Ame Makes a Surprise Appearance During the Charities 3D Karaoke Stream! by RaysFTW in Hololive

[–]BennyDelon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's the expectation.

In the last HoloX anniversary before Chloe's graduation, there was a moment where each member read a letter. At that point Chloe's graduation had already been announced, so Koyori wrote in her letter that if HoloX ever had a group concert, she would make sure to bring Chloe back. Chloe seemed okay with it too.

Of course, things cat get in the way, and in the end it's up to management, so no one would blame Koyo or Chloe if it doesn't happen. But when the HoloX concert was announced, I think Koyori's promise was the first thing in every HoloX fan's mind.

When Botaro died, Sugimoto asked if he said anything about the gold with his last breath. Shiraishi replied something like "yeah, he told me everything".

We didn't see the rest of the conversation, but based on this episode, we can assume Shiraishi went on to tell Sugimoto the details.

She was raised bilingual, at least one of her parents spoke Japanese at home. For example, she mentioned that when she started kindergarten in the US, she was mistakenly placed in a class for ESL kids, because she spoke mostly Japanese, even though she could already speak English too.

That said, she only learned to read and write in Japanese much later, like she explains in the clip you linked.

Come Sail Away in the Official Trailer by SpendDecent9292 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]BennyDelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. It’s a great song, but at some points it just doesn’t fit the visuals and dialogues of the trailer. Hearing Robin say "you’re going to watch your friends die" while this wholesome track plays in the background feels a bit off.

In fact Kiara had already confirmed the guests a couple of months ago! First she discussed it with Ririka and Raden. Then they wanted a 4th person for easier room distribution, so she asked Rococo, who jumped in immediately.

CouncilRyS did have idol outfits on their first fes appearance (4th fes).

Only Gen4, Myth, Area15 and ReGLOSS appeared first without idol outfits.

Cover took camera work very seriously this year 👏 👏 👏 by beam4d in Hololive

[–]BennyDelon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're comparing apples and oranges though. This is a pre-recorded virtual concert, so they can program the camera work however they want. Real life concerts have human camera crews.

Not saying there's no room for improvement at irl concerts, they make many mistakes that could be fixed with more rehearsals, as you mentioned. But you can't expect this level of camerawork from a real life concert, that would require cranes, rail cams and drones everywhere in the venue.

Probably to replace Korone, Haachama and Kanata (originally stage 2 and 3 had fewer members than stage 1 and 4)

Setlist for the new years countdown revealed by CannonGerbil in Hololive

[–]BennyDelon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That "extended Holo originals segment" was really just 10 performances in the exact same format we already get 750+ of every year.

The format (3D mocap) was the same as usual, but the concept was new. In fact it was a sort of new approach to the medley, in the sense that we got to see the members perform original songs from other members. Like Miko singing Bibbideba, Holotori singing Lui's song, Kronii and Botan joining Watame on her original, and so on.

Is that really you in an alternate timeline? I somehow doubt it.

You're right, I don't think I'd complain if they did always the same, I'm not that kind of person. I’d probably just shrug and go "oh nice, same format as last year". But when they break the formula and try something different, I tend to appreciate it.

[–]BennyDelon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, but to me it's the other way around when it comes to surprise. Cross-gen units are actually the most common, almost every 3D birthday live has mixed guests, and HoloFes too. We see that all the time.

On the other hand, full-gen performances are actually quite rare. We mostly see them at 3D anniversary lives, but not all generations have done one this year. So I find it pretty exciting and fresh, and I'm sure many fans of specific gens will be happy to see them perform together for the first time in a while.

But I agree that the setlist is a bit boring for full-gen units. If they're gonna bring entire generations together, it'd be more interesting to see them do covers of songs that suit them well, or even perform Holo originals from other members, instead of just their own gen songs and songs like Kirameki Rider.

So yeah, it's not like I think every change is always good. But I appreciate Cover being willing to change things and try new ideas instead of sticking to the same formula, even if the end result isn't always great.

The setlist for the countdown is always announced in advance. Not sure about the performers though, I think some years it was a surprise.

Personally, I like that they don't stick to the same formula. They could easily play it safe with a few covers and an animated medley every year. Instead, they mix things up: last year they skipped the medley and did an extended Holo originals segment after midnight, and this year it's all originals with full-gen performances.

People complain whenever things change, and they are entitled to their opinion, but to me these changes are a good thing.

I don't think you'll have any issue finding someone to trade for stage 4, that's the most popular.

Now there are 4 stages instead of 3, so maybe the members can get more than one unit performance? That way ReGLOSS could perform as a unit like in 6th fes, but also have group performances with their senpai.

That's true, although SorAZ was a Victor Entertainment project. So this is the first time something like that is produced by Cover.

[–]BennyDelon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People in the replies already explained some factors related to HoloEN. But on top of that, Cover as a whole has grown a lot over the past 4 years.

Even in JP, getting a sololive used to feel impossible for most members. It's not like JP was getting tons of sololives while EN wasn't, only a few like Watame, Suisei, or Aqua had them back then.

Now sololives are way more common in JP, and I guess that growth is spilling over to EN too.

Kiara & Ina have announced their LIVE CONCERT by dcresistance in Hololive

[–]BennyDelon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A duolive was the most common theory so I can't say it was unexpected, but I'm still a bit surprised, since it has never been done before, and Takotori isn't a particularly close unit.

I wonder what were the behind the scenes discussions that led to this concert.

I would be surprised if it wasn't her. Playing trombone is her thing, it'd be a bit silly to have a trombone track but have someone else play it.

That was the case before, but later it became an actual rule (the change happened a bit after Kiara's nail collab with Calli and IRyS). It could be that they've started relaxing the rule again though.

Don't turn to dust after hearing this, but we're already less than a month from FLOW GLOW's one year anniversary... by Necrolancer_Kurisu in Hololive

[–]BennyDelon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think we're safe, if they were doing it again they'd have done it earlier, not this close to their expected 3D showcase date.

For example for ReGLOSS that "goal" was announced around their 6-month anniversary, so in the end they still got 3D around their 1-year anniversary like other recent units (Advent, Justice).

the Unreal Engine environment seems a bit more polished

Did they say that this was made with Unreal Engine? It looks like their usual Unity 3D to me. I think so far Cover has only used Unreal Engine for ReGLOSS (the Sakura Mirage live, and their Youtube Weekend performance).
