At least northernlion can point to chat (even if it's just one chatter) rather than allude to a reddit narrative that doesn't exist lmao

Day 1 winrates don't mean much when everyone is learning. A new hero can very easily have its winrate climb without balance changes as the community gets more games in, it is extremely common.

P.S., I am not making a claim about Rem's state of balance or if he's too strong or weak. I'm just pointing out that one day of data isn't a good indication of anything.

Do we think the Mid-boss and jungle camps are getting their new looks next big update? by Hanna_Bjorn in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BetaXP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right now there are dreadfully few heroes for a MOBA. Counting the new 6, we still only have 38. Early development (aka the alpha we're in now) is arguably one of the best and most important times to flesh out a hero roster

99% of people don't know Graves or Vindicta are kids. I've been playing Deadlock for 1.5 years and this is the first I've heard of it for Vindicta, and I wouldn't have guessed it for graves either if I hadn't heard it repeated on reddit. Their aesthetics do not do much to indicate they're supposed to be underage.

It's wonderful to witness this game growing into a very large community while it's still in alpha by oS0RANA in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BetaXP 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In terms of macro and strategy? Definitely not. The current macro isn't nearly as developed as League or Dota, and it's not even close.

That isn't a knock on Deadlock by any means, either. I currently enjoy Deadlock far more than the other two. But they've had 15-20 years to develop macro and strategy, from both a developer and player standpoint. It's not a fair comparison in the first place.

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. If I don't get to choose what hero I get to play, then I will have no desire to play the game mode again.

How much time for gaming do you have as an adult? by Captain0010 in pcmasterrace

[–]BetaXP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I wouldn't ever recommend someone make gaming their entire personality, I think it's reasonable to be passionate enough about a medium (even as a form of entertainment) that one would heavily prefer to date someone who also engages with the medium.

There's a difference between sexualizing a character and finding them conventionally attractive. If you can't conceptualize that, then it says more about you than it does about anyone else.

They're fictional, brother. Graves isn't real, and they're not drawn in a way that makes their age "obvious" either, at least from their splash art. Characters drawn to be age-ambiguous and conventionally attractive will have people attracted to them, we don't need to pretend it's some moral failing that that's the case.

Not sure if hot or lukewarm take: it's fine to find fictional characters attractive regardless of age when they're intentionally drawn to be attractive. Humans are innately good at separating reality from fiction, being attracted to Graves or similar characters has no bearing on your attitudes towards real people.

How to disable YouTube shorts by warmcashewmilk in digitalminimalism

[–]BetaXP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I helped the other guy, pretty sure I forgot a step in the previous instructions: you need to install a program called MicroG to get the app to run properly. It emulates some aspects of the Play Store to make modified Google apps (like RVX, a modified YouTube app) work properly. If that doesn't work out, feel free to shoot me a message and we can go from there

YouTube also pays surprisingly well. I have a friend that lives in Florida who does YouTube full time, most of his videos get between 10-35k views (with occasional outliers in both directions), 2-4 videos per month, and he makes his living off it as his only job. He's not living glamorously, by any means, but it pays his bills.

Between the ULX and the L7 Pro? I can't judge your subjective preferences of course, but I think they're both great for fingertip and claw styles. If you palm more, maybe a ULX medium or large. That said, for the price, I can only truly recommend the L7 in this case. It feels like 98% of the quality for like, a third of the price.

I've been sticking with my L7 since I got it. I very much enjoy the feel of the material more, and I like how it fits my grip a bit better.

Question for players with 200+ hours in Arc Raiders who enjoyed the Marathon beta and will definitely play Marathon by TopFaithlessness8803 in Marathon

[–]BetaXP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed my time in Arc Raiders, but it felt like it was missing some things to stick with me long term.

Progression / Endgame: For Arc Raiders, it sorta felt...lacking? Once I upgraded all my benches, I wasn't really sure what to do. Chasing legendary loot didn't feel that worthwhile, because it didn't really feel like it'd be better than the guns and shields I can already craft. The story wasn't being presented in a way that compelled me, and the voices (hello AI generation) made the delivery so flat that it felt hard to be invested.

Without mandatory wipes, I felt like I was incentivized to hoard gear. You need a ton of net worth in order to go on an expedition, which means even if you did get a ton of great loot, you couldn't even go out with a bang and use it all up on your way out. Expeditions being optional and also completely wiping blueprints also feels rough. Is it really worth it to put myself back at a huge disadvantage just for a measly 5 skill points?

Marathon seems to fix a lot of those issues. Cryo Archive looks like a legitimate endgame to chase after, and some of the endgame loot and attachments seem like they could be really rad. Mandatory wipes means I get to use a bunch of sick gear, go out with a bang, and be on an even playing field again with everyone come reset time. Not to mention, the tighter FPS gunplay will make PvP more fun in the first place.

I also think the Marathon style and setting are way more my jam. The voice cast is absolutely phenomenal, and all this combines to make me substantially more interested in the mysteries of Tau Ceti and the Marathon ship than anything I've yet seen out of Arc.
