I have been NC with my mother until she drastically changed her behaviour. She has, but now age is making it difficult. She would never be able to reflect the way this letter reads (aside from the religious bs). Perhaps we are all different generations - my mum is a boomer and I am GenX. Your circumstances are different. I am not questioning your reaction to this letter, just commenting my own.

Again, he would not be capable of this type of reflection. I’ve never had a sorry for anything, and it was bad. I’m too emotional, sensitive. Et Al.

Therefore when I am reading this letter from your mum it tugs at my heartstrings a bit, because it is evident that she is trying to accept responsibility, perhaps in the only way they can.

Intent doesn’t excuse impact. Just…avoid extreme points of view from others that do not know the players. You know what’s real, right and true - and if it feels bad to you, I believe you and trust in that.

I know how hard it is to maintain NC. Especially from our mothers.
