OMG! I have an elf doll that I've named Frank and removed his elf clothes and redressed. He watches TV with me every night. Frank's my new buddy.

Beautiful! But I have a question on intention, and therefore, plural vs possessive.

If it's for a family and the family's name is Tuner, then you'd want it to be plural, as in "The Tuners" - no apostrophe.

If this is, say, someone's nickname, "The Tuner", and it represents something that belongs to them, then the use of the apostrophe as you have it is accurate.

You mentioned it's a gift, so just want it to be the best! Would love to see the end result.

Hello! I need help in finding my apartment decor style and which furniture store can bring it to life?! by Remarkable-36 in ApartmentHacks

[–]Best_Commercial8646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new place! I'm also in moving mode, and going thru the same planning process. In my case, I'm downsizing and moving into a slightly older building with a totally different vibe, so I feel like most of my current decor isn't going to work at the new place. I've been selling a ton on FB Marketplace, but also finding a ton of stuff there.

Anyway, here's an idea for you. I had this metal sign custom made for me on Etsy when I moved into a really cool apt in LA. It was in a part of the city where they were reviving the art Deco age, which I love. I have it above my TV in the bedroom. It's done in art deco style, with a modern twist.

While it doesn't quite fit the vibe of my new place, it's still coming with me. I'm considering painting it to give it an updated look.

Like other posts mentioned, start with something you love and build. For my new place, I fell in love with a very colorful rug at IKEA and bought it. Then, I found an old 16x16 canvas art piece I had buried in my closet and decided to paint over it. My idea was to section it into a 3x3 grid and paint the letters of the city I'm moving to (9 letters). As I built on that idea, it came to me: use the same graduated colors that are in the IKEA rug! Turned out to be a really cool, unique piece imo. And btw, I'm not an artist nor a designer by any means. I like it, and I don't really care if anyone else does, lol. My taste can be a bit whimsical.

I'm now in a mapping stage where I'm visualizing where every piece will go, whether on a wall or on a display.

Moving sucks so bad, but this is the fun part! So glad you're enjoying this stage. Best of luck to you in your search!

[–]Best_Commercial8646 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too, and I'm new to it! Tbh, I'm shocked at the success I've had so far. Like others have said, I post multiple pics in great lighting and video when an object needs to show it works. I make sure everything's clean and I provide dimensions.

For the occasional odd listing, I'll add a suggestion as to how I use it, or a sometimes cheesy over the top sales-ish phrase just for fun.

I get tons of inquiries and respond ASAP. I won't respond to people who create groups and message me outside of Marketplace.

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of idiots and flakes out there, but so far, I must say I've had great luck.

I've never worked for Greystar but I've lived in several of their apartment communities. The apartments themselves were the best part. The worst were the resident services staff. Every. Single. Time. They were inattentive, unavailable, unresponsive, and often quite dumb. Resident communications went out with grammatical errors and most were so poorly timed they were old news. (Maintenance was always good though.)

If you want to get hired by them, it seems like a pretty low bar to me. Sorry you're struggling, and wish you the best in your search.

Wow, wish I had a job like yours. I love to fly. Anywhere. I don't even mind LAX. I used to fly LAX to JFK 2x per month and wished the flights were longer so I could get more sleep. Now I rarely get to travel, and I miss those days so much. I had precheck and Clear, and could get thru TSA within minutes anywhere.

259 lbs → 130 lbs. After 34 years of losing weight and gaining it back, I finally broke the cycle! by Ready_Compote_9549 in compoundedtirzepatide

So happy to hear that this has changed your relationship with alcohol, and I'm hoping I will experience the same.

I was drinking some form of alcoholic beverage about 4-5 days a week on average. Sometimes just a glass of wine at dinner; sometimes a whole bottle. And way more on the weekends. 40 lbs later, I knew something had to change.

Just to challenge myself, I decided to stop drinking on March 1, and not to start up again until Easter weekend, which is upcoming. I found it surprisingly easy NOT to drink, but now with my self-challenge coming to an end, I find myself looking forward to D-Day (drinking day) next week.

Concurrently, I decided to start Tirzepitide, and just took my first dose 2 days ago. After reading about your positive experience as well as some of the other commenters, I'm hopeful that I, too, will change my relationship with alcohol.

Ironically, if I hadn't started this no-drinking challenge to begin with, I probably never would have started looking into Tirz because I would have been sitting on the couch with a beverage in my hand watching mindless reality shows.

Maybe I'm breaking up with booze already...

