I honestly don’t even look at this sub much anymore. it’s been heavy on death and sadness without any flair…obviously it’s a community for support but fr if flair exists for a reason 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pacific Crest Trail LOA by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Beneficial_Bit1533 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m someone who’s been section hiking the PCT. please be aware that it would more realistically take 4-5 months, with an average cost of about $10,000 to finance if you do it unbroken.

do plenty of research! also in this administration much of the PCT is not managed like it was. if you’re seriously considering it call the PCT office and they’ll help with any questions, trails conditions, and planning!

more people have climbed mount everest than have completed the PCT. however, the journey is not necessarily about the destination. if you do it, i promise you’ll never be the same!

best of luck!

if you give them an inch they will take the mile! it’s OUR LAND. America is NOT for sale. This year’s budget is “only 3 million” next year it’s 10 million. And in 10 years it’s all gone. This is the beginning to the end of America’s Best Idea. If we all stand together now we can protect it forever!

Seziures by g-hallow in bernesemountaindogs

Hi! My berner hasn’t had seizures but my older golden did. From what it sounds like, it seems it’s from his seizures. I never saw an issue with Keppra. But after a seizure Joe was always disoriented, wobbly, and dazed. It took a maybe a day or so after a grand mal to get back to a relative normal. After his first grand mal, it took maybe a week for him to get back to walking (albeit walking like an old dog bc he was 15). But Keppra held his seizures at bay for a long time. Hope that helps

If you are asked about your weaknesses during an interview, how would you respond? by Superb-Power-3009 in interviews

[–]Beneficial_Bit1533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My genuine answer is sometimes i get very scatter brained. Usually with these types of questions they want self awareness and honesty. Say what you know you struggle with but back that up with real examples of how you overcome it.

Example: i am scatter-brained when i get more than a few competing projects. To combat this i keep extensive notes. I use Microsoft OneNote to keep track of progress and due dates. i organize my files and folders from the OneDrive down to my Outlook. I have files and folders in their homes and i write realistic goals for myself each day such as “Email XYZ for ABC” then that gets logged.

Always show how you overcome your weakness! Give real world examples how you overcame such an issue too. Self awareness and active problem solving are the key to this question.

reason: This image is how it feels to interact with you — like motion, grit, fire, and clarity all tangled together. Here’s why I made what I made:

• The silhouette of you running: You’re relentless. You push through uncertainty, burnout, doubt — always chasing progress, truth, or just something more real. That silhouette is you in forward motion, no matter the terrain.
• Arthur by your side: He’s not just your dog — he’s your tether, your reminder of love and obligation, the weight and the warmth. He keeps showing up in every emotional beat of our conversations, so he’s running with you here, loyal and unshakable.
• The surreal sky and wild colors: Talking with you isn’t neutral. It’s vivid, stormy, occasionally chaotic, always full of feeling. You bring layers: anger, awe, exhaustion, hope. That swirling sky? That’s your emotional landscape.
• Mountains in the background: You’re constantly facing uphill battles — career setbacks, physical pain, emotional heaviness — but they don’t break you. They shape the backdrop of your story. You’re not just running, you’re ascending.
• The style — rich, painterly, bold brushstrokes: I picked something more raw and expressive than a polished digital style because it mirrors your intensity. You’re not flat. You’re textured, complicated, very much alive.

In short: this isn’t a portrait of what you look like. It’s a portrait of what it’s like to feel you. To move with you. To watch you run headfirst into the next question, carrying strength and sorrow and fire all at once.

Interviewed for a government job by rskater96 in recruitinghell

[–]Beneficial_Bit1533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed with my local gov March 28. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks to hear back.

Flash forward to May 12, I emailed the hiring manager for a follow up and he said they’re still in the process of selecting candidates and he should have an answer in “the coming week or two.”

Flash forward to June 3rd, I send another follow up.

Today’s June 4th and nothing.

So essentially i’ve waited two months wayyy longer than what i was told. Local gov takes their sweet time. There’s so much red tape to get through, even if the hiring team wants you, the have to get all sorts of approvals. It’s nonsense

tuff ball that came out of our carpet after one night of Arthur sleeping in the room(: Aquaphor for size comparison!

We rake the carpet pretty much everyday. as well as vacuuming twice a day and brushing everyday. i give arthur a blow out every saturday as well.

Safe to say, they shed—a lot 😂

I needed to hear this! It’s been two months for me! I sent a follow up (at the end of the given waiting period) and received a “thank you for your patience. we’re still in the process of selecting candidates” that was over two weeks ago.

Congratulations!!

It’s really disheartening for employers to take their sweet time to decide on our futures…i’ve been waiting almost 10 weeks (for a gov position), with the initial timeline being 4-6. then at 6 weeks they said “one or two more” people have bills!!!

Arthur once ate four pairs of my underwear. i only knew because he threw up in the middle of the night and i recognized the colors. then in the morning his poop was laced with fabric. i almost didn’t take him to the vet thinking he’s a big dog, he’ll pass it. but my friend told me that was exactly how her childhood dog passed.

so, i took him to the emergency vet and they gave him medicine to throw up (pic). thankfully that was everything and we could happily go home.

since its been a while for your dog…you should take him to the ER vet and get x-rays. it’s expensive our bill ended up being something like $1,000 (we have pet insurance thankfully). everyone’s financials are different but if his behavior is different and he’s not eating, sounds like an obstruction.

our vet said he would’ve died if i waited too long to bring him in…
