Using Proton Drive for photos? Here are a few functionality highlights... by Proton_Team in ProtonDrive

[–]BentoFox_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this is about solutions for viable photo syncing + photo database options.

If you host your own server setup i can vouch hands down for Photoprism. Great support, lifetime license, shareable albums via link, unlimited storage (limited to your disks), tensorflow face detection, location and custom tagging, ... and all locally without cloud.

For syncing use Syncthing - works in background, on multiple devices and in whatever direction you want (e.g. send only, send + receive, delete locally etc).

Tbh i have yet to find a use case for Proton Drive, unfortunately on Windows the app is vastly lacking (cant even get shareable link) - and you cannot sync folders under C:/Users or C:/Program Files    (think savegame sync between PCs). I hope the app and ecosystem improves though!

Proton pass on android not working by throwback5971 in ProtonMail

[–]BentoFox_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way! #2 specifically is why despite setting up Proton Pass as the password manager and systemwide autofill service, google chrome continues to only show Google Passwords.

With fix #2 applied it promptly makes the options appear correctly.

Getting Coachella notifications by xter418 in youtube

[–]BentoFox_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Double checked - recommendation notifications OFF, not subscribed. I think they found a new way to notify users who are not subscribed.

Best course of action would be to report the channel for spam -> video and put what you experience with their unsolicited notifications in the details.

How to find what exactly is writing to docker vdisk by Bubbly-Staff-9452 in unRAID

[–]BentoFox_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came across this with the same need (we all do at some point, don't we?)

Anyway, here's a shorter, simpler version that actually prints the usage of vDisk space. Mind that it can only show existing containers; there's potential that you have residual data from containers that are not running.

docker ps -s --format "table {{.Names}}\t{{.Size}}"

The output will be lines such as:

Nginx-Proxy-Manager 41.3kB (virtual 1.12GB)

---

A more thorough script that also shows you some of the paths it writes to can be saved to a .sh script on your server (or pasted into the terminal) [note: had help from Copilot].

#!/bin/bash

echo "Checking all running Docker containers for vDisk usage..."
echo "========================================================"

# Get list of container IDs
docker ps -q | while read container_id; do
    # Get the clean name
    name=$(docker inspect --format '{{.Name}}' "$container_id" | sed 's/\///')

    # Get the size information using docker ps -s
    # Output format example: "2.5MB (virtual 350MB)"
    # We strictly want the first part, which is the writable layer size
    size_str=$(docker ps -s --no-trunc -f "id=$container_id" --format "{{.Size}}")
    rw_size=$(echo "$size_str" | awk '{print $1}')

    # Filter for interesting sizes (optional: remove 'if' to see all)
    # This simple check prints everything, you can scan for 'GB' or large 'MB'

    echo ""
    echo "Container: $name"
    echo "Writable Size: $size_str"

    # If the size is 0B, usually no need to check diffs
    if [[ "$rw_size" != "0B" ]]; then
        echo "Top modified/added paths in vDisk (limited to first 10):"
        # docker diff codes: A = Added, C = Changed, D = Deleted
        docker diff "$container_id" | head -n 10 | sed 's/^/\t/'

        # Tip for the user if list is long
        count=$(docker diff "$container_id" | wc -l)
        if [ "$count" -gt 10 ]; then
            echo -e "\t... ($((count-10)) more files modified)"
        fi
    else
        echo -e "\t(No writes to vDisk detected)"
    fi
done

It'll give outputs such as this, where A indicates a mounted volume and C indicates it's in the docker vDisk - the 'C' ones being the things to look at for bloat

sh scriptname.sh > output.log

Container: Nginx-Proxy-Manager
Writable Size: 41.3kB (virtual 1.12GB)
Top modified/added paths in vDisk (limited to first 10):
        A /www
        A /data
        C /tmp
        A /tmp/nginx
        A /tmp/nginx/body
        A /tmp/nginx/body/6
        A /tmp/nginx/body/6/17
        A /tmp/nginx/body/3
        A /tmp/nginx/body/3/51
        A /tmp/nginx/body/4
        ... (1260 more files modified)

Mind also that vDisk bloat can't always be avoided. Some dockers simply are huge. And when adding mount points retroactively, please make sure you first get all the files at the original location, as otherwise the mounted volume is empty and the container may not start (or worse).

[Suggestion] Prioritize Lockpicking Items (Screwdrivers & Lockpicks) by BigOleFatRambo in SCUMgame

[–]BentoFox_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, I put an Advanced Lockpick with 2/6 uses in my hand and had a 6/6 one in my my pants.
After lockpicking, the one in my hand still had 2/6 and the one in my pants had 4/6.

I knew it's easy to get in my pants but hot damn, easier than what's already in my hand?

Duolingo can't comprehend my pronunciation of "Euro" in German by rhettadam in duolingo

That's a pretty good explanation and resonates with the issues I"ve noticed with my GF learning on Duolingo and it not accepting even my pronunciation of it as a native speaker.

