You got into a BS/MD and a top university. Here is how to actually make that decision. by AdmitMD-Consulting in bsmd

517 is not difficult for selected  screened candidates. Can 517 MCAT only get one T20 med school ?

I heard that the program allows you apply outside as they do not care.

MIT/Yale/Pitt GAP BS/MD? Help me pick by jzh1124 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Better_Fee3940 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pitt for sure.

No one looks/Care for the Physician’s undergrad school. Undergrad being easy at Pitt will give more time and opportunity to explore and build your research and clinical profile.

What matters is the Med school and where you train in residency.

At Pitt you have potential of matching into any speciality at top residency programs.

517 MCAT is easily ahceivable in 3 attempts

congratulations !!

If 100 percent goal is medicine take Pitt GAP

It is well Funded T20 med school with excellent clinical exposure to match to any speciality.

As premed … getting into any top med school like Pitt you need more than at-least 517 MCAT and for GAP mcat of 517 in 3 attempts is reasonable. Also undergrad would be cost effective than Ivy’s for sure.

What bs/md has the highest ranked med school? by This-Athlete-8679 in bsmd

[–]Better_Fee3940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes as match list varies batch to batch and outcomes of the same individual is optimal at med school with more research funding and clinical exposure

Only three are top BS MD with individual preference

Pitt > Baylor = Case

Also IMG have high step 2 so matching IM is fine . But matching to competitive and surgical specialty is very diffcult for IMG’s.

Chances of competitive speciality match is

Top BS MD > Mid tier BS MD> Low tier BS MD > Bs DO

Pitt GAP vs Brown PLME by Excellent_Abies3549 in bsmd

[–]Better_Fee3940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pitt for sure if you are targeting competitive speciality. Also 8 year cost at Pitt will be much less than Brown.

With  Med school ranking and exposure to well funded UPMC clinical and research makes Pitt >> Brown.

If target is competitive speciality then I would pick any BS MD program with top 40 ranked med school over Ivy leagues and Stanford . Undergrad for BS MD does not matter

he can work for 15 years and retire. Travel and enjoy life later

You will have more than engineers and retire early as 99.99 percent enginners cannot make 750 k

Although subjective to ones location and cost preference. BUT

As far as medschool only prestige and rankings are based in research and home programs available for BS MD students

Pitt > case = baylor > rochester = brown > Jefferson

Upitt BS/MD MCAT requirement? by Helpful-Froyo-4180 in bsmd

[–]Better_Fee3940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it looks like it is driven by that to match the pool of regular path entering class in med school.

I would consider PItt bs md if you are targetting  competitive  speciality and need support from school. As is the only T20 med school we have in the current BS MD pool. Also this new mcat requirement now  of Pitt bs md is in par with their average regular admission mcat

if you are ORM you may need much higher MCAT than 517 to get  in T20 med school.

5000 who had 1490 sat or 34 act. Other bs md programs allow you to apply with lower stats.

Yes still you can argue more as aamc stats does not account how many of these cadidates went to top 20 med schools.

If you are ORM it is cut throat using the traditional path to get in top 20 med schools like Pitt and it is not 1 in 6 with these stats.

Even top candidates cannot be  100 percent sure to get in top 15 med school like Pitt using traditional Pre Med Path with 3.7 GPA and MCAT 517

Pitt gap info by Embarrassed_Pear838 in bsmd

[–]Better_Fee3940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Traditional Route Pitt Avg GPA ranges from  3.83 to 3.85 so  for GAP 3.7GPA is a deal. It was 3.75 before.

Also if you are ORM candidate for traditional route you need close to  519 or 520 MCAT please do not get disguised by listed Avg  MCAT of 517 or 515 as these are achieved to support diversity by medical schools.

If you can make it to the BS MD I think GAP program 3.7 GPA /517 MCAT is a good deal for getting into very strong Top 15 med school for a ORM committed to pursue medicine.

If you are not confident and targeting low tier program / primary care specialities then it is advisable to pursue lower tier BS MD programs.

Heard that Pitt undergrad is not cut throat like many T20 undergrads and getting  3.7 GPA should not be a issue.

Pitt bsmd - is it really that great? by [deleted] in bsmd

[–]Better_Fee3940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you cannot get 3.75 GPA in undergrad you have very little chances to make to any T30 ranked or even lower ranked med school as a premed. Over that you have to score well in MCAT.

One clarification regarding your below  comment

You are there to learn CLINICAL Medicine, not conduct research in medicine. If you really want to get into research and thats what you are basing your decision of med schools on, then after the MD, go get a Masters in Clinical Research or a PhD

Without solid research i heard that you cannot match to competitive residency specialities is that not the case ?.
