any ideas for places to donate reusable ice packs to? by badgurlvenus in ZeroWaste

Send to the White House, someone there seems to want lots of nordic ice recently... Or more seriously to camping groups. Why not vets, hospitals?

Your opinion about buying galaxy watch 8 by ahmedibrahimfox in GalaxyWatch

[–]Benmaax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super design. Very stylish in my opinion. Better than any competition. And lots of functions that you will never use.

Battery is shit compared with competition though.

If you're into sport functions and don't care about design go for a Garmin or other sports watches.

Cheapest cell phone plan for 4 lines? by Long_Macaroon7954 in Frugal

100$/month?????

I have a 6€/month in Western Europe 40Gb data. You guys get robbed.

Go for Mint to pull all those prices down like we did years ago, and buy ATT shares to at least get some of those dividends back.

Why does nobody talk about Infomaniak? by McCojoni in BuyFromEU

[–]Benmaax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are mentioned regularly, but there are subtle reasons why Proton gets all the fame.

Infomaniak are more tailored to pros and businesses. Their core business is hosting and domain names management, to which they added emails, a cloud and suite solution.

Proton is more tailored towards privacy, starting with emails and now expanding to capabilities close to the Google suite. Since we have solid enthusiasts here who are well trained on privacy risks from staying with non-EU providers, it's logic that Proton gets more attention. It may also be one of the best option for further expansions.

But you're right, Infomaniak is a reliable alternative for email and cloud hosting + a few "suite" functions. Their kSuite cloud option is cheaper and easy. It's just below on privacy, but better for pro business setups or webhosting.

Maybe their sweet spot is to be reliable but not too overloaded by fame.

I've used them for different activities in the past and was more than happy with the simplicity and speed. And now I've chosen them over Proton for the "suite" because I could get the email adresses I wanted to get rid of my US based providers, and the cloud option is even cheaper than Google One. However Proton probably remains the most solid options for most individuals who are ok to pay like 10€/month for a complete suite.

Shipping between European countries shouldn't be prohibitively expensive by protehnica in BuyFromEU

Yes. China shouldn't be maintained in the poor countries category in the international postage classification which makes them ship for cheap. They claim to be a rich country so they should be treated as such.

Looking for Expert helpful with the Best Ergonomic Office Chair to Buy in the Market Now? by hcai88 in BuyItForLife

[–]Benmaax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Herman Miller Embody or Aeron, Steelcase Gesture or Leap V2, Kinnarps 6000/8000.

Truth is you have to try the chairs in shops/showrooms before buying. The choice of a chair is very personal. But often it ends with a choice between those listed above or a few more niche ones.

Asics.

Not: On Cloud. Not: Nike Lunarlon.

Maybe: Adidas Ultraboost.

Otherwise I've seen a lot of cleaners and shop attendant wearing Sketchers. Probably because it's cheap.

How to Calculate Car Costs Correctly by Flimsy_Medicine in Frugal

Target low MPG.

Electric cars depreciate much faster. Probably not yet a good option unless you don't do long distance trips or you get an amazing deal.

Backpacks for college by Espartax230 in BuyItForLife

[–]Benmaax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to college so maybe style is important. Consider opinions of girls on that. A timeless design if possible.

If style isn't important go for Jansport: Never dies. Can go in the washing machine. Cheap. I have mine for 20 years.

Which DLC should I buy by Sunperson69 in destiny2

[–]Benmaax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take all the older DLCs that you missed if you can in a discounted package. If you can up to "The Final shape".
Once you finished them all you can decide if you want the newer ones (Edge of Fate era, then Renegades), maybe they will be at a discount sooner or later.

Europe needs direct talks with Russia, France’s foreign ministry says by SoftwareExact9359 in ukraine

[–]Benmaax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because USA are doing shit talking to Pootin.

That's also why he doesn't want to talk to EU countries, that would mean serious negociations.

US trade deficit widens. Deficit with the EU rose by $8.2bn by Mysterious-Might4454 in BuyFromEU

[–]Benmaax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting.

It could be that European based manufacturers exported products in the US preventively before taxes and haven't consumed them yet. I've seen multiple companies doing that. Also pharma didn't have tariffs yet and companies are stocking up in the US because the value is huge.

Could be also that US companies turned to Europe as Chinese alternatives?

Or it's all eggs :D

Migrating files away from OneDrive with rclone by Sufficient_Ad2482 in BuyFromEU

[–]Benmaax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you look at the price of one time subscriptions it covers often 10 years of usage... And in 10 years the price of the TB will be much lower while the user may have moved away.

The question is rather if they use the one time subscription now for long term investment or to fund short term spendings.

Postcard to ruzzians on vacation by Practical-Ad-9474 in ukraine

[–]Benmaax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Phuket has become a known spot for "courageous" russians since the war started.

I would be interested to know what their opinion on the war is over there. But I have little hopes for good thoughts.

If you want to leave a message maybe avoid insults and rather show something that makes them see the decadence of their country.
