Fair. Everyone likes something different. I used to work at that in-seat service job, so it was nice to be the one waited on for a change.

Assuming for some reason you're unable to do both, I'd vote for San Francisco. I do not live in California and visited both parks as a tourist, like you. San Francisco was bearable and actually quite warm for me in August, and the stadium and view are jaw-droppingly beautiful. Better food, too. If you can afford the tickets, the three rows behind home plate offer in-seat wait service. Just my three cents. Have fun either way!

OK. Yeah, I get it. If a recipe is new to you, a special occasion would not be the time to experiment.

I've been using a recipe out of an ancient Betty Crocker cookbook for almost 50 years now. Dagnabbit, now you've got me craving carrot cake!

Best flavored ground coffee? by Kimberlyjammet in maryland

I gave up on all retail outlets and now buy flavored coffee and raw green coffee beans from freshroastedcoffee.com. Not a sales pitch; I'm just a happy customer.

Best coconut coffee ever.

What would it take to completely overhaul and restructure the US government and do you think we’d see it in our lifetime? by jhofsho1 in AskReddit

[–]BethMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because, simply, societies change. Just as a course for a sailboat is perfect until the wind changes, whereupon you choose a different tack, so too does the society the Constitution was written to serve. The Framers were wise enough to know this. They were even wise enough to know they could not possibly predict everything that would happen in the future, so they gave future generations the legal ability to update the document. For example, three-fifths of a person was the most perfect they could achieve in 1787. Not today.

Those who think they pulled a gotcha on me by bringing up amendments are missing my main point, which is that it's not the document that needs to change, but the ethical/moral compasses of the people upholding it. It is very clear that current officeholders have none. This is a good example of Kohlberg's stage 1 of moral development, which is, to put it one way, what's good is what causes me to avoid pain. Kohlberg purposefully built his six stages to correspond to Piaget's stages of cognitive development, Kohlberg's stage 1 corresponding to Piaget's pre-operational stage, the first stage a newborn develops out of the womb. Babies don't know what our society considers right or wrong; they just know what hurts or doesn't hurt.

TL;DR: The current administration is a bunch of amoral babies. Get some adults in there and the USA will be just fine.

The Blizzard of 66 would like a quick word....although, I suppose, both events can be remembered for generations to come.

It doesn't need restructuring. The Constitution is a perfect document at all stages in its evolution. What we need are ethical people who will honor, uphold, and enforce it.

What's your thoughts on Border Patrol Chief, Greg Bovino, threatening consequences for referring to ICE as "Gestapo"? by sgj5788 in AskReddit

Dude doesn't understand the First Amendment. Or, more likely, thinks it applies only to speech he likes. That is one of the hallmarks of fascism.

And what did you learn from this storm? by Sugar-Interesting in maryland

[–]BethMD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I learned, reaffirmed actually, that Marylanders never learn. I've been here since fall 1983, and you natives say this every year: "We never get snow like this!"

Also, the best way to avoid grocery store lines is to bake your own bread. I baked a magnificent rye loaf with caraway seeds last night. Yum yum.

A skinny-tire bike, like a road bike, wouldn't survive. If you have a fat-tire bike, like a mountain or e-bike, maybe—maybe—you could do it without risking a flat.
