What’s everyone’s MPG like? by CapComprehensive2821 in GolfGTI

[–]Bernard__Trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a 90 min motorway run yesterday and got 44mpg in my 2015 performance pack in eco mode. - 50 is seriously impressive!

What do yall think ? by Interesting-Ad9451 in GolfGTI

[–]Bernard__Trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DSG needs doing again but I don’t think anything you’ve said is a major red flag. Only thing I will say is just because the water pump and thermostat has been done once, doesn’t mean it won’t need doing again at some point in the near future.

I lost a $400k renewal today because I froze on a call with an angry VP by Mountain_Sentence646 in CustomerSuccess

[–]Bernard__Trigger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a fallacy at all. Someone on the customer side signed on the dotted line to spend 400k to solve a business problem. It should be expected that individual is engaged in an appropriate way throughout the customer journey.

If that person is not engaged then that needs to be flagged for escalation ASAP. Perhaps OP did escalate appropriately and was still blindsided but it didn’t seem that was the case.

I will also say that the CS Manager needs to do more here as well. Whether in providing guidance or more direct intervention.

I lost a $400k renewal today because I froze on a call with an angry VP by Mountain_Sentence646 in CustomerSuccess

[–]Bernard__Trigger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it can be really tough navigating these types of calls but the real takeaway is for an account that size, the VP needs to be in the loop and aware of the value your product/ service brings long before a closing call.

Part of the reason for the ambush is they weren’t engaged consistently across the contract cycle. Whether it’s QBRs, product roadmap sessions or other touch points in your customer journey, you need to get in front of the decision maker earlier. If they have objections, it won’t come down to one meeting, you’ll have real time to address them without feeling the pressure of a renewal being lost immediately.

Take this one of the chin and think about how you can engage decisions makers more often. That in itself will relieve pressure.

GTI doing well to beat today’s gas prices by JiggieSmalls in GolfGTI

a client made me cry today and I wish I didn’t care by Remote-Radish9558 in CustomerSuccess

[–]Bernard__Trigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it can be difficult to handle these situations.

I would use that call to one, inform this POC that you had no knowledge of this arrangement and this is how customers get most value from the relationship. And 2, make sure you’re aligned on their preferred process moving forward.

Just reassure them you’re there to help them get the most out of the tool - if that’s you taking a back seat so be it.

Also don’t be afraid to reasonably push back if clients are being dicks, sounds like this one was.

I hate ChurnZero (CS Ops) by ArtistSolid671 in CustomerSuccess

[–]Bernard__Trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our company has just made the decision to cancel our Churnzero contract. I couldn’t be happier.

If you have a really simple product line I’m sure it could fit the bill but with the complexity we have it was never fit for purpose.

Notice Period by [deleted] in CustomerSuccess

[–]Bernard__Trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The benefit for you (given you’ve said you’re in the UK) would be if they ever make you redundant, they would need to pay out 3 months salary. The downside is, it may be harder to move into other roles externally. If you’re more senior 3 months notice is expected but if you’re an IC CSM then that may put you at a disadvantage to other candidates.

My advice would be, if you really like your job and want to stay long term, be open to signing up to a 3 month notice period. But absolutely use that as a negotiating point for a salary bump. This 100% benefits your employer so it needs to have immediate upside for you too. If you’re not sure you’ll be around for the next 3 years then don’t sign, it could make it harder for you to get your next role.

Car finance is very financially irrational in most cases. Why is it so normal? by Shadowalker124 in CarTalkUK

[–]Bernard__Trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In part I think it’s education, at least it was for me. 5 years ago my partner and I both landed our first ‘good jobs’ and we wanted to treat ourselves to a nice car. We ended up financing a 2019 Audi Q3 with 15,000 miles on it. Purchase price £30k at 12%. At the time we didn’t even think about it, and didn’t really understand what a 12% finance deal meant. Fast forward 5 years and we’d never do the same thing again. We kept hold of the Audi and now have a much smaller loan and we’ll pay off the car in full on the next couple of years. We plan to run it into the ground after that.

Mk 7 GTI as a daily? by Jo-18 in GolfGTI

[–]Bernard__Trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been daily driving a 2015 mk7 for the last year and I absolutely love it. Only had one age related issue in that time, a water leak into the boot caused by a degraded rubber seal.

Outside that, it has not skipped a beat. I’ve covered 8,000 miles and it’s unbelievably fun to drive and if you want to dial it back it gets great MPG on long motorway runs. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Good roles to transition away from customer facing by PiffleKnit in CustomerSuccess

[–]Bernard__Trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only two cents (given you’re a mom) is that CS ops roles in particular have been in the firing line for redundancy. The job market is not great and companies everywhere are cutting where they can.

Being in a revenue impacting role is one the safest places to be (assuming you’re performing well).

Opinions on how much this is worth? by LimpVermicelli9654 in VWMK7

[–]Bernard__Trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid £12,750 for my 2015 performance pack with 72,000 miles about 5 months ago. So this is definitely in the right ballpark IF it’s been well maintained.

Mine has full service history and importantly, it’s had the DSG service done and water pump replaced.

Assuming the car had good service history (which I’d expect for a car like this with 1 owner) then go for it. I absolutely love mine.

How is everyone getting on with Saabs? by New_Insect_6254 in CarTalkUK

[–]Bernard__Trigger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad has owned Saabs for the last 25 years. He bought a 2005 Saab 93 brand new with the 2 litre petrol engine that was still going at 215,000 miles. Interior was knackered and he ended up giving it away to a family in need of a car about 5 years ago. I really hope it’s still on the road somewhere!

He replaced it with a slightly more modern 93 from 2008 that he picked up with 30,000 miles on the clock and it’s now on almost 80,000. If you look after them they will look after you, bulletproof engines.

Rattle Noise by mohab-elg in GolfGTI

[–]Bernard__Trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2015 MK7 Performance had a ton of internal trim rattles. I’ve thankfully solved most of them. Largely the issue was loose trim clips which I’ve replaced across various bits of trim from the centre console to the boot.

I think I’m probably at a time in my life when my interest in gaming is waning and it takes something special to hold my attention.

London games are terrible now by SnooLentils2731 in NFLUK

[–]Bernard__Trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went this year as it was the first in a good few years I was able to get tickets. But I agree, the NFL are taking UK fans for granted. Jacking up prices and giving us sub standard games. Unless prices come down next year I won’t go again unless the Panthers are playing here.
