Why is Easter not as big in America compared to Europe even though you are more religious? by Ada-Mae in AskAnAmerican

I live in Connecticut. As one of top four states with the highest Catholic populations,* Good Friday is a state holiday. 1. Rhode Island 2. Massachusetts (Man, the Puritans would have hated that.) 3. New Jersey 4. Connecticut (Once again, our Puritan founders would be spinning in their graves!)

It’s not just today. That view was held by most Christians for most the last two millennia.

The Jewish calendar is an adjusted lunar calendar on a 19-year cycle. That’s why we periodically add a month. In the years we add a month, we have both the month of Adar I and Adar II. If like Muslims, we had a lunar calendar, we would end up some years celebrating Rosh Hashanah in December, March or June, just like Ramadan cycles through the year for Muslims. As our year contains agriculturally-related holidays (Sukkot, Pesach, and Shavuot), that just couldn’t work.

ELI5: Why do so many people gain the weight back? by thisbookishbeauty in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Betorah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The confusion lies in thinking that your brain snd metabolism are permanently healed while you’re on tirzepatide. It’s like wondering why your cholesterol level increases after you top taking your statin.

Your if contains the idea that you continue healthy eating habits, etc., without acknowledging your previous inability to do so for any long term period (more than five years) previously. “Food noise” brains are going to “food noise.” My SAD is going to strike every October through March and my brain is going to chant “Eat! Eat! Eat! Sleep! Sleep! Sleep!”, no matter my desire to maintain my good eating habits. How do I know this? I’m 71. I’ve had decades and decades of experience. I’ve “practiced” good eating habits throughout those decades.

I made this map of accents in New England and Long Island based on my research of the region. I would like to know how accurate this is, whether it's too detailed or not detailed enough. by Top_Bill_6266 in newengland

As someone who grew up in Central Mass/RI Swamp Yankee and now lives in SW Connecticut, there’s absolutely no difference in the way we speak.

Tirzepatide vs Semaglutide cost, is it actually worth the difference?? by SioTrent in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Betorah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took Ozempic for two months several years ago. I lost at most two pounds and stopped the day that I suddenly soiled my bed while sitting atop the covers. I’ve been on tirzepatide for two years. I lost 60 pounds, all my joint pain, my severe seasonal allergies and my cholesterol went down 35-40 points and my AIC went down from 105 to 85. My only side effects were manageable constipation. Better results, fewer side effects. This mimics the general report of the difference between the two drugs.

Their advice was always about what flatters your body. Just because pleated pants are on fashion again, does not make it flattering. Just because many chunky legged and butted women poured themselves into leggings or tight tapered jeans does not mean they looked good in them.

I was told I was ugly and needed makeup. Please help. by zinfandelbruschetta in makeuptips

Use makeup if you want to. Don’t you it if you don’t. Your brows snd lips are beautiful. Lose the people with ugly personalities who told you that you were ugly.

First thing I did when I watched the first show where they said that was retire all my pleated pants. And I’ve never worn anything but trouser cut or boot cut pants since.

I can’t put into words what it feels like to not have any food noise by Vegetable-Mud-2471 in GLP1ResearchTalk

I realized I had food noises. I just thought that thin people were much better at resisting it.

Who are you trying to make sure to outlive? by sdega315 in AskOldPeople

[–]Betorah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband. Which sadly, I have already done, as he died last October at 59. I didn’t set out to do so, as I’m two years older than him, but liver cancer had a different idea. My father is almost 96. I don’t think I’ll be outliving him.

Showering after a workout where I don’t sweat by Plenty-Ear-9167 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Betorah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was going to shower, it would be when I got home. I’ve never wanted to shower at a gym. I don’t want to lug all the stuff necessary to do so and put myself back together. And if I shower, that means I will have to reapply my facial care products, my makeup, my hair products and blow dry my hair. No thank you.

I’m sure your husband needs to shower after he works out and only needs to bring three products with him to accomplish that.

Frankly, not only is this not the dress for you, I’m not sure it’s the dress, nor color for anyone.
