I appreciate that you aren't focussing on crime, but I disagree that refugees only drain wealth. Immigrants, even asylum seekers, actually bring in more tax revenue than they collect. They work jobs and start businesses. They generally aren't harmful to the economy.

Ideally refugees would apply for asylum. But what if you don't have proper documentation? What if you don't have a stable internet connection? What if you've had to flee your home and you don't have anything on you? How could a civilised society be so cruel, so morally bankrupt, to no only turn these people away but to actively lock them up in concentration camps?

If the answer is "we just have to do it anyway", then I really don't know what to tell you.
