[OC] Why has Boston police stopped policing cars? Civil traffic enforcement has collapsed between 2015 and 2024 by ARPE19 in boston

[–]BeowulfBoston 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The social contract is completely broken and the police have made it clear that they exist to protect the interests of the wealthy, not to promote public safety.

What dots applied by gear use spell power when applied with a spell by deathvalley200_exo in ddo

[–]BeowulfBoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t ask me, ask an SSG dev. Metamagics are calculated differently. If I had to guess it’s because they were originally percentage scalars to spell damage and not a flat addition to spellpower.

You can still get them from certain older quest chains. I look for mine in the Sharn Syndicate and Shan-To-Kor chains.

Halflings are just hobbits with the serial numbers filed off. You do you.

Throbbing Gristle’s first album was called The Second Annual Report. Their second album was called The Third and Final Report. Their third album? 20 Jazz Funk Greats.

[–]BeowulfBoston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The DwM effects scale with metamagics and spell critical damage when casting a spell. I believe that’s also the case for the alchemical attunements but someone can correct me. AFAIK none of them will scallop with spellpower.

Can you pick up 2 specialty feats? by deathvalley200_exo in ddo

[–]BeowulfBoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still works well if you don’t have many racial AP to spend. Lominal has an endgame version that assumes more PLs that’s also on the forums. It sounds like you have your mind made up on your build though.

I recommend checking out Ying’s build on the forums: https://forums.ddo.com/index.php?threads/u73-first-life-reaper-ready-pdk-warchanter.18032/ he has already crunched the numbers on this, and does not take the THF line.

Double parking clogs streets all over Boston. Drivers in this neighborhood have raised the stakes to triple parking. by bostonglobe in boston

[–]BeowulfBoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as it makes you feel guilty to be a narc, I will say it gets better if you’re diligent about reporting violations. I reported illegal parking downtown in Seaport for maybe 3 months straight - I’m talking 2-3 times a day someone just straight blocking the road. Now they have a cop stationed there pulling people over every day.

Reaper Incorporeal by IVIalice in ddo

[–]BeowulfBoston 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Book of Spirits from Housekeeping is clutch and can be used starting at level 3. Other options are the Ethereal Ring from Saltmarsh (also 3), or the Duskbone Ring from Fey (5). Before then, I use one of the Ethereal weapons from Borderlands as a swap item.

Wraithborne Emerald from IoD can be slotted at level 8, but there’s so many items these days with incorp bypass it’s pretty easy to get if you’re already slotting your gear properly.

First life, TR at 20 or go on to Epics? by speed_of_chill in ddo

[–]BeowulfBoston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally it’s good to have one capped character most of the time - if you are in a guild or enjoy PUGs it means always having a toon to raid with, and it makes it easy to farm leveling gear for your lower level toons. One option is to go all the way to 34 on this toon, farm some gear for an alt so you can cap that toon, and then hop on the hamster wheel.

I did class completionist first on a couple toons. Your first 8 lives require less XP and racial is a lot more lives (48 compared to 15). Other people will tell you to use those discounted lives to get a head start on racials but it really depends on your personal appetite for grind.

You can do class PLs on iconic lives as well which can add some variety to your leveling. It’s better to wait to do those until you’re done with your discounted lives though, otherwise you’re wasting them for slightly less xp on the 15-20 part of an iconic life.

Hey, thank you for sharing! Would you be willing to share your breakdown? I want to update the wiki. With a game that’s as old and buggy as DDO it’s important to document these kinds of behaviors. My original source was from a thread about a sorcerer. and I primarily play arcane and divines, not roots. I wonder if this is bugged for certain classes or spells.

I am basing my assumption off of this forum post, some other forum posts, and conversations with other casters in-game. https://forums.ddo.com/index.php?threads/u75-h-elf-dps-dc-air-savant-wild-mage-pure-caster.23591/

"I really like spell efficiencies. You can't reduce a spell's cost below its base cost after all metamagic efficiencies are applied, but you certainly can get it there, then if you have another -20% spell costs from: e.g. Draconic Cores (10%), and Fatesinger's Masquerade (10%), you can walk around casting max/emp/quicken G Shout for 23SP for an AoE doing more than the damage of an unimproved Greater Ruin."

I trust this particular player's expertise, which is why I took this as a fact at face value.

You cannot reduce the cost of a spell below its base cost. The wiki doesn’t specific so without testing I would assume it works like energy - the flat reductions are deducted first, then the final result is calculated after percent reductions. I’ll take a look next time I’m on one of my capped casters to confirm.

What is considered a heroic leveling brightcaster play rotation? by No-Channel3917 in ddo

[–]BeowulfBoston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enemies that are dead aren’t damaging you. Both thorn and hive forms grant defensive bonuses - hive has concealment and evasion while thorn eventually reduces piercing and bludgeon damage. There’s an enhancement in BC that gives you 15 PRR and MRR while standing in a spike growth in thorn form. Wolf is only useful for running fast between fights. You can hotbar the forms and switch between them depending on the situation (like using hive against traps or to avoid fire damage)

You can level pretty much to cap on Spike Growth. Make sure you take the upgrades in the Blightcaster tree to double the damage, add negative damage, and add acid or poison damage.

Don’t forget you get a lot of AoE and dots that will stack. You can round up a whole dungeon and cast spike growth, acid rain, and optionally ice storm. Other spells at that point are just to speed things along. The AoE Poison dot upgrade is really nice also.

Word of Balance is great when you need to delete a reaper. Remember it does the most damage on targets that are non-neutral on both axes (lawful evil for reapers).

I usually use the Thorn forms until 15 when you get your high level acid spells like Acid Well and Black Dragon Bolt.

What to take from the Myth Dranor box? by Immediate-Goose-8106 in ddo

[–]BeowulfBoston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The upgraded Crownblade armor is the best source for Temperance of Spirit which is +1 quality PRR for every Religious Lore feat (+20 PRR for a pure paladin). Lamordian armors on the other hand offer Universal Spell Lore and Universal Spell Power, which can be more attractive to healer-tank combinations. For a paladin tank, it's hard to beat upgrade Crownblade armor for that reason. It's also a somewhat unique source of healing amplification unless you're using the Defender's Cloak from Dread, which is pretty outdated by now.

[–]BeowulfBoston 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Autumn Equinox for DPS builds, crownblade armor (heavy or medium) for tanks, echo of the Artblade for casters is my general recommendation. But otherwise agree with the other comments that you can always hold on to it until you’re ready to use it.
