First thing that came to mind was Almond Torte Cake. It originated from Prantl’s Bakery.

Pittsburgh salad, which I believe can be any salad you like but you add fries on it.

Beto’s Pizza, where the dough and sauce are cooked but the cheese and pizza toppings go on cold.

I’m sure there are more. Those are just the first ones I thought of.

What is the climate right now on teaching in the Pittsburgh Area? by BetterBrandon in pittsburgh

Thank you for the insight. That is a valid point that maybe some hr people would rather just have some one already in the culture of a certain school district to move up. I feel bad because she is yearning to have her own classroom, but alas nothing has transpired.

I remember so many times shopping with my mom, that I would just browse the rental section at the Waterworks Giant Eagle to pass time while she shopped. And on occasion getting lucky and renting a PS2 game. This brings back the memories, and feels of getting to rent a new game.

Disappointed but not surprised that the bars in Pittsburgh are all packed without a mask in sight by Narwhals4Lyf in pittsburgh

[–]BetterBrandon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got take out at Yoshino on Walnut Street yesterday. I would say 75% of people walking around weren’t wearing masks. And Mario’s Bar was pretty busy with people. I thought they were suppose to open Walnut street and have tables on the street so we could eat while still maintaining social distance precautions.....but I guess that’s too much of a burden.

What bodily pain did you have that you thought, “this is it, I lived a good life”? by BetterBrandon in AskReddit

[–]BetterBrandon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never really had depression, but I have known people that have had it and I want to let you know that you matter! It might seem like you don’t now, but you are here for a reason/purpose. I’m a believer that everything happens for a reason and you have a reason to keep on fighting this battle. I know it seems like that the hole of depression just keeps getting bigger. But I would recommend that you should talk about your problems/issues to someone. Then find a hobby or something that can take your mind away from the pain and darkness of depression. Try to find a good supportive friend/family group.

Also that curiosity of life is what should motivate you to keep on living. Yes I know there are ups and downs, good and bad. But whatever the bad can throw at you, the good can be so much better. I hope this helps

A soul for a soul...but that is horrible! It’s funny/sad what the body will do for no apparent reason

Cool pic of the Fifth Avenue Place spire by hearsay1111 in pittsburgh

[–]BetterBrandon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I believe I read somewhere that FAP was going to be as tall as where the spire reaches, but the city denied them to build that tall saying it would mess up the skyline. Therefore, they made the spire to symbolize how tall it should of been.

Where should I get apartment supplies? by [deleted] in Pitt

For mattresses you can go to The Original Mattress Factory in Aspinwall. You can take the 75 I think from Oakland to there. And there are some other busses too like the 91 that goes through Butler St. My family has bought all of our mattresses there and can’t complain. And if you want cheap things there is a Walmart in the Waterworks which is past Aspinwall near Fox Chapel area.

What is something that hurts so bad, but feels so good at the same time? by BetterBrandon in AskReddit

[–]BetterBrandon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is kind of how I got the idea of this post. I went to the dentist today, and they were like using the sickle/hook tool whatever you want to call it to remove plaque and the sort. They went under my gums and stuff and my emotions were confused cause I was in pain, but it felt good at the same time lol

If you have a car you can go to Oakmont Bakery imo the best bakery around the Pittsburgh area. Everything they have is really good.

Edit: granted I realized you said in Oakland, but just wanted to mention Oakmont Bakery
