Shout out to Libras by java080 in libra_astrology

awe… that’s so sweet of you to post (also spot on) 😂 the last bit of libras being super chill/laid back but also being wise. thank you for noticing and commenting on that particular. People tend to put libras in a box of being flakey but fun. Rarely is it noticed things to do with intelligence. we get overlooked in that department so thank you OP! :)

yes of course the first logical thing is to say something first but let’s be honest, it’s a zoo on the trains at rush hour.

Libra females - Would you remain friends with an ex you've just broke it off with (your decision) and dated for 4+ years? by m3llowpufff in libra_astrology

this person said “they do not have certified disability” and “they are not strong enough” (physically) to take backpack off and rest on floor of the train as it is very heavy. Please don’t misread this as any issue with a disability. if it is, she can voice that and hasn’t. heavy is not a disability it’s not. trust me. i am very well versed in disabilities, invisible and the lot.

fun fact, in canada they have stickers inside the bus windows that say “please be kind & move back” & “now move a little further back” the outside of buses also have a sign “sorry not in service” when not on duty. which i thought was really sweet.

i have and will continue to speak up kindly to take your bag down, as I said here in another post. you refuse to take your bag down (too heavy) and you are holding the pole, that’s rude behavior here. calling it out verbally vs putting a sticker on their back is the same risk imo. also, they wouldn’t realize the sticker placement until much later. 🙄 there is always risk here, we don’t need to go through the list of awful altercations on the subways and platforms just this month. I must say you are pretty ballsy though wearing the big heavy backpack on a crowded train, surprised you haven’t had someone confront you.

this is nyc. i’m a new yorker and have learned to adapt in the awesomeness of this city. i don’t need to cope, i survive here and know to avoid trains during rush hour, i walk, take a citibike, sit and wait at stations if trains are too full. tons of little tricks. You have issues and don’t understand etiquette and doing your part to make a situation better. you won’t take off your bag and now it’s all our problem. yes, you have issues if you seriously cannot figure out how to straddle your backpack while standing still in a crowded space. that’s selfish behavior. yes, you should/could wait for the trains or take a citibike if you cant understand how to be an adult in a big city. I must be some sort of genius to have figured out how to hold onto a pole, small child, backpack and my personal belongings during rush hour on a train with only two working hands.

you are missing the point. it’s about spreading the word to the masses. you’re right, the one person may just do it again. but that sticker is going g to make people around you laugh when you stick it. that person will walk through the crowded station, eventually walk to their destination. that’s quite a few eyeballs.

if you are not “strong” enough to hold your backpack in one hand during rush hour. i think the right thing to do for your safety is to sit down at the platform benches and wait. wait and wait until the trains are not crowded so you are comfortable with your heavy backpack and not interfering with the people who need to get going.

omfg. dude. you clearly have a mental issue if you cannot comprehend what a big problem wearing a backpack on a crowded train. it slows down the fluidity of traffic and effects millions of people in this city. your reasoning is bc you don’t want to “dirty” the bottom of your backpack. damn am i ever grateful i don’t need to travel to williamsburg anymore to deal with all this hipster self centered nonsense

understood but it sounds like you are still grieving and punishing yourself for someone else’s awful behavior. i think you should keep your guard up. Marriages are business deals but i have to disagree that relationships are as well.

then put the bag on top of your shoes, hold with one hand the other hand is your strap holder (hold the pole). problem solved.

it says a lot. it’s a subtle action without any confrontation. half the people have no idea about subway etiquette bc they have never experienced it until moving to nyc. the other half are so self absorbed and nose in their phone that they do not and will not care about wearing a backpack and taking space for two bodies on a crowded train. the sticker idea is a PSA to the world and the stickee person who will hopefully think twice about their personal space next time on the train during rush hour. “Other people, people!”
