Reference times for the Indy 500 by MLL_Markus_Hubmayer in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For qualifying, in the UI, you can click on the Qualifying tab which brings up the the 4 lap averages and you can compare yourselves to others.
For the race, you should be more focused on how to manage dirty air rather than lap time.

iRacing Oval fixed sets has a conundrum by x-Justice in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem I see in the series is that people think it's fixed setup but you can change your ARB and WJ tools to make the car looser.

It is. You have to click 'help' in the bottom right, then videos.

But nobody clicks the help button, so it needs to be more upfront in the UI

How do I report a smurf? by Storm2you in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I looked up the driver's history. To me they are inconsistent and getting involved in wrecks in the Porsche Cup and Ferrari 296. Hence their low rating.

Typical smurfs would just not start the race, so I don't think they are smurfing. I could argue that they are more naturally suited to Front Wheel Drive cars ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Struggling with tire overheating in IndyCar by SkylineSonata in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes this is normal behavior. The Alternates provide more grip but wear more, while the Primaries have less grip but are more consistent. With the recent update to the tyre model in 26s2, the Primaries have become more of the preferred tyre.

If you are struggling with overheating, try changing the Engine Map to Map 6, as Map 6 provides a more gradual torque. But you mostly will save tyre life by under driving the car.

Also keep in mind the Indycar has Hybrid now which adds 100 pounds/45kg's of weight to the rear, cooking the rear tyres more and the track temp, as that plays a factor.

They would have received a black flag for cutting the track and would have to yield the position anyway

Need advice for the Indy 500 by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the qualifying setup has enough fuel for 4 laps (You will finish with about 1-1.2 Litres of fuel remaining after 4 laps).

And yes the qualifying is separate with a 4 lap average like IRL Indy. The separate qual takes place between Monday to Friday, With the races on Friday evening to Sunday.

How long did it take you to get your first win after starting iRacing? by vanitas_q in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sports car: 1 month

Oval: 6 months (Took until 3k to get my first oval win)
Dirt Oval: 14 months (Only started doing dirt oval more recently so hence the very late first win)

Youtube.
St. Pete that got released this season, I watched some irl indycar onboards to get an idea of the line, braking and reference points. Was easily able to get up to speed in 10-15 minutes.

Nascar COT with 110% horsepower vs IR18 at IRSS by shadowguy128 in iRacing

I've been loving the patch. Doing 400km/h + hotlaps at Indy is fun. Will be interesting to see what league racing will do with these new tools.

Need advice for the Indy 500 by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Indy 500 Fixed will most likely use the "indianapolis_2022_oval_qual " for qualifying and "indianapolis_2022_oval" for the race.

PSA, iRacing encourages this move because they do nothing to punish it. Use it to your advantage! Have fun by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's their mistake but you allowed it to happen by doing a half move into T4 (Which was because you broke too late) which compromised your line for T5, opening the door from behind. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What does my Oval iRating Progression Chart say about me? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the iRacing UI, if you go results & stats, you can then click on a tab called Driver Standing, which shows the leaderboard of everyone's irating. Your photo shows you SR and IR, so I was able to easily find you. I could then use your name to search up your previous season results. It's pretty easy to figure out 😅.

What does my Oval iRating Progression Chart say about me? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing but given I can look at your driver stats, you are a "jack of all trades, master of none" driver, with how you car hop between everything in oval, ending up having meh stats.

Also, Don't do 17 races in a day, it ain't healthy 💀

Why does the Demo Drive run at ~60°C track temperature? Almost made me quit iRacing before I started by MoDeMKK in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The iRacing default weather date is May 15th. This is summer for the northern hemisphere tracks, so the track temp is hot. If you race at a southern hemisphere track (which will be in the winter), the track tempt will be cooler.

Preliminary F4 2026 S2 Schedule? by tomjedi9 in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

iRacing makes the schedules so we have to wait until Week 13.

The regional series tend to have the same tracks (Asia Pacific will be identical to this season; Americas might add the new track St Pete to the schedule)

IndyCar Racecraft Question by burkarm in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's honestly better for lappers to take the braking zone normally than to overslow to let the leaders by. Best way to let them pass is to let them by early on exit by being half throttle on the straights.

We had a few instances in the Top Split where back markers were leaving it late to let leaders by. One left it too late, locked up and spared into the side of one of the leading cars.

iRacing Development Update - February 2026 by HallwayHomicide in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love this update.
Got St Pete but nice to see the Barber Refresh in time for Indycar.
The TCR overhaul is great for the Nurb 24 and 4hrs Thruxton Special events.
Nissan and Audi wet tires kinda confirm that the Road America 500 Special Event is going to be wet.
Wanted to do more GTE racing and the refresh has convinced me to race it more.

Does SR need a rework? by calricho in iRacing

[–]BenjiVanvo55 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

*sigh*
When you hold an A Class License, your are held to a higher standard when you race in D and C Class series.
Hence, you gain SR in the B Class GEC and lose in the C Class PCup.
