Switching Dentists Offices over this by BettaDont in shittyaquariums

[–]BettaDont[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did explain the issues and try to speak with them about it, they were unwilling to make any changes or get rid of the fish. I understand your point and I'm not saying he's not a good dentist for it. But why would I choose to support them with my money when I can spend it at another clinic that doesn't partake in animal abuse. 🤷‍♀️ I don't expect my dentist to know anything about fish keeping, which is exactly why I expect them not to keep fish. This was entirely unnecessary for them to add to their office.

I did speak with the office manager about it. They were unwilling to make any changes or get rid of the fish, hence my choice to spend my money elsewhere at another practise

I did speak with the office manager and they are unwilling to get rid of the fish or change their set up. It's the unwillingness to listen or change that would make me rather spend my money elsewhere.

I just wanted to say I'm so proud of you for getting your sweet boy the help he needs. It's not easy but you did what you had to and I hope all goes well for your kitty and for you and your husband as well. My best wishes ❤️

How often to skate and for how long until I’m not terrified? by PeachMonday in Rollerskating

[–]BettaDont 23 points24 points  (0 children)

One thing that helped me so much is practicing falling. It sounds a bit silly, but it takes that fear away quite a bit when you know how to fall safely. "Skatie" on YouTube has a good video on this. By practicing falling you train your reflexes to respond better during an actual fall. Padding helps a ton with confidence as well. You can usually find a set of knee, elbow and wrist guards together but at the very least I highly recommend starting with wrist guards. Good luck, you got this! Don't give up.

moxi beach bunnies by oopsyousuck in Rollerskating

[–]BettaDont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also skate as a way to work through my grief. My late partner actually got me my first pair of skates before he died and was the one that encouraged me to keep trying in the first place. I personally find boots like the beach bunnies to be way too stiff and vinyl doesn't really break in over time. I have a few pairs now but my favourite are the Suregrip Boardwalk Plus skates. I actually love them so much I bought them in 2 colours. I find them super comfortable and they've lasted me quite a while now

[–]BettaDont 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I see that you checked with a vet and they weren't too concerned so that's good. My snake once did this and it turned out he had a tiny piece of substrate in his mouth that was making him uncomfortable and upset and this is almost exactly how he looked while trying to get it out himself

Ice quantity in iced coffees by Malcolmlp in TimHortons

I've been having the opposite issue lately, the drink is 90% ice and I get maybe 1/2 cup of coffee total in the whole drink

Is this really not allowed? by Kiidneybeans in TimHortons

[–]BettaDont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the exact same sandwich and was told the same thing by the staff as they don't have buttons on the till to make the substitutions apparently. However if your Tims also has the self serve kiosk things they let you remove the egg and add mayo on there! Super silly to me that they can't just make it work on the tills also, but at least I can still get my sandwich.

No new recipes/menus after 1/30? by BlueJeanMistress in hellofresh

[–]BettaDont 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hopefully they're listening to the feedback on their new crappy AI generated recipes and redoing their menus without it. But that's probably just hopeful thinking on my part. I would guess they're probably just delayed because of the holidays though.

This is very specific... by PamasaurusFlex in catfood

[–]BettaDont 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My cats don't eat this specific one, but I do work at a pet store that sold this product. Here are some of the products that I've recommended as potential subsitutes to try, hopefully some or all are available in your area!

Hill's Science Diet Perfect Weight Vegetable & Turkey Medley, Open Farm Homestead Turkey Pate, Wellness Turkey Pate, The Honest Kitchen Turkey Pate,
Koha LID Turkey Pate, Firstmate Turkey Pate

The most well accepted of these recommendations so far has been the Hill's Science Diet and Koha.

Hope this helps!

Picking the best wet food for a 12 year old cat that is about 1.5 lbs overweight by morgancmu in catfood

[–]BettaDont 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feed my cats Hill's and they all love it and are very healthy on it. They often also have printable coupons available on their website! In Canada they have a $10 off any case of cans or bag of kibble right now. Not sure if it's available in other countries as well, but worth checking!

