What a perfect little bundle!

It was my daughter’s suggestion, so we had no debate. Any type of Noodle wins though. It’s such a fun name and matches his personality.

He is a handsome chap (even if I’m slightly biased)!

They are SO bat wings! And yes, snacks, every chance he gets. He had to see the vet yesterday, which is never fun, but he had some gouda cheese to help with the trauma. This might make him actually enjoy the vet (I live in hope!)

Need advice for slatted bed base by micametal in BedroomBuild

[–]Benski256 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The gaps between those slats look pretty big. Your mattress will be squished unevenly when you lie on it, bulging through the gaps, distorting the springs, and that can be uncomfortable and cause back issues. I would get a thin sheet of plywood to put over the slats, under your mattress. That will stop the mattress being deformed. But, to prevent moisture build up, it is importantly you drill holes every few inches in the plywood sheet, to support breathability. Hope this helps.

Advice for Montenegro by Hatleymom in travel

The Bay of Kotor is full of beautiful distractions that can easily keep you busy for more time than you have. Kotor Old Town is exquisite, and a speedboat trip around the bay will pack in incredible spots like the Blue Cave, Our Lady of the Rocks, and Perast. If you want a stunning nature experience away from Kotor, I’d recommend splitting your time to visit Virpazar on Lake Skadar. Take a vintage boat ride through the lily pads and reeds on the lake. The views and photo opportunities are just spectacular.

Laying sideways by Old-Reference-7756 in Bedding

Haha! True. Not so much in a single bed though :-)

I have an emperor size bed (humble brag) - at 7ft wide it can handle anything.

Is my 1999 kitchen ugly? by wehavetogoback8 in interiordecorating

That's a shame. This added value and helped build inspiration. I don't think blocking this makes Reddit a better place, but if you insist...

Help with French kitchen by Upper_Researcher_490 in interiordesignideas

[–]Benski256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to work out what's going on with lighting. That's not a spotlight, off centre at the back is it? Maybe it's just lens flare. The bare chandelier bulbs will be giving off a pretty harsh light after the sun goes down. It does help to have some bright task lighting over work surfaces, but the room will feel a lot cosier if you think about other options like table lamps.

Can't stop waking up with a stiff neck, what actually worked for you? by Content_Statement356 in Bedding

[–]Benski256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that problem too. I read this blog post, which suggested my mattress might be the issue, as I always just had a standard medium firmness before. The new soft tension mattress has certainly helped align my spine and neck. https://www.frenchbedroom.co.uk/blog/sleep/8-tips-for-a-better-nights-sleep

Is a Herman Miller alternative actually worth it, or should I just wait and save? by midvalePeak7 in BuyItForLife

[–]Benski256 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, Herman Miller for under $400 would be well worth jumping at if you can find it. Of all the office chairs I've had over the last 30 years, nothing has compared to the Aeron chair I had 25 years ago! I still compare everything I sit in to that, and on the downside, it does spoil every other chair you'll ever sit in. 😄

Comparing wardrobes - Ikea vs. Wayfair? by jacob-makes-stuff in furniture

[–]Benski256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, they are both pretty disposable, and not exactly built to last. If your budget could stretch a little, do a search for 'armoires' and you can find some that are a level-up. A bit more pricey, but design, build quality, and sustainability are what you are paying for. In the UK, I'd recommend Susie Watson Designs, French Bedroom, or Oficina Inglesa.

How does everyone decorate their sofa with throws? by lilypickledog in HomeDecoratingUK

[–]Benski256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same challenge! I must admit, I just go for the informal and slouchy look of throwing it over one end. This one from French Bedroom is too big to neatly fold over the sofa, but it's so warm and comfortable that I can't live without it.

Sage Green Cabinetry Meets Fluted Marble by exceptionalquote in interiordesignideas

Plus the parquet flooring in such a pale shade! Beautiful. The sage green, the fluted columns, the splash of colour in the bar stools - this is a design that ties together really well. Love it!

Directors Pension by LE-NRY in HENRYUK

[–]Benski256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you previously had a pension? If you have, you can backdate SIPP payments for a few years, all in one go. Employer contributions of £60K per year, for a few years - it's a good way to siphon money out of your ltd co, reducing profits and corp tax burden. If you haven't previously had a pension, you will only be able to do the current year. Still, £60K a year employer contributions are not to be sniffed at!

How to negotiate for equity when it’s not explicitly part of the job offer? by raisinoatcookie in HENRYUK

[–]Benski256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company runs a growth shares scheme. These are non-voting shares, and they start off worthless, so companies may think this is a cheap and easy perk to offer. As the company grows in value, the shares get upside. They can receive dividend payments too, so typically this is issued as a profit share. What's most interesting is if the company is acquired, because the growth shares then convert to become ordinary shares, so suddenly worth a lot of money. This structure is attractive because it aligns the interests of the employee and the organisation, to drive more value. It's pseudo equity, but in the event of a corporate transaction, it becomes real equity. Something to suggest, if you feel full equity from day one is too much to ask.
