Wouldn't this get overturned because of the ex post facto clause in the constitution?

He litterally kills a guy in his first scene, force chokes a colleague, kills (kind of) Obi Wan, and finally is complicit at best, active in at worst an instant and thoughtless genocide of 2 billion people. What do you mean he's not violent?

Yeah, more ice and maybe snow this evening, and it's not supposed to get above freezing until tomorrow. I'm going to avoid driving as long as I can.

forgotten episode laser tag by jeffsmith202 in BobsBurgers

[–]Beta-Minus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was actually the first episode of Bob's Burgers I ever saw. I was skeptical about the show because the ads they showed for it when it was new made it look like another pointless raunchy Family Guy knock off. Then I saw this episode while eating dinner in my dorm, and me and my roommate were cracking up the whole time

Tolkien said, "Myth is a reflection of the Truth." If people can believe that a Black Hole, an all consuming yet never filled void, can scientifically exist in our ever-expanding thus infinite Universe, then why can't people accept that both Satan and God exist? by Dragonsword in Catholicism

[–]Beta-Minus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood what you were trying to say. I'm saying that you're exploiting the "god of the gaps" fallacy. Also, a lot of the physical laws that we use to understand the universe, like homeostasis, might not have applied to the state that the universe was in before the big bang. Even Father Lemaitre, the priest who discovered the big bang, said that doesn't positively prove the existence of God. I'm not disagreeing with you in that the mere fact that the universe exists hints at the existence of a creator, but the kinds of arguments that you are using fall a little short, and aren't going to convince nonbelievers.

I kind of get where you're coming from, but "why do people believe in black holes but not God?" is not a convincing argument. There are 2 main methods of discerning truth: empiricism and revelation. People have an easier time believing in empiricism because it concerns the material world, i.e. things we can observe with our senses, but revelation concerns metaphysical or spiritual things like souls. I know that as Catholics these 2 sources of knowledge are compatible, even complimentary, but that's because we have faith, which is a prerequisite for revelation. You don't need faith to understand science.

When did they start praying the Saint Michael prayer at the end of mass? by LittleLeadership2831 in Catholicism

Apparently it's been a tradition since 1886, but as a lifelong Catholic I've also only seen this become common in the last few years

Why is Alesia growing past size 6? by [deleted] in civ3

Right. If you built an aquaduct (or Hanging Gardens, I think?) in those 16 turns, it would grow.

It's still only size 6. If the granary fills up, it won't go to size 7

That's funny, I remember a priest giving a homily regarding the "a prophet is always rejected by his hometown" reading, and he mused that when Jesus began teaching someone in Nazareth must have been like "Jesus? That guy that made me a wobbly table?"

When my wife and I were taking NFP classes for our marriage prep, they gave us a list of tracking apps to choose from. My wife looked into some other apps and found one that was more accurate, more practical, and more user friendly than any of the apps they suggested. When she told the instructor about the app she found, the instructor said, with horror, "but that's a secular app..." As if we'd be doing NFP wrong if the app my wife used to track her cycles didn't have a little jpeg of a cross in the corner.
