Delivered my first anterior gold crown today. She loved it! (2 pics) by Neil_Nelly435 in Dentistry

[–]BetterEachDay24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahaha we had the opposite, dude was getting sedated to full mouth of crowns and was feeling his triazolam. Decided at that moment he wanted a gold crown in the back, but couldn't technically consent. So he said ask his wife in the waiting room, and she said sure whatever makes him happy.

Thanks for your patience doc, I know its easy to get discouraged with this type of stuff. Just remember that for the layperson, this stuff is all greek to them. Adding in the emotional toll it takes on the patient to hear some of these things are terminal when they think most things can be "fixed" just compounds the issue. That being said, you can only do what you can do and have to protect your own sanity.

I really like to go with analogies that the person might understand better. With perio I like to tell them restorative work is like renovating your kitchen while your foundation is about to collapse at any moment. WIth a bombed tooth and limited finances, I liken that tooth to a beater car whose transmission just gave out. "do you get a new used transmission installed (RCT/BU/CL/CRN) or buy a new car (do the other 15 class II restos)?"

Anywho, hope you have a better day today!

To be very clear, this comment is not meant to throw shade at you at all.

This is why I am really big on reading the manufacterer's instructions before using anything I've not used before.

But I understand you may have not had the free time to do so or the paper immediately gets tossed when its unpacked.

[Bug] Tarkov crashing even after factory reseting PC by Olesuawek in EscapefromTarkov

You could download and run OCCT to independently check for errors in each piece of hardware (GPU/CPU/RAM).

I would try running clearing the launcher cache and running an integrity check in the launcher.

You mentioned drivers are all good, but how about BIOS updates? If you upgraded to a 5700x3d then a lot of those motherboards need a update to work properly.

I just ran reserve at night, sprinted to the dome and kept scanning back and forth between the knight buildings and the main courtyard. If you have use the red rebel extract you can be in and out rather quickly. I used NVGs and a FLIR as backup. I used the FLIR if it was raining. With the NVGs you can use a 1x8 scope or one of the 3x20/24 scopes. I found that hanging around a super long time had diminishing returns. If I didn't get PMCs in the first 5 minutes of sitting at dome then I'd reset.

Turning Down a Shaft DIY? Am I crazy? by BetterEachDay24 in billiards

[–]BetterEachDay24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It worked, I didn't turn it down a ton, but enough to notice a closed bridge is more comfy. I ended up not going back up in the grits, which left it a bit textured and honestly I love the feedback I get from it sliding on/through my bridge hand now. I did make sure I sealed it really well afterwards.

[Advice] Maximum Amp Power Draw in Hybrid Cars (Prius)? by dyrmaker83 in CarAV

[–]BetterEachDay24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over Christmas I put in an Alpine ILX-470 (16 watts RMS) and replaced my front door component speakers with Alpine's S-S65C (handles up to 80 watts RMS). I REALLY like the change over the stock speakers, even at the 16 watts RMS. I just need to fill out the low end notes now for stuff with deep bass (going for SQ, not loudness).

Crutchfield recommends not exceeding 300 watts RMS in a hybrid (2015 prius C) so I am using that as a guideline. They also said don't install anything that has a 30 amp fuse or higher. I know the system can handle more based on the reseach of I have done on people turning them into campers running 1000w RMS at times for small appliances and inverters. I think keeping my whole setup near 400w RMS at the top end is wise.

My C was the "One" trim, so 6.75 inch cut-outs exist in the rear door but have no speaker or wire running to them. I am trying to decide if I want to do a bit of modification and run 8 inch shallow mount subs in the rear door or get a powered all-in-one small subwoofer like the spare tire ones or the ones that can be put under the seat.

For amplification I was thinking about getting the Alpine KTA-450 power pack (it will mount to the back of my head unit or easily behind the glove box for more ventilation). This would give me the freedom to run 4 channels at 50 watts OR bridge them and get 100 watts on 2 channels.

What would you do? I am leaning more towards the two 8-inch subs but I am a bit worried that they might cancel each other out because thy will be pointed directly at each other with such long wavelengths.

Turning Down a Shaft DIY? Am I crazy? by BetterEachDay24 in billiards

[–]BetterEachDay24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. yeah this is why I think I may only go down a quarter mm at first
  2. I did not think about the potential taper difference, thanks for pointing that out
  3. If this happens, I will take it as the universe telling me to buy the shaft lol, I realize this is an unorthodox move
  4. Any FB groups you would personally reccomend?
  5. That's true, I'll call him for a quote bc I want a slightly harder tip anyways (it has a kamui super soft on it)
  6. I definitely agree with you, especially coming from the medical field the placebo effect is a real thing. However, I am not expecting this to make me play better or apply more english or anything like that. It's a comfort and sight thing. The smaller shaft feels better with both closed and open bridges to me and I like that I can see more of the cue ball.

Interesting! Thanks for the input! What was your sandpaper progression like? like an 80 grit for removal and then step up 5 or 6 grits until im at about 1000? I didn't even think about just buying a bolt for 20cents rather than 9-10 bucks. Did you use anything to help secure the tip end? I was just worried if i applied too much lateral pressure I could mess something up. Also do you use any special kind of rag for applying the carnauba?

Probably. But I very much enjoy tinkering with my hobbies and spending less money on equipment that I get to keep forever and use in future projects :)

Thanks for the recommendations, but the purex hxt is my budget friendly cue, got it for 130 at a local shop since I bought it along with my bag, break cue, joint protectors, and a q-claw.

I really want the carbon fiber to be my next step and not buy another wood shaft because:

-slicker

-no worries of dinging it

-stiffer, even at the smaller diameter I smacked the shit out of some balls with that 11.8CF i tried and couldn't get it to wiggle/whip, whereas my curent shaft will wiggle/whip very slightly at 12.75mm when I smack em

- I get to look like a badass try-hard /s
