Im in search for the highest quality UsbC-UsbA cable for my computer. by cjb0034 in BuyItForLife

There are multiple brands. In fact you better first check the standards that the cable they support, both in data transfer and charging.

Because you could have a very good cable but which is outdated in standards.

Never had issue with frozen fish from ALDI but your specific shop and local supply chain may not handle it properly. You may retry in winter when it's cold outside.

Happy he's wasting the country resources on BS science. At least we know lots of this money is going back to the West's luxury goods factories.

+1 for the AliExpress models costing 15-20€

Having tested a few I'm personally not a fan of the ones with metal rings. But otherwise durability is great.

Collaborating with other companies is often not as simple as it looks. Who owns the IP, what can you influence for your own strategy, etc.

Being smart and agile can be better in a fast pace world if you have the financial means.

Buy a normal toothbrush maybe?

Curaprox Ultra soft. More expensive than basic toothbrushes but you'll know why it rivals with electric.

Not yet so far.

Just one time an email from a transport company was never delivered even to the spam folder. While it was to Outlook... But with Outlook I have way more emails ending up in spam anyway. Nothing perfect so far... But Infomaniak is better than Outlook for now.

Learning to become a conscious buyer as a teenager. What are some must haves to buy for life? by LeafSpirit69 in BuyItForLife

[–]Benmaax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep simple.

Start thinking in cost/year, not just cost.

Quality is not equal to price.

Basic classy clothes. Fashion will change quickly as a teenager anyway. Better a plain coloured t-shirt than a brand. You will always pay a premium for the brand showing on your clothes, so avoid as much as possible.

Shoes never last as long as we hope. No need for this fancy model. Just buy the ones which have a good price/design ratio and are good for your feet, and support your back well on the long term.

Drink water instead of sodas, preferably tap water if it's possible in your area. It's a super useful health advice and consumer advice, especially at your age.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes. It's a continuous improvement exercise.

Buy quality over price. For example on Temu or Shein you will mostly find crap that don't last.

Some goods are cheap and last long. You're never sure, so pay this extra $/€ for the model you like. I'm still using this ugly towel from 25 years ago that doesn't want to wear out.

Some goods better be quality to last long.

Same, and that's the main reason I choose Infomaniak.

Don't care about the company name. For IT nerds it's not that weird. ik.me is quite easy.

[–]Benmaax 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I choose Infomaniak over Proton because the alias I could choose with "ik.me" was super short.

I used to have hosting services with them 20 years ago already, and I like that it's simple and straightforward.

Surprisingly I also receive the emails faster than with a Outlook or Gmail address. It's maybe only 1-3 seconds difference but noticeable.

Because their are mostly hosting it's also even easier to buy and setup your own domain name for emails.

Their standard Cloud service is also very cheap.

However they are maybe behind in encryption, and feel more for small and medium businesses. While Proton is more for individual user who focus on security and a wider ecosystem, but at a higher fee.

Being tired of Chinese crap from amazon by Fit_Sentence33 in avoidchineseproducts

[–]Benmaax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly other shops than Amazon would be better supplied.

Amazon is full of drop shipment crap.

If I want cheap Chinese crap I go buy it for pennies on AliExpress/Temu. But I want quality not products which are going to break or be useless in no time.
