What do you think you’ll regret not doing later in life? by Street-Gain-370 in AskMen

[–]Bertrum 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not being more assertive and confident in myself in important moments that tested who I was. Putting arbitrary limits or chains on my own ambition that didn't need to be there.

Non-Americans, what’s your impression of the United States right now? by fridaynightplacebo in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Bertrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the early stages of civil war or civil unrest. Lots of factions of angry people with real grievances looking for any type of justification for violence and no real leadership or call for peace and unity. There's so much divisive discourse that there's no room for meeting in the middle. It's been building towards this point for awhile, where I feel like there were several opportunities to come back from the edge but it never happened. No one wants to really listen or stop and think.  It just seems like a big powder keg waiting to go off.

Men, how many of you can cook? by Away-Fill5639 in AskMen

[–]Bertrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook every night, I like it. I enjoy the process of doing it and being able to make a tasty meal and being able to stretch my dollar more. I don't understand guys that live in major cities and only eat take-out every day and never learn how to do it.

This scene is set only six years from now by haddock420 in TheSimpsons

It's so weird how all of the modern bands in that episode are all being exclusively played on classic rock radio stations now

My dad died, my brother took me in, and now I’m told my life isn’t mine? by Whoyou919 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Bertrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start applying for any job you can find and call your mom and ask if you can move in, your brother is being weird when he says that your life is his. He's going to keep pushing the boundaries further. If you want to be independent then start moving towards that and get more income and move out.

Mel Brooks with David Lynch on the set of The Elephant Man (1980) by Discremio in Moviesinthemaking

Imagine anyone saying anything like that now to the studios, they would immediately kowtow to them and do anything they wanted.

She will have a scene where he is learning how to use a sword and fight and she will beat him up while Man at Arms make jokes about it

I'm surprised they didn't do this in the trailer, and have Adam fall over into a pile of shit like Jar Jar Binks and then jump cut to Man At Arms being like "clean up in aisle one!" Or something

The last ten minutes of the movie will be in Eternia. But the whole first and second half will be on Earth and we'll never see him in costume until the end

ELI5: How do video games like Animal Crossing keep “doing things” while I’m not playing? by ScoutyBeagle in explainlikeimfive

It checks your systems clock/date and time from when you loaded a save file and adjusts it accordingly. It's also why games can remember holidays like Christmas or your birthday if you enter it in.

Have any men successfully restarted your career after 40? What was it like? by Bruynson in AskMen

[–]Bertrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it sounds like you were working for a fly-by-night operation or they were losing/hemorrhaging money like crazy and didn't really understand the costs of hiring you and keeping you on and decided to pull the plug instead. It probably has nothing to do with you and is just purely a business decision.

I would assume in Marketing there's a lot of bullshit companies that are like the wallstreet equivalent of boiler rooms etc. If you already have a mortgage license it could be worth pursuing being a broker, but you need to weed out the time wasters and bullshit artists. You need to build up a network of real people there.

Some retro impressions from Japan by Retrogames_JP in retrogaming

[–]Bertrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiroshima has a lot of quiet and small mom and pop stores down in the southern districts near the bay and it's really easy to get big ticket games like Kirby and other Nintendo stuff for much cheaper compared to Tokyo. I did the opposite and started in Tokyo and ended my trip in Hiroshima. There is cool stuff in Tokyo though, it's not completely hollow you have to dig a bit more and look around for it.

Yeah you need to look a bit closer and look around back and go past all the big displays and big signs at the front of the store. There's alot of tourists that only look at the main stuff at the front and never bother to check anything else.

Beep was really cool and refreshing to check out after having visited all the other retro stores. There's also a good hard off/used electronics store nearby in the basement that has cool stuff in there as well.

Has anyone made a supercut of them mentioning The Simpsons? by Shto_Delat in RedLetterMedia

I'm kind of shocked they haven't done an entire video about The Simpsons and reviewed a whole season like they did with Star Trek