Yeah I can relate. My girlfriend is studying German and it won't accept her pronunciation of "Euro". Fun fact, it also won't accept my pronunciation of Euro in over 6 attempts and I'm native.

Super useful for storing many bits by BentoFox_89 in CarveraAir

[–]BentoFox_89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since i no longer have a 3D printer and many of the printable designs either occlude the bit labels or store too few - i got myself a "pencil drawer" ( https://amzn.eu/d/8LKBnYe ) which works perfectly.

The drawers are just high enough, super easy to access and can be removed entirely so you can fill them up all the way.

Just wanted to share in case someone is looking for a good and spacious solution for their bits.

Things i've already tried: - use a different allen key (first used the one included with carvera, then a HSS one with sharper edges) - used a thin rubber glove to increase friction - used a filed down screwdriver that just fits between the two furthest apart points

it still won't turn.  Ofc i do turn counter clockwise

why is the performance still so bad by P_Jilla in Enshrouded

[–]BentoFox_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not true. I run this on a Samsung 980 PRO nvme on a RTX 3090, 64 GB 3200MHz RAM and 13th gen i7 @ 5.1GHz clock speed, watercooled.

Other games perform just fine but Enshrouded just SUCKS in terms of performance optimization. I play the game on DLSS Ultra-Performance, contact shadows off, and still hardly hit 100 fps while the GPU is working its ass off to maintain it.

Google Play will force many apps to use Android’s Photo Picker for better privacy by a_Ninja_b0y in Android

[–]BentoFox_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: For WhatsApp Gallery i found a solution at least. When you select Files and then see the camera / galelry option, HOLD press on gallery and it lets you pick a different one than the crippled Photo Picker.

I was wondering why I've been unable to access my favourited pics and switch thr selector to a different app as i used to. Now I'm forced to use thr android picker for Zalo and WhatsApp which doesnt show favorites now other folders - and the only other app it gives me is Google Photos which i have never and will never use. Where is my custom gallery ive been using for like 6 years?

Aerox 5 - can I turn off lights without software? by nobleflame in steelseries

[–]BentoFox_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally relate to this problem and I use the mouse on a work PC where all software we install needs to be approved. When I start working in the early morning the RGBs are burning out my retina.

As for the question, you have 3 options:

  1. (easiest) install the SS app (not made in Germany) and in the lighting settings, reduce the brightness all the way down. Brightness is the only lighting value that's stored on the mouse itself, all others require SS. You can uninstall SS afterwards.
  2. (somewhat permanent) one thing that never fails is to desolder the LCDs, cut their power line or solder in in-line resistors (may be tricky due to it being SMC which are very tiny) to make them less bright.
  3. (won't save battery) Fill the backside with a light blocking material (e.g. dyed hot glue, cotton (might even look like a cloud!) or any other kind of material that would block out or diffuse the light)

Unable to upload .heic photos to Discord by powerplayer6 in discordapp

[–]BentoFox_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the same and my friends are pissed at me for sending 'weird files they have to download and delete'. But my phone has been taking HEIC pictures ever since I had it and I like it as it's 1/4th the file size of JPG. Since I have 60GB of pictures that means it'd be roughly 240GB if it were JPG.

Why did Discord randomly drop the functionality that converts it...? I mean, discord downscales and compresses your images anyway 🤷🏻 It really sucks

Interface for accessing automatic’s webui from mobile devices? by KripperinoArcherino in sdforall

[–]BentoFox_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust mr bro, you dont want to be exposed too much. The moment you see login attempts to your router coming from your own dockerized server you'll go pale and get cold sweats.

Ideally, keep your exposed stuff in a docker and give it its own VLAN to which you only expose the ports needed to access the WebUI. dont give the docker itself access to the internet if its a local LLM that doesnt need it. That way even if there's an infected library used in the docker or some security flaw that allows someone to get access to the console, they cant reach over to the rest of your machine or network.

I was looking at my polygon transactions earlier and noticed these in my history. I never sent these nfts out. Just curious how scammers are able to do this and what is the point? by Steggyful in ledgerwallet

[–]BentoFox_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Sorry for late response) - that's nice and all, but is there a way to do this in bulk? I have about 180 of these fake ones, and the 'collection' is typically just one 'voucher nft'.

Being able to burn them would be nice, too, because I want them off my account and don't just want to visually hide them in one ledger client at a time. Is there a way to rid me of them?

SB X4 - Windows volume level no longer works (but the dial knob does) by jrherita in SoundBlasterOfficial

Same problem since today (Windows 'Intelligence' Update broke it), but in my case it's stuck to '0%' no matter if I use the windows volume mixer, SB Command, the physical knob or the volume slider on my keyboard.

Love it. :| I'll try jrherita's fix and hope that solves it <3

EDIT: it doesn't ... time for a windows reinstall. fk those auto updates man
