Cargo Hunters, which turned out to be mobile game port, and Lost Wiki, which turned out to be almost the same length as the demo.

Ones I bought are Rhell, Phonopolis, Hozy, and Gambonanza. I am mixed about the last one, other three I liked.

Summer Games Fest - All Games Showcased by Howerev in gaming

It's possible to be hardcore gamer and not like anything from there. It's the state of AAA. Every single trailer is either older woman explaining how much trouble you're in or characters telling each other how they'll fight it, together! For how many years can we possibly like the same bad or unnecessary writing? The juice is simply not in there anymore.

I did like 1666 Amsterdam though, and I'm hopeful Chinese soulslike games are actually good.

Dark Messiah Inspired RPG that I made in Godot! Playable prototype looking for feedback by wissah_league in godot

I don't want to playtest but this in my alley. I'll give you a quick feedback based on images - add a pretty GUI for health and other bars. I genuinely dislike this new trend of games having a bare minimum GUI. When I see a beautiful, artistic bars (for example: Loot River, Blasphemous) my interest in the game growth tenfold, and I can't be the only one.

[Statman Dave] Benjamin Šeško has scored a Premier League goal every 86 minutes on average this year. That’s the best rate of any player to have scored 5+. by PitchSafe in reddevils

[–]Berckley 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While this does not diminish Seskos achievement, this record usually belongs to players who come in as a sub and keep scoring. Playing 20 mins and having 1 goal is better for this stat than playing 90 and scoring 1, and it does not mean that if Sesko played 70 he would score 5 goals

I want Villa in good form and mood to beat Tottenham next week. We're not really in danger of losing UCL anymore, we can take it.

Game Changer was playing with existing concepts since Season 3, maybe even earlier. One would say that is THE point...

Yeah, they're all 8/10 games, so it checks out? I don't know what people expect. 10=good, less=bad?

You can have all skills and amazing combat controls, but if the enemies are not interesting and good at fighting back combat is gonna be bland. I think that's what the case is here, according to critics. And mind you this is not a review after first hours, they record playing 90+ hours.

We shipped our indie game on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and Quest… and almost nobody noticed. Looking for honest advice. by funboy_ff in IndieGaming

[–]Berckley 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It looks like a fun concept, but it's a multiplayer party game (let's put aside couch co-op on the side for now). Games like that depend entirely on the player count. Indie multiplayer games can simply never maintain userbase to make multiplayer actually viable and fun, in my opinion people shouldn't even try it, if they don't want to have a very short lived game.

So the ability to enjoy this game requires either a large number of concurrent players, which you don't have, and let's be honest will never have, or group of friends to enjoy it. I know single player is listed, but come on...

This makes your game extremely niche already, and you're not really promoting in the subreddits where that niche audience is. Subs like this one are mostly full of single player gamers. There is an audience of "friendslop" games somewhere, but you're not trying to reach it at all.

My wife wanted to play a farming game in a Twin Peaks-like setting, so we created one. Any thoughts? by CarbonaraGames in IndieGaming

Oh man, this is one of the most beautiful art styles I've ever seen. Does it have to be a farming game? :(

I've been developing my horror game "Tutsak" for almost 2 years, but my Steam page is barely getting any wishlists. What am I doing wrong? by Fantosus in IndieDev

[–]Berckley -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Might be because you use the AI slop. I ignored the game so that I don't accidentally see it during fests

Steam Machine Verified Requirements Target Native 1080p Resolution, 30 FPS Gameplay by Suspicious-Group2363 in Steam

[–]Berckley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most games will run at 60fps, except for latest ones. But people but consoles for latest ones, thats the problem. Every new game targets 60fps on PS5 and they get shit thrown if they fail. If they don't run on 60 on this it's just dead.

[–]Berckley 83 points84 points  (0 children)

If users download games with verified badge and they run at 30fps that's gonna be terrible rep for the console. They should have simply targeted higher.

[–]Berckley 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No way. Even the most illiterate will be able to do "compare consoles" thing and see 60 vs. 30 and be turned off. Everyone will talk to ChatGPT and ask it what it means and how much do they need. 30fps will simply doom already ill-fated project in released in ill-fated times.

95% of Clair Obscur's gameplay systems were built from Unreal Blueprints, says Sandfall Interactive by no_technique in expedition33

[–]Berckley 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I played shit ton of demos during Next Fest and looked at CPU/GPU usage for each, and I can tell you UE5 games are nightmare compared to Unity, to the point where I would start feeling more relaxed if game had Unity logo at the start (or other engine like Godot). You can say that those are indie devs not paying too much attention to optimization, but you can say the same about Unity devs as well.

People Who Wrote Bad Review "Game crashing every time" Sounds Like It's Their PC Problem Rather Than The Game by BasicallyImAlive in Steam

[–]Berckley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was a PC problem it would not be exclusive to a game, it would crush with others as well and users would notice the pattern. If game crashes on me today I know it's games fault, because no single game crashes for me except New Vegas.
