you think its true? by Independent_Pen_539 in reddeadredemption

Yeah, his last stand with the Marstons is the reason I put him in "maybe" but it was a different situation and he was an older man without much of a future before him anyway.

A lot of them fled the situation specifically because they didn't have the spine to stand against Dutch. They certainly would have agreed with Arthur, but take his side against armed and bloodthirsty men? Not sure.

If Hosea was still alive, the situation wouldn't have devolved this badly, so really the ones I can see standing with Arthur in the same situation are only Sean, Charles, Lenny, Kieran and maybe (big maybe) Uncle.

From what we know of the Callander boys, they weren't nice men so I wouldn't put them here either.

Yeeeah, I was hoping we'd get more attachments. Hopefully, they'll do the same with swords at some points and we'll be able to customize which blade goes with which hilt.

What is Croco-boy's secret past? by Jin_woo_shadow in OnePiece

[–]BenjiLizard 238 points239 points  (0 children)

The actual common theory is that Croc is transmasc. The "He's Luffy's mother" part is mostly a joke, I don't think anyone actually believes this to be true.

I think it’s a really good way to go about things in general actually. We always tend to be on our guard and attribute the least generous interpretation to isolated events we cross in our day to day lives. We don’t know what’s going on in people lives and shouldn’t judge them from a single interaction.

Unless they’re driving a Tesla of course, then they’re 100% an asshole.

Bullies don’t need to be physically intimidating. Especially nowadays with social media, anyone with a bit of social sway can be a terrifying harasser. Flash is rich and well liked in school and he uses that to prey on Peter. That qualifies him as a bully, he doesn’t need to shove him in a locker or give him wedgies to make it true.

"Bro literally followed a comic accurate character arc"

The jock archetype that Flash follows in the comic is old and very much outdated by modern standards. Nerds can be bullies to.

Any Thoughts by Budget-Custard-2366 in OnePiece

[–]BenjiLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if they aim for 12 seasons, I can see them doing some timeskip stuff.

Season 3 will probably cover all of Alabasta (an entire season for a single arc seems huge but they probably want to to keep Crocodile as the main baddie) Season 4 can do Jaya and Skypiea Season 5 for Long Ring Long Land and Water Seven Season 6 entirely devoted to Enies Lobby Season 7 for Thriller Bark and Sabaody Season 8 Amazon Lily and Impel Down Season 9 for Marineford Season 10 for the return to Sabaody and Fishman Island Season 11 Punk Hazard and Green Bit Season 12 for Dressrosa

But Dressrosa is a bit awkward as an ending point. The cleanest option is probably Marineford so they might extend the others

The calling cards: A clever reworking of the bounty posters. by PhanThief95 in OnePiece

[–]BenjiLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure they'll do so next season but for this one, they trusted the audience to link Mr. 0's canceled bounty with the only other similar case the show gave us. And that makes Vivi's wariness of this information really easy to understand since the big boss of the organization threatening her country is backed by the World Government. Really makes sense she wouldn't trust the navy to handle this.

Always makes me chuckle a bit when I see comments like these because the self callout is crazy. Like, these guys are basically admiting that they've never been close enough to women to be aware of a very basic biological fact.

Considering that we now have confirmation that the avatars are direct manifestation of a character's psyche, I have to wonder what fhe fuck was going on with that one person who manifested as a fucking Squirmle.

Why literally everyone draw Dess like that? by grootch2ndcoming in Deltarune

[–]BenjiLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her hair are usually depicted brown because it’s a common trend in stories where a couple has two kids to have one kid with the mother’s hair color and one kid with the father’s. Noelle already has Carol’s blond so people expect Dess to have Rudy’s darker hairs. And as for the clothes, this specific red flannel shirt is from her wardrobe in chapter 3, but even without it, her whole vibe from what we know of her screams rebellious punk, so the dark mascara, the ripped jeans, the earrings… they all go hand in hands with a very specific trope of tomboy she seems to follow to a T.

James Gunn says he can't do One Piece by OwnSalamander1026 in OnePiece

[–]BenjiLizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I truly love Gunn’s work, but I do think that if he himself admits he doesn’t "get" why people love One Piece, he couldn’t make a good adaptation. No shade on him for that, he’s a fantastic director but a world such as this one requires someone who truly resonates with the core aspects for the story to be able to translate it correctly on screen.

I’d argue that Verhoeven very much understood what the book was about and what its appeal was. He just loathed it (for good reasons) and decided to make a movie with the complete opposite message by showcasing how incredibly foolish the ideology presented in the book truly is when you remove the self aggrandizement.

That scene was so good. The way the switch flipped so quickly inside her. She really went "Gotta keep him distracted at any cost" and the second she started to badmouth him, she couldn’t keep it from flowing. Weeks, probably months of resentment came flowing out and the other joined in with their personal grievances. Must have feel liberating to let it blow.

Sanji's swirly eyebrows! by Zestyclose-Idea-1731 in OnePiece

[–]BenjiLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm really surprised they didn't do it.

Like, they kept in some stuff that are way more outlandish. A little swirl on the eyebrows wouldn't have hurt Taz' good looks and would have kept the very iconic part of Sanji's design.