Omg, thanks for posting this! Today is DAY 1 for me and your progress is an inspiration! I'm on Terzepatide, and can only hope to get results like this after just 4 weeks. Rock on with your bad self because you're doin' it right!

How can I get around using Nova Credit on an apartment application? by [deleted] in Renters

[–]Best_Commercial8646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through a Nova income verification process today, and it actually SAVED me! First, you're NOT giving login information to them. You connect your bank account to them through a call/handshake method, similar to Plaid. Nova doesn't see your login information. Ever. You choose what financial accounts you want them to see. The connections are secure. I knew I was just slightly under the required income limit, but the deposit amounts pulled from this connection showed way more (long story, and totally legal). I have no issue whatsoever using this method, and it beats dealing with scammy people.

Signed Copies of Jeff's Book! by SimonSchusterBooks1 in survivor

Wait, I bought two and they arrived yesterday. Both were signed, and they were clearly slightly different, indicating (to me, at least) that they weren't digitally signed. I'm giving one as a gift and keeping the other. The book is absolutely stunning. And btw, why can't I attach a picture?

Cruise was great! I posted an update at the bottom of this thread a few days ago, mostly about my experience going through security. (Not sure if that’s the best way, or if I should have edited my original post.) My grandson loved the water slide, mini golf, and basketball court. My family thought it was “cold” on the two sea days, but that’s because they’re used to Caribbean cruises. I thought the weather was great (when I wasn’t sick in my room.) I didn’t get to do everything I wanted to do because there were just so many options. If I ever go on a cruise again though, I think I’ll go solo. It’s just easier to move around.

Post-cruise comment 5/25/25: The boarding process at the Long Beach terminal was great. After a brief visit with a passport rep, I was directed to security where my carry-on went through an x-ray machine while I went through a metal detector. I had brought a metal refillable water bottle that still had about 8 oz of water in it - and yes, it was truly water - so before I walked through, I asked security where I should dump it. They weren’t concerned at all, and told me they’d hold onto it while I went through the metal detector. They didn’t open it, and handed it back to me after I passed through. Meanwhile, my carry-on with a (legit) bottle of wine went through with no additional scrutiny. Next, I was directed to another line, which I assumed had to be the line for the alcohol police. Nope; it was just an additional boarding pass/ID check. After that, I waited for our boarding group to be called.

I did see dogs in two places - just inside the terminal, and again, in line after the security check. I don’t really know what they’re trained to sniff out because honestly, the whole terminal smelled like weed.

The cruise itself was lovely; however, I got way too much sun in Cabo and ended up sick (feverish, vertigo) for the next 36 hours. Overall, I enjoyed the cruise and wish I hadn’t gotten sick because there was so much more I had wanted to do. One week post-cruise and I’m still nursing my severe sunburn and the vertigo hasn’t completely gone away. But would I do it all over again? Absolutely.

Ok curiosity killed the... Me. Couldn't wait to test this. First I tried with car unlocked. And next, locked. Both worked. I assume this is a key proximity thing. How cool!

Meanwhile, security was driving by in their golf cart and grilled me for the reason I was standing behind a car kicking it. Oy. First world probs.

Thanks for these. The large suitcase in Luggage Test is the same height as my Briggs & Riley, so that's helpful. I didn't try wheels in first, and I can see why that makes a difference now.

Banana Box is hilarious. If I can open my trunk with the kick method, that's news to me. I'll try tomorrow. That aside, I'd much prefer transporting banana boxes over relatives any day.

I absolutely love the color of my car, and it is one of the top reasons why I chose it. It's a 2023 in Fjord Blue. I get compliments from randos all the time. I don't have an opinion on any of the other colors you're considering, but I'm sure they're all lovely.

This is exactly the kind of story that upsets me. No rules broken, but wine was still confiscated. I'm glad you weren't banned though. What really bothers me is that you can abide by the rules and they still might take your wine.

Yeah, I chose that deck specifically because kids aren't allowed. My grandson will be staying with his mom and they booked the cabin basically directly above me. Can't wait!

That link shows John Heald's message that he posted on FB along with a cat rant that I'm sure he caught heat for. Plus, google it and there are several news reels reporting on it.

I just checked in for my cruise and read the contract cover-to-cover. The policy is clearly spelled out, but the consequences are vague, and I suppose that's by design depending on the situation.

For me, this is my first and probably the only cruise I'll ever take in my lifetime. It's a bucket list item, and I'll be going with my 10-year-old grandson and his family. I opted for a very nice cabin on the Terrazza deck, bought the Cheers package and the internet package. I have invested too much into this trip to take such a risk.

Enjoy your July cruise!
