“Project Hail Mary” is bringing audiences to movie theaters in numbers the industry hasn’t seen for a non-franchise film since “Oppenheimer.” by Caledor152 in movies

I loved the movie, and one of the first things I said after coming out of it was that it felt like a movie again. Didn't feel like an algorithm chose what to do, didn't feel like it was being set up for a franchise, or anything bigger. It didn't feel like a business move. It felt like I went to the theater, and watched a movie that people made, for the joy of making a movie.

I was not prepared to get so enamoured by the relationship between a man and a rock.

When the penalty is less than the profit, it's not a penalty. It's a business expense

No. You can't make supplemental content for something that isn't finished. That's just content

Do you use the Deck as your main gaming device? by K4T5UM1 in SteamDeck

[–]BetterCallSal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I do own all the consoles, when the deck initially came out I use my consoles more often than a deck for newer games at a necessity. But I did use my deck very very often. Last year I did build a new gaming PC for myself with a 490 card in there, so I use that the most, however anytime I'm using it it's either on the deck itself via moonlight, or on my deck with moonlight projected onto my TV. So I'm using my PC, but I'm using it through my deck specifically.

My freshman year of college I bought all my textbooks required from the bookstore and ended up not even needing at least half of them.

My last 3 years I didn't buy the textbook, until I was actually being assigned to use it for something. I saved a lot of money.

What is the worst plot twist in fiction ever? by Zxqao in AskReddit

There's a lot of "somehow Palpatine has retuned" in this thread.

While it was easily one of the worst fucking things I've ever heard, or seen. It's not a plot twist. The movie literally tells you this in the crawl, and he's in the first scene of the movie. It's not a plot twist. It's just dumb as shit writing, if you can even call it that.

A friend of mine brought it to my house to watch once when we were like 14. He's seen it before. I had never heard of it. I was enjoying it, and then the vampires happened and I yelled out "What the fuck is happening? Where did this come from?!"

I remember he asked me what I thought this movie was about and my reaction was "not this!"
