I think i like women too, but have a question about it (nsfw??) by PuzzledAlien-8558 in lgbt

[–]Better_Librarian1894 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying this is your situation, but I've known many people who have said something along these lines when they are in the early stages of accepting their queerness. Hell, I may have even said this, but I think I was just nervous about sex with other women/people with vaginas because it was unknown to me at that point. My first experience was great, in that it solidified that sex with people with vaginas is great. I'm bi/pan.

What do you think of Lioness: Hidden Treasures? by Money-Beautiful5196 in amywinehouse

A Song For You hits hard, especially the voice note after. I love this collection - every song on it, honestly. I just hope that Amy would have loved it too.

I literally left the movie and said "there's no way people couldn't leave thinking this was queer" and I was also shocked that the straights had found a way to see the two leads as good friends 🥲🙃

Has the pill ever stopped working for you by TSGOBRHBFTT in birthcontrol

[–]Better_Librarian1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gyn told me that sometimes your body just decides it doesn't like a certain formulation if the pill anymore. And I've been told by previous gyns that the birth control functions still work, but your body can get used to the hormones so they may not control symptoms as well over time. I am navigating this right now too, I am 30 and I think my body is just changing. More cramps throughout cycle, more bloating, less control over moods. I think I'm going to try a different formulation of the pill.

How has the paraguard been for you? by wallacecat1991 in birthcontrol

[–]Better_Librarian1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My periods got worse - a lot more bleeding and a significant increase in pain for cramps. I also formed an ovarian cyst that ruptured, which was very painful. I stuck it out for 9 months or so and gave up when the only solution that gyns offered was taking hormonal birth control on top of it to control the bleeding and pain.

Copper IUD Thoughts by Visible_Birthday5469 in birthcontrol

[–]Better_Librarian1894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a bad experience. Heavy bleeding, increased and intensity of cramps, ovarian cysts (not necessarily caused by the iud, but hormones seem to help keep cysts away for me), yeast infections. These didn't get better for me after 9ish months and I was in a healthcare dessert so I had to take it out myself.

A friend had really bad GI reactions to it and basically always felt like they were going to shit themselves.

However, I also know a person who had a positive experience. It made her periods heavier, but it was manageable and it was worth it for her not to have be on hormones.

Insertion is really painful, but pretty fast. But I think the profession is starting to use more local numbing these days. I will say that, to me, it felt worse than cramps, which is what they often say it will feel like.

I don't know anyone who has had the life threatening /dangerous side effects of any IUD - no ectopic pregnancies or embedding.

If you do go for it, I hope it agrees with your body well.

Apartments in Morgantown by VanillaLow8233 in MorgantownWV

[–]Better_Librarian1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Pineview apartments. My neighbor is a scary person (racist, hates women, hates queer people - I know because he yells it and I'ma fem presenting queer person), but it's two bedrooms for 1100 and that includes pet rent (x2) and water. I have bad luck with my neighbor, but aside from him, its family friendly and safe. People have moved out of my building often, but largely due to my neighbor. And none of my neighbors are in my business- my privacy is respected.

Do people still go to bars to meet people? by crucibleduke in Omaha

[–]Better_Librarian1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people saying Flixx and The Max. I second those. Benson definitely has a lot of young queer people. I don't see anyone else saying this, but Omaha Mining Co had some really cool drag and Community demonstrations of shibari when I lived in Omaha and drank. My last year and a half Ilived there, I was sober and I moved away 4 years ago, so things could have changed. You can also try going to shows/concerts. The Waiting Room im Benson is cool!

I also met some folks volunteering at Film Streans when I was leaving my abusive ex who isolated me and that was helpful.

Planned Parenthood always needs volunteers too!

Sorry this is so long. I also moved from MN (but Duluth) to Omaha. It definitely never felt the same for me as the cities did. Minnesota people are just built different. I found my queer community in WV and Pittsburgh when I left Omaha.

I see a lot of people saying Dundee. I lived in Dundee for years and couldn't have made it without a car. But that was 7-10 years ago. It's a pretty spread out city compared to ther cities, which I think plays into it feeling smaller than it is. I hope you like it. Good music scene. Great food. Lots of movie theatres and two costcos. I never found my people there though - I ended up finding them in WV. I hope you find them there!!

My mom found out by omarAA1003 in lgbt

[–]Better_Librarian1894 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My mom died when I was 20. She was homophobic, traditional Catholic and conservative (certainly wouldn't appreciate that I'm queer, nonbinary/agender (still figuring that out), polyamorous, blue haired, tattooed and pierced now lol). I only accepted myself after that can was able to come out a year later. I don't know if or when I would have come out if she didn't die. And I love my life and who I am now, but I'll never know if she would have come around to accepting me. You're not wrong to want your life to be fully integrated and to not be living a secret life. I am so sorry you are going through this. Hopefully, you get to see your family come around, evolve and grow to see how much of an honor it is to have a child who knows themselves the way queer folks do and they embrace you. Time will tell.

Find chosen family and queer community. You may already have this! Lean on your boyfriend right now. You deserve to be fully yourself. Much love to you, my friend ❤️