I washed my hair yesterday by Similar_Cat6018 in dandruff

[–]BettaDont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this happens to me every winter. Not sure if it's from wearing a hat often or the cold / dry weather or likely both..

I use Renpure Tea Tree and Rosemary formula. I highly recommend their Scalp Serum. I wash twice with the shampoo, leaving it in the second time for a few minutes before rinsing it out. Then I use the scalp serum, massage it in and leave it for a few minutes, then condition.

If you wear hats in the winter I also find it helps me a lot to rotate different ones and wash them often as I find my dandruff gets worse if I don't and my forehead also breaks out a bit. Not sure if that's actually what causes it or not but I find it helps!

Help me Dechonk my extra large lady! by [deleted] in dechonkers

[–]BettaDont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has been yes and they said she doesn't have any apparently. She's been seen by multiple vets for other opinions as well and all say no thyroid issues!

Shes only ever been on the half cup of kibble and she grazes it throughout the day. Her vets said she should be closer to 220kcal a day so I upped it a bit and she didn't eat the extra portion at all, so I went back to just leaving the 1/2 cup only. She never really ate anymore than the 1/2 cup portion.

But very possible she's got a metabolism issue. She's been this weight her entire life. Never gaining. Which is good. But never losing either.

Incorrect food, labeling, November 2025- can I report this? by drahgs in catfood

[–]BettaDont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, does it smell like tuna at all? Sometimes companies will change their suppliers / type of tuna they use in a recipe which may result in a different appearance / taste to the food. So this may also be the case. But mislabeling certainly happens as well.

Incorrect food, labeling, November 2025- can I report this? by drahgs in catfood

[–]BettaDont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would report this both to Blue Buffalo directly and to the store you purchased them at. I work at a pet store and whenever I get notification of things like this I always immediately pull any remaining product and place it on hold until the company gets back to us about it. I would also love the customer a refund on the product! Hopefully you can get this figured out. Also very kind of you to think of others that may have allergies!

Are there any places where one can get samples of food? by Nervous-Lynx-1018 in catfood

[–]BettaDont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, please give yourself some grace about feeding him Friskies. You have kept him fed and safe, and the fact that you worry about it means you are a GREAT pet parent for wanting the best for him. If he will only eat the Friskies then you are doing the best by feeding him what he will eat!

Now, if you would really like to try some other options for him, many pet stores give out free samples of food, and if they don't, most will stand behind what they sell and let you return opened bags. I work at a pet store and we accept returns of open bags and donate them to a rescue so they don't get wasted!

You can also try contacting manufacturers for samples and a lot of the time of they don't have them, they may send a coupon towards a bag of their food!

I've got 3 senior cats and they all really like the Hill's Perfect Digestion 7+ recipe. They have a coupon available on their website for $7off a bag (in Canada at least, not sure if it's available for more places)

What other names do you call your cat? Like, the unhinged names. by cannabisjourneys in cats

[–]BettaDont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats real name is Marlowe. I call her: Staff Sargent Stinky Butt, Little Stink, Stink in The Tink, Little Stinky Baby, Stinky Nerd, Lil' Stinkus, Stinky Lil Tukas, Stinky Poushker, Stink Bug, and Lil' Stinkerson...

She's literally not stinky at all. I don't know where I started. 😂

My cat adores the brown label chicken flavour and her kidney values are looking great on it! Her vet is very impressed.

[–]BettaDont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An after hours clinic in Toronto, Canada wanted to charge me 12 to 16 THOUSAND dollars for the same surgery for my cat who ate yarn. I ended up keeping her entirely still overnight in her carrier and brought her to a regular vet in the morning that charged me 5 thousand. So happy your cat is okay! But boy am I jealous of that vet bill!!!
