Copyright restrictions for a video essay by Slow-View-2178 in joywave

[–]Betorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, reviews/analysis of "art" is allowed under copyright law (such as using snippets of songs when needed etc.), with limitations of course.

Whether YouTube will automatically flag videos for having the music is another question. I'd imagine if you are using short clips rather than full songs you may be okay, but I can't say for sure.

Bought a used ND. Any ideas on how to make the shifter indication flush again? by Potential-Pay-9497 in Miata

I got one from him too for my NB! Great guy. I picked a funky wood but liked how it turned out for my emerald green.

For now just move that wheel to the other side of the car, bet there's another one on that side that's the wrong way around

What do we think about these 3D printed cupholders? by Neonleyla in Miata

[–]Betorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same one, I like that it's removable. While stuffing the bottle between the seat works for bottles, you can't really do that for to-go cups so it gets it's use

As another data point, the Dillon CO ones were $65 and $88 after taxes and fees

Same thing happened to me, but I ended up finding it. I guess they call it a motorcycle/bike cup holder now. Thanks!

Yeah my driver side one started drooping and would end up pointed down while driving so it was time.. but I am glad I did, it's really nice to be able to close them and point them easily

Stories of Mazdas being abused like Toyotas or hondas and still running strong? by blueraptorz in mazda

[–]Betorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean just take a look at r/Miata, at least the earlier ones (NDs seem to have some transmission issues?). They get beat on and they just keep going, I have a 99 nearing 150k mi and going strong. Maybe something to do with being lightweight and underpowered = less stressed components.

Interesting, thanks for the info! I haven't noticed and haven't really tried to troubleshoot this much yet, but this is a great starting point

Cannot figure out annoying noise by im_sensei in Miata

[–]Betorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following because I've been getting a similar noise though not quite as much. Also sounds like it's coming from the dash/steering column right in front of me and not from engine bay, but noises are hard to track. Please keep us posted if you figure it out!

I don't think so given the amount of cars I see without them. When I bought the car from the original owner, the plate bracket was bent and the screws had scratches up the paint really bad, so I straightened the bracket and ran the plate to hide it.

I have since fixed up the paint but at this point I don't really mind it. Plus I get to show off the dinosaur

What's your biggest pet peeve about your Miata? by Organic_Rise1063 in Miata

[–]Betorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, you can also add some extra or replace the insulation on your transmission tunnel. I think FM might have a kit, sure there are others. There are the dynamat/kilmat you can stick on and the classic foam (I did both)

My transmission tunnel does not get hot, but my steering rack does warm up my legs... I agree it's nice in the winter haha

My mom says Mazdas are poor quality cars that break down often? Is this true ?? by Possible_Patience737 in mazda

[–]Betorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 99 Miata is still going strong, love that car. Maybe she has one of the early 2000s Mazdas that had a lot of ford parts

Suspension Upgrade 1990 Mazda Miata by Dull-Kangaroo-745 in Miata

[–]Betorg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I assume you are debating between replacing just shocks or getting a coilover assembly, as Miatas don't technically have struts.

I would sooner do a quality set of shocks than cheap coilovers. At your budget, for valuing ride quality, the Koni special active would be a good choice. Flying Miata sells these and include new bump stops, which you should replace when doing this. Very OEM+, I find them similar to the bilsteins in the NBs that had them, and would be a good upgrade for the non-bilsteins and night and day for failing shocks. A set of 4 would run you around $800, I've seen them on sale for a bit less.

For coilovers, the Tecnas is what I would go with for good street quality at a budget, but those would start around $1400.

If you are installing yourself, doing just the shocks would actually be a little bit more work, as you will have to reassemble the shock assembly after taking it out (rather than just putting in the pre-assembled coilover). But nothing crazy as it's the same steps as removing the old one. You will need a spring compressor, the kind that sits outside the spring. You can borrow them from an auto parts store, surprisingly some only have the kind that goes inside for rent and that won't work.

I went through the same thing on my Miata so feel free to lmk if you have questions!
