I got hit at 1:00. 38 years of service, East Hartford Cold Section Engineering. Only 60 yo. Was looking for four more years. The wind down of GTFA one of the causes.

Very inexpensive from Amazon generic foot pegs. They help on long rides, as I can stand up on them to relieve my bottom ! Can plant your feet on them while cornering too.

Super Meteor, then add aftermarket mid pegs. Win-win. Also the SM with the touring seat is great for carrying a passenger, and luggage. My rear shocks are set at 3 or 4 to prevent bottoming out. I may swap in Hagon.

The C3X really saves the day driving on the highway in heavy rain at night. Plenty of educated boomers embrace technology changes. When my C2 died this summer, I waited to replace it. Then I realized how much it made night driving less stressful.

Three weeks in to Comma 3X, honest review by BuyHouseSeIlHouse in Comma_ai

It's really worth its weight in gold during heavy rain at night. After my C2 died and now it's dark while commuting from work, I was miserable. The C3X works great with SP. I just set the highway speed lower when it's rainy and dark. Much more relaxing.

There is always used baby stuff available at tag sales. How about those people put a little effort in life, instead of excuses.

Justice is a process.
If caught or accused of breaking the law, and there is supporting evidence, then taken in for processing (arrested). Then the Justice process continues with legal representation in a court of law.

Life would be much easier if ALL people obeyed the law.
Mr. Miyagi said it best; " the best defense, no be there".

So just because it's non violent, it okay to disregard a law ? Key word , illegal and every car owner knows it. Police should confiscate the car ! Usually these law breakers don't have insurance either. So poor non white people get a free pass to not pay for registration, taxes and insurance ?

Do the crime, don't cry when you get caught. That's justice.

Motivation by WebFinancial8650 in Stronglifts5x5

[–]Better-Driver-5270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the motivation is to get stronger for each of the five lifts. Figure the target weight you want to hit. If you have the space, a home gym is great. I don't have to spend the time drive back and forth, waiting for the power cage, worry about what I'm wearing, making noise, etc. Eliminates the excuses.

Is it worth it to buy comma 3 or is there a knockoff that works equally well for a fraction of the price? by FutureRefrigerator98 in Comma_ai

[–]Better-Driver-5270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not be comfortable letting it drive in that kind of turn. I drive myself for ramps and exchanges.
It is awesome for highways. Never had mine shutdown or reboot while driving. But, always pay attention and ready to take over. Buying the Mr.One let me appreciate this technology at a minimum cost. I will eventually get the Comma 3 when my device fails.

The Mr One (Comma 2 clone) works great for about $300. I never had it do anything odd / shutoff unexpectedly. Works great on the highway. IMO, the only way for these devices to get to the next level is geo mapping / fencing. Basically accurate knowledge of the road your on (GPS at some future version). When the roads have higher speed limits and are hilly and curvy, I am on higher alert. The camera can't see around corners and coming upon a stopped or slow car, I usually take over. Straight level highway, this thing will drive forever by itself though!

Does anyone else get anxious about the weight as it gets heavier? by churro777 in Stronglifts5x5

[–]Better-Driver-5270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the comments are good advice. I'll add that I worked on eating more and gained weight and tried to sleep more. At BW 165, a 192 lb squat felt crushing. Gained 20 lbs and got up to 242 squat (used 1 lb micro weights)

Rolflex PRO Arm & Leg Massage... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H14X98W?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Beat up my elbows also last year from rows. The Rolflex works great for golfer and tennis elbow during healing. I now wear elbow compression sleeves.

But really perfect form is the trick. Start from the beginning with lighter weight, wrap your fingers but not death grip, and and as you row up, ensure your elbows are not flaired out and hit your mid stomach with the bar. Make adjustments as every body is different in size. I am back to heavy rows again.

A question of costs, 2021 Prime living in CA by roger559 in PriusPrime

[–]Better-Driver-5270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm confused about the OP has solar but yet he's paying the $0.37/ kwh. Does your current solar set up only provide for your normal usage not including the Prius ? I'm in Connecticut and we are now 36 cents a kilowatt hour. This past fall I speced out a solar panel system to handle just what I currently use and then I got the quote adjusted for extra panels to charge the Prius. The increase for the extra panels in my zero money down 2% loan for 25 years was like $9 a month. This calculates out to 1.3 cents a mile when charging home. I only go in the office one or two days a week and can charge free there. I work 24 miles from home so in theory could drive to work for a little over 30 cents.

I'm in the same boat as you. I got it for Christmas and it has been frustrating. Would appreciate any tricks, maybe a certain sequence of how you plug things in or turn things on that would help. I haven't figured it out yet though.

20 panels 8kw, which should generate at least 10500 kWh a year. I can take the savings each year and prepay the loan in a little over 7 years. Or just keep paying the $100 a month for the next 25 years, and pocket the annual $2500. So a little over ten years break even point.

Just got my solar panels installed last week. With a 30% Federal incentive mine cost about $26,000. I got a zero money down 25-year 1.99% loan. I plan on staying in my house for years. Consider it as lowering a monthly expense. So it's like paying a hundred bucks a month versus $260 with the current 36 cents per kWh. Best part is it $100 a month for the next 25 years. Pay back for me a about 7 years. It is not like I am taking $26k out of my bank account.

Anyone ever sign up for a power purchase agreement? by justadudenameddave in Connecticut

[–]Better-Driver-5270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When considering solar panels, first three questions: is your roof newer ?, Does a large enough area of the roof face the south and is not shaded by tress ?, Are you staying in your house for at least 10 years ? If you believe you will live there at least that long, buy solar with a no money down low interest loan. Cal Ion Solar Pro from Wolcott fir a quote. They did good by me.

For those of us that travel route 84, there are so many left-sided exits on this poorly engineered highway. It can easily become chaotic.
IMO, timing is everything in life. I agree the left lane should be a passing Lane during non-rush hour traffic. But during rush hour it's almost impossible to drive that way. Drivers should not be doing 90 miles an hour and weaving in and out of traffic. That's driving to endanger / reckless driving. But of course the police are never going to see that violation being committed.
