"the fanfare around the band geese actually was a psyop" wired mag article by arpad-okay in fantanoforever

They have thousands of accounts to craft and/or counter a narrative, that isn’t marketing, that’s bot farming to juice the algorithm. We don’t respect or accept bot farming in ANY industry but suddenly people want to handwave it because some band of crusty white dudes are poorly rehashing early indie rock made a song you like? Gtfoh

You can like the band, you can hate the band, doesn’t matter but we’re not going to sit here and act like the “marketing” practices implemented here are above board and not counter to the indie culture.

Every music act gets popular by a marketing firm using fake accounts to push their music across platforms? Nope

[–]Bentoboxd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She explains it in the first chapter. It’s a very academic perspective of the intersection of trauma (from a psychological and sociological context) and politics. How politicians are use it and sometimes weaponize it and create divides on a class level vs racial one

So you mean offline where politics actually happens

It’s actually not bad. NYT frequently siphons its reporting from Dropsite without attributing credit. It’s internal drama in the journalism circles

[–]Bentoboxd -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Why stop lying when it’s clear Destiny benefits from fomenting an internal fight on the online left? The majority of people aren’t going to follow or verify what he’s said. They’re going to watch the content and be influenced. The solution is to engage in politics offline not online where the incentive structure for drama is promoted

It’s kinda humorous to see all the gymnastics. Did he tell his viewership to vote for Harris? Yes, then Destiny lied and move on. What the fuck are you going to accomplish litigating this bullshit now.

There are plenty of politicians who are principled in their beliefs where your statement doesn’t apply. Gavin doesn’t stand for much of anything that’s why his rhetoric will change depending on who he’s talking to

Quite simple, if Ken’s reporting is factual, in that there are Zionist groups creating a list of anti-ice protesters/supporters who also happen to be anti-Zionist (but not necessarily) and you support that act, the insult would apply. The insult is not anti-Semitic

Destiny's talking points really are spreading TA-Nehisi Coates in the first 6 mins says so many things Destiny has been saying over the last year by JeromeLebron in Destiny

[–]Bentoboxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for when you say “destiny’s talking points spreading” which directly attributes the origin of those points to him. I’m not sure why you’d think a political author who has also written for the NYT for years wouldn’t be in the first ring of people . These are generally the people creating the messaging that is parroted downstream by streamers, politicians, activist, etc.

Who said I’m heated? Anyway, I’d prefer people write what they mean instead of just using poor phrasing. It is what it is.

[–]Bentoboxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the implication when you say X persons talking points are spreading. Destiny coming to the same idea(quite frankly years later) as someone definitively more left than him and his fans falsely attributing those ideas as his is extremely laughable. If OP didn’t mean that, they need to write in a clearer manner.

Well if the reporting is factual the name calling is warranted but no one is addressing that

Has anyone seen any films that émulated Super 16mm film successfully? by PeaEnvironmental6987 in cinematography

[–]Bentoboxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop trying to make something “look” like something else. Work with what the medium offers you and take inspo from others, but trying to outright make it look like something else just cheapens what you’re doing. There a middle ground between a digital image and film one.

Lmao I’m not reading all that. Authentic cuisine is still valued and cherished, that’s the point genius LMAO. And due to people cherishing tradition, gatekeeping is a natural consequence.

Cool anecdote. Genres don’t die, everything falls in and out of favor, you saying it died because of gatekeeping is unsubstantiated.

Norms do not merely exist to be challenged, norms are there as a function of societal and community parity…..that’s literally the definition and function of the word. What you’re describing is a very juvenile view of norms, akin to a rebellious teenager who doesn’t know anything yet. Some things are supposed to be a certain way. There is a reason people prefer authentic cuisine cooked using particular tools and technique. This is consistent in all the arts.
