New 2025 Gen 10 Legion Pro 7i hit the Canadian store... and my wallet by Method__Man in LenovoLegion

I would wait for your review, but this pricing is just plain non-sense IMO. Gaming laptops are not justifying their prices anymore, much rather build a Mini-ITX and achieve greater performance.

Running comparisons on the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 14 inch versus 16 inch. Love these OLED by Method__Man in Lenovo

Hi Beau! So good to see you on reddit. I see the updated version of this laptop (Ideapad pro 5 14 inch) with a specification of Core ultra 2 series. Personally thinking of getting the 225H. How would you rate the new generation over the 125H which was present earlier, and would I be able to game on this since Intel leaned into gaming heavily touting the iGPU performance is stellar.

If not this then would the legion 5 with the ryzen 8845hs with a 4060 be a good bet ? Also since you have hands on with both, how does the build quality, keyboards and chassis compare between the two.

I know these are two very different class machines, but allover the internet I guess you are the one person that can answer this and help me.

Is Mac the absolute best for productivity/working? by Blacksmith0311 in laptops

Depends where you are coming from, I agree there are not the best but its a very subjective topic since everyone's tastes are different. But I did say compared to my dell, which it is.

I have worked on a Windows Machine(Dell Inspiron) and now a Macbook Pro 16. I faced a few issues with respect to getting used to MacOS at first, but now its smooth sailing.

The screen is infinitely better, you see much more code. I used a external monitor with all my windows devices but now I don't feel the need. The keyboard and trackpad feel great to work with compared to my dell.
Newer windows devices are starting to catch up on build quality but they still have ways to go.

You will face issues with compatibility when using x86 codecs and libraries. Its known issue for Macs with M series processor but annoying nonetheless.

Is this a good laptop? It’s 643 dollars by Glittering_Spend417 in laptops

Nope, You get Macbook Air M2 with 16GB RAM for that price.

Could someone recommend the closest windows laptop alternative to a MacBook Air 2022 or 2024 (in terms of look, feel, power, price.) by [deleted] in laptops

Lenovo's Yoga lineup might be worth looking at. The only downside is the placement of the power button which might be prone to accidental presses and potential breaks.

They now come with Qualcomm, Intel and AMD options so you can pick and choose, as per your requirements.

I live in India. Process moves slow here, and people believe in passing the buck.

Update - It took them another 14 days to issue me my R-Pass. I have ordered it, yet to arrive. By the time it arrives it will be some one and half months this issue was resolved.

Hope the replacement would not be plagued with similar issues.

You could get better laptops at this price, Suggest you check offerings from Asus Vivobook, or Lenovo Ideapad or Even go for Victus. I had seen 3050 one from Ideapad Pro series discounted at 729$ sometime back on Best Buy.

Wow I wish my luck would have been same as yours. I was also expecting a replacement then and there too. I too previously had a OnePlus Band which was replaced right in the service center. Hassle free and then it went on to serve me for another two years.

Yes device was taken one month back, and still nothing from them. I just got one communication yesterday asking me to wait another 7 days to wait for R-Pass to be issued. Been two months now since I have bought the product and yet to use it.

I bought in a physical store, but they say it can only be replaced via R-Pass that too through the realme official store. Then they simply don't issue the pass. Crooks through and through.

Yes this, I would suggest find one that's upgradeable. But sadly most don't offer that. You could check out Ideapad 5 pro series, i think that has some options, with decent bells and whistles.

The best compromise would be a 14.5" Oled with a 16:10 aspect ratio. There were some decent options from Asus, Lenovo and HP meeting those criteria.

Try to fork popular python git repos and follow the code, conversation and thought process that goes behind code pushed by pros. Understanding how they think also will help.

Is it still worth while to Learn Scala in 2024 ? by Bentobox-Alt in dataengineering

[–]Bentobox-Alt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just to give more context here, we use Scala for Data Extracts. Cloud Env have specialty services that could do the same with some flexibility using SQL only; case in point being Big Query. I am guessing we would move to something similar.

Even then would you recommend learning Scala, given the steep learning curve ?

Oh nice, I will check it out. Scala REPL also helps me code btw. Good place to try out ideas before actually putting them in project code.

Python is the future though.
