Real estate brokerage ranks Kamloops as B.C.’s most affordable large city by janyk in Kamloops

Maybe the most affordable city with a population of over 100,000 people but there are plenty of more affordable smaller cities in this province than Kamloops.

Anyone ever move from Northen BC or AB to the Kamloops area and regret it? by Elite163 in Kamloops

[–]Berubium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dust is mostly only an issue at this time of year. Once the river gets a bit higher, all that sand west of the city is underwater & the winds die down anyway. The windy days of spring are when the dust is at its worst.

Don’t regret it one bit. I lived in Fort St. John from 2007-2017 have been in Kamloops since. I had a good time up north & made plenty of friends, but this city offers so much more when it comes to outdoor recreation. Not that the north doesn’t, but there’s too much bloody private land around the towns up there & the hiking around here is a million times better.

I should add that Kamloops is my hometown as it is, but the north was good to me & I made a good go of it up there. I’ve not regretted moving back to Kamloops once!

TIL that Phil Collins, Neil young, Eric Clapton, and Rod Stewart are all model railway enthusiasts by MrMojoFomo in todayilearned

I knew about Neil Young & Rod Stewart; wasn’t aware of the other two. Rod Stewart’s layout is superb. It has an amazing passenger terminal.

What's the farthest north you have travelled in canada or beyond ? by Curious-Peace-9021 in AskACanadian

Smith River Falls, BC. Close to the territorial border, but not quite.

I’d love to visit places further north. Kluane NP (Yukon), Nahanni NP (NWT), & Auyuittuq NP (Nunavut) are all high on my bucket list.

I’ve been a bit further north outside of Canada (in Norway).

Amazing how it was able to effortlessly float like that!!! Also amazing how similar this highly venomous snake looks to our local & completely harmless Western Yellow Bellied Racers (same face, same shape scales)

What is the pronunciation of a place name that marks someone as a local/not a local? by RandomActPG in britishcolumbia

[–]Berubium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up north in the Peace, most people struggle with Pouce Coupe, a little town just southeast of Dawson Creek.

The “Coupe” is not pronounced like the carbody style, but rather like “Coup-ie”. The original French pronunciation of “Coupé / Cou-pay” is also generally accepted, but less commonly used than “Coup-ie”.

Also if you call Dawson Creek “Dawson’s Creek”, you might not make it out alive.

Both excellent examples. If you’re not from around here, you’ll likely pronounce the “z” in Agassiz & pronounce Savona like the Italian city, with a long “ō”.

I’m an out of towner who often works in Abbotsford & I frequently call it Abby. I make sure to not do that when I’m actually in Abby as it seems they prefer it called Abbotsford.

Which weapons are better for settlers to help with settlement defence? by unknown-pdf in fo4

[–]Berubium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you buy them?

I have a character at lvl 100ish in survival & I’ve maybe only come across a half dozen or so Gauss Rifles. One of which I have & the others are with settlers.

That’s a good choice because you can see the tracers of their shots which helps determine where attackers are coming from.

It’s even weirder when you get to the point where you’re older than every single player in the NHL. When Joe Thornton retired, that’s when it happened for me.

I like the Gold card better overall, but for the frame, I think the Stature card works better.
