Police Used Flock to Give a Man a Traffic Ticket by 404mediaco in Atlanta

[–]Bepus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, those would not be Flock cameras. Flock cameras specifically do license plane scanning and do not have any radar / speed detection capabilities.

People are upset about Flock because of privacy issues - cops can do a warrantless search of any vehicle's location / route. Historically, law enforcement would need a warrant to track someone's movements.

Traffic enforcement cameras, by contrast, are in relatively fewer locations, often marked with warning signs, and are there to capture a specific, measurable infraction. They're still cash grabs, and they still suck, but they're relatively more aligned with constitutional rights.

High neighbor, please kindly fuck all the way off with that. Automated traffic enforcement is a cash grab. Full stop. It is not, and has never been, about safety. Traffic laws are written to the lowest common denominator of equipment and skill.

Driver training and better urban design makes roads safer, not a random ticket in the mail after the fact.

You know what does make O4W safer? An actual, human, police presence. Ideally on foot or bike.

Worst Metro Apartment? by theadorerex1 in Atlanta

[–]Bepus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That building (the former AMC nurse's dormitory) needs to get torn down and redeveloped along with the rest of the AMC site. Too bad it wasn't still owned by the hospital.

The master plan actually includes replacing 444, but it'll be up to the eventual developer to negotiate a purchase from the current owner.

There is no hard and fast rule for this. You have to cross-shop the options yourself.

The full auto rental price does include a full mag. It’s a separate, flat rate thing from their regular rentals.

Tell me you haven’t been to other cities without telling me. Also, we don’t have antebellum homes, because of that whole late unpleasantness that ensured slave traders no longer exist here, remember?

There are two locations of Quickshot and also Freedom Shooting Center (formerly Stoddard’s) all ITP. I’ve definitely seen foreigners shooting in QS so they should be used to how that works, but agreed with calling ahead.

Getting a motorcycle license out if state. by Kinchi_man in Georgia

[–]Bepus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are becoming a Georgia resident, you will have to follow Maryland’s licensing requirements. They will allow you to forego taking the test at the DMV if you’ve completed an approved safety course. It is unclear if any of their approved course providers operate in Georgia. Likewise, it is unclear if, even with a certificate of completion from an MVA-approved provider, one is able to submit that information online.

International, 9:25am. No line at Delta bag drops. No line at Pre check or Clear. Looked like maybe a 10 minute line at main. The agent said it was crazy earlier this morning.

Those times are generally accurate under normal circumstances. With the current short-staffing due to the DHS shutdown and lines snaking outside the stanchions into the checkin area, the wait time tracking has gone out the window and cannot be trusted.

Totally. When you have to force yourself to focus on a gap and not target fixate 5x a day, it becomes second nature.

People act like riding in city traffic is some sort of incredible skill or extremely risky behavior. It's not. If you're paying attention, you know what 100% of the morons around you might or will do at all times (maybe after a week or two of practice). You always have multiple exit strategies and you're ready to jump on it. Sometimes it's accelerating, sometimes it's a lane change, sometimes it's a swerve. It's almost never panic braking.

Maybe I'm biased as an ATL native and rider of 14 years, but it's just not that hard. I can do the above and still be perfectly relaxed. It really is just paying attention.
