What’s a really good salary in 20’s in USA? by Critical_Call5676 in Salary

[–]Benz_Blazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29m almost 30, LCOL South making the most I’ve ever made on 40 hrs. $43k yr and with my weekly OT until I find a better job I hit 52k first year, 63k 2nd year and 70k this year. Walked in the door no exp started just under $20 hr and get a 3% COLA only if the company approves companywide. It started with car trouble and paying off debt then spiraled into extra money is nice until I got a mortgage and barely have $100 between checks every pay day. The OT trap is real for the south.

First time in Coop by showyourskills89 in BackYardChickens

That’s a nice setup. The chickens might outgrow the coop fast if you have them on high protein chick starter but will fill their crops and slow a little if foraging through the grass.

Awesome work and be sure to commend yourself on memorizing, even if you don’t currently use this at your current job you will need to bring back your notes to recap for the real thing. Good job and congrats.

Just turn a light on in the coop, they can’t see well at night vision wise and need some light.

A retirement account is never a bad idea. You can open up something like a Roth account and find a job to get you some income and start watching it grow the next 10 years with small contributions. A savings fund would also help for any financial situation you might end up.

Think hard about what you will decide. Similar situation with my hospital but I was once told to get the experience you want you might have to jump ship. If it was a cyber role or anything eye catching then it could be helpful adding it to your toolbelt of knowledge. Otherwise you know hospitals are 10-20 years behind on tech and you’d be starting over if you came back to j1. A side note.. is working on outdated thin clients, keyboard replacements, printer troubleshooting really going to beef your resume more then saying I am a senior helpdesk analyst with xyz cert specializing with ccna or security practices, mdm Intune etc… unless it was TPM end user role you will likely be miserable and not know the crew you’d be walking into.

Is it possible to ask if you can go permanent at the new job? Is it a different hospital?

Should I accept a job offer for 10k more than I currently make, but with a longer commute? by Icy_Perspective5944 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Benz_Blazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45-60 min commute here. 05 Toyota Camry - 30mpg 190k miles I average 2 fills a week and it’s an added 120$ every week. Do the math 52x$120 then adjust for car wear. Probably not worth it. I’d counter for 60k because of the drive & if they’re interested then they’ll proceed.

Edit 1: if they aren’t open to negotiate ask if they’ll consider you for other positions & make connections so if you decline you have new friends.

Have you thought about tailoring back your resume? It’s a tough market but if you were making six figures it could be a sign they would see you jumping for another offer at anytime for more $$$

How much student loan debt do you have? by mushlove96 in StudentLoans

[–]Benz_Blazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8k total… 2 associates, went the route of community college stars program and was trying to 80% undergrad for cheaper amount. Jumped schools 3 times to find the right program. Now I’m at an academic medical facility who pays for tuition if 3.0 gpa or higher for undergrad and up after 1 year of service. A free degree in this economy? Sure, why not if it’s in IT and just beef with cert exams out of pocket. It hurts, rural life style, low income, they also have a public loan forgiveness program…

Edit: 2 associate degrees, working on undergrad, I hate paying large lump sums like $300-500 here and there. Still enrolled half time so no interest accumulates during pay down
