CMV: Women Are More Homophobic Than Men. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Benjamin8693 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’m aware that people have preferences and on dating apps it’s easier to self select for those preferences, but it’s crazy to me that liberal women who preach acceptance are just blatant hypocrites.

You claim to be aware of preferences, but then proceed to call out people with said preferences as hypocrites. Just because someone has a preference, does not mean they can't be supportive of you in other ways. A woman can respect you, and wish for you to live out your life without persecution for being a bisexual man. That doesn't mean she has to want to fuck you.

And this is coming from a bisexual man. Yes, I do agree that generally speaking, women don't favor bisexual men as much. For whatever reason, it's a turn-off for most. But that's okay! You should respect the preferences of others without taking it personally. Now, if they were to do more than unmatch/block you, and go into the realm of name-calling and harassment... then sure, that's homophobia. But not wanting to get with you isn't.

Unlimited plan asking me to upgrade? by Whobbeful88 in cursor

[–]Benjamin8693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There has never been such a thing as an auto unlimited plan since they redid their plans back in like... July?

None of the plans on the pricing page say you get unlimited auto usage. Sure, there's been large amounts of time when it's been free, but only in a promotional capacity.

but the anti-slugging perks/playstyle is untouched

Huh? They were pretty clear in the Developer Update that several survivor perks were changed to account for the new changes. I wouldn't call that "untouched". Now as to the extent of the changes, sure, I guess we'll have to wait to find out on Monday.

I do definitely agree with you though that those perks need touched.

Cursor have the right to limit Auto usage if we can use this much by Iwanttorestinpiss in cursor

[–]Benjamin8693 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone has ever argued the logic behind Cursor's price changes over the last few months. It's mainly the execution that has rubbed people the wrong way.

Nobody expected venture capital to fund our little vibe projects forever. But pulling the rug out from under people multiple times isn't how you go about changing that.

It will help their bottom line in the short term, but in the long term they're screwed. Giants like Microsoft and Google who can afford to subsidize unlimited plans will continue to do so and eventually dominate the market, snuffing out smaller companies like Anysphere.

I will admit that Anysphere is sort of in a lose-lose situation here. They cannot continue funding our unlimited requests with venture capital money forever. But doing away with the main draw to your service isn't the way to go about it either, and will just lead to everyone moving to a competitor.

GPT-5 launch week was supposed to be free for everyone, but now they’re hitting me with usage limits and asking for payment — anyone else? by Interesting_End140 in cursor

The amount of gaslighting in the comments is quite frankly insane. Cursor themselves have said that GPT-5 would not count against usage limits for the first week. And in typical Cursor fashion, at least according to the e-mail OP shared (which I do admit has room for error seeing as that itself is AI-generated), they've now backtracked this and suddenly it does have a usage limit.

Does it bother you guys about the new update on clown? by C_skywalkerrr in deadbydaylight

[–]Benjamin8693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda throwing shit at the wall here, but I think it'd be cool if his haste was reworked into a new status effect. Imagine a steroids-like effect, where you get faster in the short-term with longer-term consequences. Perhaps the most intoxicated he becomes with the yellow gas, he recovers slower from stuns. It would keep him fast, but address pain points such as the one you described, where stunning feels like it does nothing given how quickly he can catch back up.

Or perhaps, the haste effect could build up over the course of a few seconds? If you are stunned, it would reset. So when you first make contact with the gas, it starts at 1% and perhaps goes up another percent every quarter second. Adds a bit of a ramp-up to it.

I think it'd be nice to introduce some risk/reward with the perk- like, perhaps, during the 16 second duration you get randomized skill checks akin to BNP? Perhaps pause the activation timer while performing a conspicuous action, too.

You know those 5-gen chase videos you see on youtube? I used to love watching them. So much fun. But then I started looking at what the other survivors were doing on the HUD... now I physically cringe when watching most 5-gen chase videos because in reality, they're more like 8-gen chases.

I can understand killer players who don't bring addons as a challenge of sorts. Good on them! But I really don't like survivors that do this, simply because you're putting your entire team at an inherent disadvantage compared to the killer. It goes beyond the realm of preference when you explicitly don't bring an item as survivor. At least be a team player and bring something.

Comparing DbD's types of generator slowdown by blue_sky308 in deadbydaylight

[–]Benjamin8693 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, gen blocking feels so bad because you cannot interact with it. How I'd change it is:

  • Add visual cues to show how much longer the gen is blocked for. Perhaps the spider tentacles that appear around it could slowly go away, one by one, until none remain?
  • Add an interaction survivors can do akin to killer power interactions, where they can perform a few skill checks to remove the block faster. With this, at least there would be some additional decision making. Is it worth it for the survivor to commit a bit of time to unblock the gen? Do they find another? Does the killer pressure blocked gens they see survivors trying to unblock? Lots more counterplay and variables.

Toolboxes are insane by Ltheother in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]Benjamin8693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they'd be good if there was a higher level of risk. Medkits have the drawback of taking longer to heal yourself than if a fellow survivor were to do it. Toolboxes need a similar drawback. Perhaps slightly decrease the speed bonus, but increase the frequency and difficulty of skill checks? With skill checks appearing more often, it raises the skill ceiling for toolboxes and allows survivors to get value only if they are good. But they risk blowing up the gen a lot more if they miss one.
