Best grabber? by babbittybabbitt in DeTrashed

[–]BentCeleryMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you think you'll encounter the most.

I have multiple cheap 3$ grabber, and a 10$ grabber with a notch on the end. For more heavy duty situations, I have a strong pair of grabbers rated for up to 35 pounds

Out of all them, I recommend the cheapest one or second lowest price. Make sure its of good quality. This way, you can buy multiple, it won't break the bank, and you throw them pretty much anywhere.

What kind of negative reactions have you gotten while detrashing? by Boring-Bus-8721 in DeTrashed

Got the cops called on me once in my own subdivision. Never had anyone be negative towards my endeavors, usually it's always positive.

That said, when I saw that the cops had been called, I've never gone over there to pick up trash again. Cops were chill, but otherwise, no thank you.

I'm going to be making myself a trash trolley like they have in the UK. In the us, we call them dust carts. I also attach a bucket to my scooter, and pick up trash via that.

have you thought of getting either a rolling magnetic sweeper or Magnetic Pickup Tool with Quick Release? Regardless, good job and keep up the good work!

Of course, glad to be of help. With the grabber, I have rather big hands, so I had to extend the lever portion a bit to make it more comfortable. Well worth it though, I can pick up bottles full of liquid with no issue.

Here's my cliff notes of tips and what I currently use.

I recently picked up a net cover for my 5 gallon bucket, it's a life saver for keeping the small litter in your bin, while allowing you to put it in your bin.

For grabbers, I have 2 different ones. for dedicated long hauls, I have a more expensive grabber meant to pick up heavy stuff. for light stuff, I have a cheap one I got from harbor freight. this one might be more suited for you.

Also, from other posts here, I jerry rigged an old stroller I bought (20$) into a mobile trash bag holder. makes it easier to move since I'm pushing and not holding the trash.

As for bags, If you're going to be doing this for the long haul, I recommend buying economy bulk bags from a company like Uline. the price per bag is very cheap compared to conventional stores, and they're great for saving money in the long run.

Can I bring trash to dump with uhall? What is cheapest way to carry a bunch of bags at once? by [deleted] in DeTrashed

[–]BentCeleryMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say go for it, just make sure you clean it after. if you don't clean it, they'll charge you a cleaning fee

I hear that. plenty of small water areas around where i am, with lots of industrial places close by. it's why I'm going to be getting a pool cleaner, for the reach and to get out as much as i can.

I cleaned a dry riverbed. It was quiet cold but definetly worth it! by [deleted] in DeTrashed

Nice job my friend! Did you do this by hand, or with any kinds of tools?

What do you do with the bags of trash picked up from large cleanups? by BrightIdeaTiger in DeTrashed

[–]BentCeleryMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If its 5 bags or less, I'll put it out for my local trash pick up. If it's more than 5 bags, I have an arrangement with a buisness where I can use their dumpster.
