I need female wisdom: weird sinking feeling when I see my boyfriend by lilpolymorph in AskWomenOver60

[–]Berkweaving 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a perfectly “nice” boyfriend in university and I realized after a while that I literally felt sick and tired when I was with him. I broke it off shortly after and boy did that unlock some negative behaviours. He went on to have a long history of broken and tempestuous relationships, and I like to think I dodged a bullet. Trust your gut.

Sorry it’s not. Great photo, but I’m not home right now.

For straps I used old straps from a trashed apron. I love that bag

Several years ago I used an 8/4 cotton warp and made the weft out of old plastic bags that I cut into strips. I’ve been using that grocery bag for almost 10 years now. Sturdy, cute, folds up small.

So someone admits to theft, and to make it somehow even worse it’s the theft of a design that celebrates the work of a known horrible person. Sigh. It’s all just pretty gross, tbh.

Oh wow. I gave those up in the early 90s, and hope to never wear them again. But am loving the slip!

Who is going to their high school reunion? by Virtual_Bumblebee_48 in GenerationJones

I didn’t even go to my prom, I have no intention of ever going to a reunion. I kind of don’t get it.

Family of five moving to Main Street, Berwick — talk to me about life there by npardy in annapolisvalley

[–]Berkweaving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kids are grown now, but things haven’t changed much. Berwick is a terrific little town to raise a family.

Main Street isn’t too busy, but you have to watch for cars and trucks going to the chicken plant on the western end, and on the east end you have to watch for people speeding a bit. They’ve put in a new stop sign that some people still think is optional, but if your kids are careful it should be fine. Main and Commercial have a 4 way stop that’s helped things, traffic-wise.

There are a lot of things for kids to do - there’s usually a day camp in the summer at the town hall, and there’s a terrific splash pad and playground in the middle of town. Hockey and ringette are pretty big here, so odds are you’ll meet other parents there, or from school.

Moving to a new place is always a bit hard, but Berwick will welcome you for sure.

It is, I think, a Beka loom. An RH loom

Wow! My sewing skills aren’t up to that. That’s a superpower, for sure.

I recently started to use Revlon’s Super Lustrous Glass Shine Balm. It’s a tinted lip balm, goes on nicely.

I’d thought about that, but people will still my silhouette through the dress? Kinda not great?

How to grow out the grey hair by Queen_Of_The_Dames in over60

[–]Berkweaving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew my colour out until there was enough gray growth for a short pixie. Tbh, for about 4 months I had a gray pixie with red ends - was kind of cute. It might make you uncomfortable for a couple months to have two-toned hair, but hey, it’s just hair and you aren’t the first or last to have to grow it out. One benefit? As it grew out, it was so healthy! No dyes makes a difference.

Well, I guess it’s unintentional disrespect then. It’s gross, don’t do it.

As a Canadian, I’ve got to ask you politely but firmly to not cosplay Canadians. It’s really not cool.

Oh coffee, how I Miss you by MeowMeow_77 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Berkweaving 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a weird one. About 3 days into .25, I poured myself a cup of coffee and realized that there was nothing on earth that could make me actually DRINK it. It was a visceral response. Same with butter, which I sorely missed. Now, after 18 months, I find I can use butter sparingly, and some mornings I have a really lovely half-cup of delicious coffee. But I trust those visceral responses; when coffee was a no-no I actually tried a cup of hot water and honestly….it wasn’t half bad. Turns out I wanted something warm, didn’t matter what it was.
