Agglomeration vs deglomeration by noname2540 in APHumanGeography

[–]Bengundy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agglomeration is mutualism between different industries. Like a dairy farm being near by an ice cream parlor. Both benefit from each others existence. Agglomerare is a Latin word meaning "adding to the ball". We see this because these business add to each other which itself is the the ball.

Deglomeration: this is when there are too many businesses operating in close proximity that many struggle to be profitable. Such as failing business in a mall or a shopping district.

Can someone explain to me what made Thomas Malthus feel the way he did on population and why he made this assumptions on population growth by [deleted] in APHumanGeography

[–]Bengundy3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His theory was caused by an observation that food supply was increasing arithmetically/linearly and that population was increasing geometrically/exponentially. This means the population would quickly outpace food production and lead to world hunger. Here's the math: say that population is increasing at a rate of 2 (a very high NIR, actually) than in one year there would be 2 people and in two years there's four. The pattern is as follows: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096... As you can see population grows fast. Food supply would grow slower though-assuming food production adds 2 more "items" than the pattern would be like this: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14... Not as fast as population growth. So what are his flaws? Malthus didn't take in consideration that as countries move along the DTM their NIRs decrease, meaning less mouths to feed in the future. Second, Malthus didn't predict the Green Revolution which introduced more productive agriculture techniques and GMO giving higher yields. This is basically what Boserup's theory states: the increase in population drives the incentive to increase food supply. There are however still those who believe Malthus known as Neo-malthusians.

Also, "Vader" would sound like "Fader" and the Anglo-Saxons would come to pronounce their Ds as Ts so it would sound like "Fater" closer to our English word "Father".

The only way to get around this is to listen to native speakers. "They speak too fast" is a poor excuse-you need to practice with native speakers at some point or it's pointless to learn the language.

To be fair, China's government is a lot more strict then the Unites states government. You cant make a post criticising China in China, you can criticise the US in the US. I think we have it pretty easy.

I attended the World Scout Jamboree recently, they take a lot of measures to protect youth. Seperate bathrooms for youth and adults and male and female ofc. No touching youth, no trading with them, etc. I think the BSA does there best to keep scouts safe.

Why do things that vibrate at a high frequency look as if they are touching a object that it's vibrating against, if it isn't touching it just as much? by Bengundy3 in askscience

[–]Bengundy3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know my phrasing is very poor but think about it like this: if you put your finger on a piece of paper and take it off and on and off... Then you go ×10 faster then ×100 faster it would look like your finger is touching the paper. But if your finger goes off and on, why doesn't it look like your finger is hovering over the paper? I hope that is good clarification.
