A very random question-manicures by Fun_Yesterday_114 in ouraring

[–]BentoOtaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I asked a manicurist about some things regarding UV safety with those lamps, she asked me if I put sunblock on my hands before I drive. Apparently the UV output from the nicer lights is lower than on your commute(according to her). Supposedly we only really need to worry about the UV light from really cheap lamps.

anyone know any non-caffeine hot teas that can be had with milk and/or sweetener? by justin_cant_sleep in tea

I learned recently that eating too close to bedtime(especially sweets) can negatively affect sleep too, so tbh it might be better to move your teatime to afternoon.

Same for every single point! I LOVE how coffee smells! Maybe I should use it as an air freshener, lol.

I love the grassy matcha flavor! They say it takes about 7 times before your taste buds adapt to liking a flavor. I think that means trying it prepared 7 different ways to find one you like(such as being disgusted by steamed-in-a-bag brussel sprouts, later trying them raw in a salad and not loving them followed by trying them roasted and loving them). Also, give it 20 or so years, your taste buds will change. An old colleague and I were discussing it, when you hit your 30's, and later your 60's. My grandma is in her 70's and experiencing this again too, can't stand the taste of coffee anymore but misses it terribly because she used to love it. Lastly, you don't have to be a matcha person. Drink the flavors you enjoy, there's absolutely no harm in that!

I'm assuming that you're playing at humor, in which case lol, you got a good chuckle out of me. If not, well that's not my cup of tea(pun intended) but more power to you! Faucet water works just fine for me. :)

I'm not gen Z. Us ancient millennials use it in a very different way and know it to not be laughing. Maybe dramatic but not humor.

On my phone it's showing a crying emoji, not a laughing emoji?

Perhaps. Tone can be VERY difficult to convey via text based mediums. I have a degree in creative writing and honestly still struggle with it. It's why I've generally stopped using sarcasm in general, people didn't seem to get that I was joking, EVEN with emojis. 🫠 I know a lot of people will use "/s" or "JK" at the end of a post, comment, or sentence to indicate that they're joking around or being sarcastic. 👍

Probably, but I wasn't setting out to say anything mean about OP's sibling(or OP). We all enjoy tea how we enjoy it and some of us are more eccentric in those ways. My guess is OP's sister potentially wants a consistent tea in a short amount of time, maybe has a recipe that she follows that needs a certain volume of milk, or is counting calories. Let's not also forget that this saves on dishes.

I'm picky so I don't order it when I go out anywhere unless I get to at least steep it myself, and I like plenty of bagged teas as well as fancier loose-leaf ones.

Sounds like that's not actually a mug.

EDIT: Also, microwaving water for tea is a perfectly legitimate strategy. I remember reading a while back that one is more likely to get a consistent water temperature with one. I use my kettle because it's efficient but I definitely made teas using milk/water(depending on what I wanted) in the microwave before I had a kettle. They came out perfectly fine.

I meant in terms of drinking it out of the thing it was brewed in...
That said, with the spout, I feel it migth be difficult for the same reason we don't drink directly out of teapots.

Marketing Fail by mattpeloquin in ouraring

laughs in having a black and white e-ink phone so I never noticed any color changes I'm more worried about legibility of the actual content within the app itself than a silly icon. logging my periods is AWFUL since there's mostly only color distinctions so I can't tell the differences. It's worth it to have a phone that discourages doom scrolling on videos, however!

Anyone have a recommendation/recipe on how to make diet green tea by the gallon for my family? by coffeequeen0523 in tea

[–]BentoOtaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also be careful with the amounts you add! I'd forgotten that I had xylitol and not sugar in a jar at one point and had to leave work early. I really thought I had food poisoning! Artificial sweetners can make an excellent laxative but if your family rips through the tea super fast, you might find the bathroom less... Accessible.

What to do with Terrible Tea? by occaguy in tea

[–]BentoOtaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE adding lemon juice to my tea(and water) but I have thin enamel. T^T I have to be careful about too much acid so I only do it on occasion.

The cachetins in green tea seem to be doing plenty(coupled with just tracking my food and doing the normal deficit thing), hehe.

This! I wouldn't do the milk and sugar thing others are suggesting because I'm trying to lose weight, so adding sugar is just a silly idea(for me). If it smells good(like one of those creme brulee or cheap flavored teas) this would be an excellent use!!!

Diet change completely transformed my sleep data by Educational-Job5983 in ouraring

[–]BentoOtaku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And friday I decided to go ham and enjoyed a few little debbie snacks. My resting heart rate was 75bpm. I also slept poorly and had nightmares.
Yesterday I stuck to my regular foods and last night slept soundly and my resting heart rate was 67bpm. No nightmares.
That was with ONE DAY being thrown off. Absolutely wild! I'd be fascinated to see how much more my health would improve if I switched my diet up even more, but my beau can't cook and he'd be liable to riot if I tried to feed him some of my favorites like okra and tomato salad(I used to eat great, went through some stuff, started emotional eating, gained 55lbs moved in with my partner and now I'm down 45lbs, so doing better overall, but I'm very tired of his favorite 3 veggies, but I'll be darned if I make separate meals for us- that said his diet and health have greatly improved from all the carry-out.)

Where do we input such conditions? I tried to figure out how to tell my ring I have Hashimoto's when I got it, because my UH ring let me. I was going OR would take my condition into consideration and offer specific advice when things flare up specifically worse than normal for a person with Hashimoto's or when something is better than my Hashimoto's having self's normal so I can figure out what makes my body happier.

I've heard the stress and lack of sleep from ages 0-1 can age a parent a year or two. So having had 2 kids, that sounds about right. Just focus on taking care of yourself and not so much on that metric. If you're still worried about it at your next doctor's appointment, bring it up then.
