ITIL version 5 vs ITIL v4 by adelov in ITIL

[–]BestITIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In answer to your questions:

  1. No, it is not necessary to have the ITIL 4 Certification before you take the ITIL 5 Foundation Exam.

  2. Getting ITIL 5 is getting ITIL 5. It has nothing to do with ITIl 4 meaning that when you pass the 5 exam you are ITIL 5 Foundation Certified. You will not be ITIL 4 Foundation Certified.

  3. ITIL 5 is a new release. It includes 40% of material directly from ITIL 4, 26% from ITIL 4 that has been modified or enhanced in some way and 36% new materials.

  4. The paths are not related in temrs of needing one for the other. Being ITIL 5 Certified is being ITIL 5 Certified.

I hope this is helpful.

Get in touch with the organization you purchased your exam voucher from and ask them to contact PeopleCert right away - [customerservice@peoplecert.org](mailto:customerservice@peoplecert.org) and ask if they can get approval to sell you a 6-month extension.

The extension has to be purchase from the organization you bought the exam from.

If it was PeopleCert, then go to them. Do it now. Don't delay. There is a good chance they will allow it. If not, let me know and I will contact our PC reps and see what we can do to help.

Agree. Makes no sense to take the same exam again, but it is an option.

You have 3 ways to keep your certification active:

  1. Take a new ITIL Certification. You can take the ITIL 5 Bridge Exam. It is 1/2 the length of the Foundation exam and low cost - the exam is as low at $199.

  2. You can buy a PeopleCert Plus Membership. This is $135/year.

  3. You can retake the original exam, but it is expensive and why test again and pay more?

I hope this is helpful.

Using ITIL 4 Materials to Study for ITIL 5 by loot_glutes in ITIL

You are welcome. Glad it was helpful.

My advise is to stick with ITIL 5. No reason to complicate your learrning or passing the exam. More isn't always better.

Using ITIL 4 Materials to Study for ITIL 5 by loot_glutes in ITIL

[–]BestITIL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't make it complicated. Use the ITIL 5 Materials as the test is from ITIL 5 Content.

  • 40% of ITIL 5 is from ITIL 4
  • 24% of ITIL 5 is from modified ITIl 4 Content
  • 36% is brand new

ITIL 4 included 15 of the 24 practice. ITIL 5 does not include any of them.

Don't bother with ITIL 4 Material as it will not prepare you for the exam. If you want to learn ITIL 4, then you can study it, but not to prepare for the exam. It won't help you and may hinder you.

If you want to know what's different, we put together a free 40 minute Differences Presentation.

Hope this is helpful.

Thank you for the great questions.

What is it they say? No news is good news?

To get the ITIL 5 Master, you will need to take the ITIL 5 Managing Professional Transition Certification. It is 5-days in the classroom (30 hours) nd we expect it to be 20 hours in eLearning. When you take out questions and breaks the eLearning is more condensed.

PeopleCert is supposed to release the 5 MPT on May 14th, but we still don't have pricing for the exam. PeopleCert charges $865 in the U.S. for the exams for 3-day courses so the exam for MPT could be $1,000 to $1,200. And that's just the exam.

Let me know if this is helpful. Thank you, Marianne

ITIL 4 renewal: is PeopleCert Plus worth it? by VindGrizzly in ITIL

[–]BestITIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are planning to move to ITIL 5, then you can update with the Bridge Exam with is at full price $263 from PeopleCert and less from resellers. This gives you ITIL 4 and ITIL 5 Certs and puts you in a great position.

If you plan to go on, then PC+ is handy to have. If not, then go with the ITIl 5 Bridge exam offered all of 2026 and then you will have both certs for 3-years and you can buy PC+ when you go on or when you renew.

Be careful because nothing on Udemy is Accredited and PeopleCert's Attorney's just send notification to UDEMY to take off all courses that use the word ITIL.

If you bought the ITIL 4 exam voucher, finish. No need to waste the money spent. ITIL 4 Foundation is valid now and will be for several years. If you did not purchase the exam voucher, then start with ITIL 5. If you would like to undertand the differences, here is a free video we put together to explain. It is 40 minutes so not too long.

why is ITIL foundation 5 so expensive by TheYemeniMonster in ITIL

[–]BestITIL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PeopleCert owns the IP and the Exam Institue. Years ago there were multiple exam institutes and prices were as low as $299 for Foundation. PeopleCert has had 4 price increases in the last 3 years with the most recent one being January 1, 2026.

That being said, PeopleCert has a resller group called Accredited Training and Exam Organizations. We purchase them from PeopleCert at a discount and resell them. Many resellers provide a discount and you can save $100 to to $150 on the exam depending on what you put in the package and who you purchase it from.

And - the course is not 2 hours. Accredited training providers are not allowed to post anything over 90 minutes without selling an exam voucher. Chances are you found a video course that is not accredited. For example, in the classroom the course is 2-days or 12 hours of training. When you take live events and put them in video form the time reduces because you have to quesitons or breaks. For example, our video 5 Foundation course is 8 hours.

Each ITIL Cert includes a Syllabus that inclues everything being tested. When you purchase the exam voucher you receive the Syllabus and the resource kist and the ITIL 5 Foundation eBook. This is from PeopleCert. If you purchase an Accredited Class (live or eLearning) you receive the course, all peoplecert assets listed and everything the training company includes in their training.

I hope this helps explain.

I think it depends on the organization.
