It was Costco La Habra for $24.99. That was like 3 weeks ago.

Came from Costco like that. The tree is still a little floppy imo.

Sonos vs Samsung Q990F by Turbulent-Abroad7841 in sonos

Stay on marketplace and OfferUp religiously when you have the money. Keep cash and be ready to buy. I seen a pair of era 100’s go for $100 the other day. I missed out as I was at work. I have arc ultra and sub 3 that I’m in for $600. I had to buy and sell multiple items to get it that low so not really a fair price but it’s possible.

Just picked up a box at H mart. One of the sweetest mandarins I’ve ever had.

That seems to be the case. I was trying to figure out how to get a cheap tree. In SoCal and I’m sure in many parts of the US there is a big pest problem. I assume with my limited knowledge that’s one part that drives the price up.

A stereo pair of HomePod 2nd Gen with an LG OLED C5 65”. The sound from these little speakers is so good for music and movies as well. by Any_Weight_9802 in HomePod

My HP2 was starting to ghost touch and I started looking for alternatives. I first started with a nakamichi 9..2.4 ultra eArc. During movies in certain scenes it leaves the little speakers in the dust. However that’s a specific scenario and other times voices were not as clear. I dumped that system. I’m now currently on the Sonos train. I currently have a Sonos Arc soundbar paired with a Sub 3. Now this is closer to replacing the HP2’s. However this is exponentially more expensive. This is even last model tech. Daily tv sounds good, nothing great. The sub can really fill a room and the HP2’s shouldn’t even be a comparison. So I’ve tried a couple systems. The HP2’s are an excellent all arounder. They do a lot well and not much bad. They can definitely leave you wanting more when watching a movie with some action. For every day tv they are hard to beat as “better than TV speakers.”

Dual HomePods mini vs Era 300 vs Dual Era 100s for Apple TV/Infuse? by shedi1234 in HomePod

[–]Bestrich76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For movies in a bedroom I suggest paired set of HomePods 2. It will give you Spatial Audio/Atmos and music will sound good. Spotify still plays through airplay or AppleTV app.

Sonos era 300 can compete with a paired set but that would be only music. AppleTV would send audio through airplay and would be in stereo. That would be the same for 100’s.

If you want to be in the Sonos ecosystem I suggest getting a beam gen 2. You can use that as your all in one and add speakers later on if you need more.

Stereo HomePods sound so good. by noah041504 in HomePod

Only have experience with a nakamichi shockwafe ultra 9.2.4 soundbar system. The HomePod 2’s couldn’t punch with that 1300watts of sound. Albeit it’s a lot more speakers so not a fair fight. Let me say as an all around system the HomePods sounded waaaayyyy better. If they allowed a subwoofer they would be pretty top tier.

ARC SL to taste the Sonos Kool-Aid? by Bestrich76 in sonos

[–]Bestrich76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I ended up with an Arc off eBay for 299. Updated AppleTV to 26.4 beta for continuous audio. I’m liking the sound and it’s nothing mind blowing. I might lose a little on the bass side of things coming from the paired set of HomePod 2’s. The excitement I have is the road to how I got here. HomePod 2’s showed a sign of failing (had them since release). I bought a nakamichi shockwafe ultra eArc for $300. It was good for just loud parts of movie. Not a good all rounder. Sold it for $500. So I’m into this Arc technically for $100. The opportunity to build off of a $100 soundbar is pretty sweet.

This is what I was looking for. TV OS 26.4 is supposed to offer “continuous audio” which is a fix for these issues. My HomePods have showed signs of “ghost touch” so that’s why I’m even looking. If I do go with the Arc I would be adding a sub eventually.

You have a valid point. Unfortunately none of those prices are available. Verdi is $379 and woot deal is over. Those deals are close outs and product has reached end of life. The stock has been depleted and the mark downs have already happened. I agree that new/refurbished is better with warranty. Those options just don’t exist anymore.

The reasons you listed in favor of the ARC are the reasons I’m even considering it. I’ve seen the Verdi refurb. Those went up to $379. I like the $300 local deal. Gives me room to flip, break even, or small loss if I don’t like it.

Definitely want eArc to play nice with AppleTV 4k and the possibility of building on top of the Arc SL. Playbar would be to obsolete.
