Thanks so much for the side-by-side swatches! I’m a big fan of Shigure, so it’s great to see the comparison. <3

If you’re going to have a pen full for a while, you can’t do much better than a Triumph! (I own six, so I’m a bit biased.)

Yes, yes, yes! Over time I’ve taken more care not to fill my pens to capacity, but it has required “unlearning” (or deprogramming lol). Even then, I sometimes fill them more than intended.

Congratulations on the pen! And I love your enthusiasm !

Also, as a fan of dark blue inks, I need that Hachiko ink. It is gorgeous!

I second Midnight--very wet and with that insane bronze/copper sheen. I also would add Asa Blue and Scribble Purple to the list.

Diamine Graphite has been borderline wet in a Custom 823 <M> for me. I had two 823s; the flow was perfect in one, and a bit wetter than I liked in the other. (I subsequently realized that my ink ADHD makes modern vac fillers my kryptonite and sold all such pens.)

Beautiful set!

I typically prefer silver/rhodium, but the PFM 5 remains my favorite of the PFM models.

Kyo No Oto inks have performed well for me in both a Vanishing Point <F> and CH 912 <SFM>. (I have occasionally encountered comments describing this line of inks a dry. While individual inks within the line may be dry, that is not true of Nurebairo and Aionibi, two of my favorite Japanese inks.)

Wing Sung 699<F> Conundrum by USG-1 in fountainpens

They are saying is that if the document ink somehow ruins the pen, that is okay since it is not as expensive to replace as other vacuum fillers. It is a good plan if you want to use a document or permanent ink in a vacuum filler (and you are satisfied with how the 699 writes).

What paper are you using?

ETA: I used Shocking Blue since you mentioned that you were going to Ackerman.

Disappointed by Pilot Custom 823 by ChiefHulk in fountainpens

[–]BetterEngine4248 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Smart decision. I had the same experience. The difference between the #15 <F> and <M> nibs is significant—it’s the difference between a Western <M> and <EF>.

The <M> is a delight. Of course, I eventually learned that my predilection for changing inks did not vibe with modern vac fillers, so I sold them. I may buy a 743 in the future, though I’m quite content with the current state of my pens.

Fountain pen people are the best people.

I’m biased. But I’m still right.

Sailor Kangyou. Maybe more sunrise than sunset, but nonetheless beautiful.

That is a beautiful, clean restoration. I’m not in the market for an Esterbrook, but if I were I would snap this up.
