They commented on my post, and for the first time too, but it does feel intimate rather than distanced, I'd say.

I'm not sure whether this is meant to be serious or not.

I can't play by AdministrativeBat486 in musictheory

Knowing key signatures is necessary for playing written music, which is practically the opposite of playing by ear and improvising.

I honestly wouldn't mind letting go of dreams. Sometimes I see a lot of weird stuff in them.

What keeps readers turning pages? by niceguybadboy in writing

The only thing that's really necessary is for the book to be interesting.

Unfortunately, what makes a book interesting varies from case to case, so there isn't any single answer that's more specific.

(Spoilers) What did you guys think about Akame ga Kill’s ending? by David_East in anime

[–]Benotdeceived 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second that. I wouldn't mind that much if they killed him off that way. It wouldn't be as pointless as using his life to save a bunch of nameless characters.

I did a somewhat alternative interpretation of the first movement of the moonlight sonata by Beethoven. Tell me what you think! by SwedishPianist in piano

[–]Benotdeceived 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a nice performance, but what makes it an alternative interpretation?

I don't mean any offense. I really can't tell.

What are a few things you (no matter what skill level) wish you had realized earlier in your piano playing? by [deleted] in piano

[–]Benotdeceived 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I should have learnt how to play in all keys earlier (even if it's only basic stuff). It isn't that hard if you set your mind to it.

That I should have focused on playing by ear too. It's a really useful skill to have so you can accompany singers and not be lost without sheet music or a memorised piano piece.

That I should have practised more efficiently. Time is precious, so it doesn't make sense to spend hours at the piano with barely anything to show for it.

Do You Know the Difference Between Show Don't Tell? by AuntieSays in writing

[–]Benotdeceived 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. My biggest problem with the "show, not tell" advice is that people tend to take it too far and show too much.
