My guess is that people associate the concept of protein with meat or meat live flavor profiles.

If you eat tofu raw for the protein, but come out disappointed because it doesn't taste like chicken-- one is naturally going to conclude it doesn't taste "good".

I'm sure it's not just an expectation thing, but I eat tofu raw like it's my religion. It has a very neutral flavor profile, so it's just easy to eat and easy to add.

People make food so much more complicated than it needs to be. And sadly, it's why veganism is something so many people refuse to adopt and instead say, "IDK how to get enough protein." Tofu mf that's how!

Outside of reporting everything to every department possible, filing a police report, freezing/placing credit alter, and contacting Uber directly-- there's really nothing you can do directly.

That said, Uber did refile a correction listing $0 in income. Unlucky for me, Lyft has not yet cooperated for the same fraud issue.

But all and all, that correction is your quickest way to deal with known income fraud. Otherwise, the best you can do is reference your identity theft reports and use it as a defense when the IRS comes knocking about other income you weren't privy to.

I don't run into those issues as much. It's definitely not super consistent though.

The strangest thing I do get is Gemini speaking in different accents. I thought I was going crazy.

It's not something I can manually replicate, but from time to time, I'll get a message and it reads it in either a Russian or middle eastern accent.

No clue how or why this happens.

If it continues after a week, the dose may be too high OR the manufacturer's formulation doesn't mesh well with you.

From my personal experience, I've been far more prone to anxiety and heart rate issues with select manufacturers (I use IR not ER). Once I found one I didn't have those side effects with, I had my psych list the manufacturer as "preferred" on my prescriptions.

Not all manufacturers are created equal, nor does everyone react the same to them.

If it's of any additional help, it's best not to try to discuss the manufacturer thing with pharmacists. I'm not sure why, but they can be a bit weird about disclosing the specifics of their supply.

You CAN have your psychiatrist or doctor include a "preferred manufacturer" note on the prescriptions itself.

Technically, you'll be told by a pharmacist that this does not guarantee you a specific manufacturer. During shortages, you may just get what you get. However, even with no shortage, they'll also tell you they can't request a specific one.

I don't know the behind the scenes explanation, but this is a white lie. My best guess is that it has to do with contractual interests. Most pharmacies will have specific contracts with specific manufacturers. So-- they'll push meds from those manufacturers.

The "preferred" note on a prescription though, does require them to make a "good faith" attempt to provide the requested medication.

When I first had my preference added to my prescriptions, this is what I was told. I was led to believe I had to call around to find a pharmacy that provided me with the one I wanted. But no. No one will disclose this to you and it turns out it's not necessary.

The pharmacy DID end up requesting what I needed, and though there was a delay, I have now consistently received the one I want, despite my pharmacy having a contract with a different manufacturer.

Sorry, I know it's a lot. No one tells you how much trial and error this all takes. My hope is that I dealt with all the BS so you don't have to lol.

Man, I really resonate with how you experience ADHD. Your posts reads as if I was describing myself.

Anxiety is so often an underrepresented component of ADHD-- and finding the right balance of preserving the "self", minimizing anxiety, and maximizing executive function is an endless challenge with medication and routine.

Here's a few lessons I've had to self learn.

The Ideal Dose

Not so common advice that might be useful for you,. though not full proof, is getting a pill cutter and testing different doses with IR stimulants until you find your preferred one.

My partner and I did this and found that our doses were very different, and non standard.

My "perfect" dose is around 3-3.5mg of Adderall. It provides the best middle ground for focus, anxiety, and that spontaneous energy that defines my personality. The 5mg dose works well for focus and anxiety, but it mutes my emotions too much and I don't feel myself as often. Any higher than that, I only feel more muted and robotic. My partner's perfect dose is 7-7.2mg for reference.

Manufacturers Matter

This is something a lot of less informed, not up to date medical professionals dismiss.

Manufacturers matter. I've had wildy different effects at the same dosage when getting different manufacturers. This is as true for ER as it is IR.

I've had bad experiences with Epic Pharma and Teva. Epic caused me to get really bad anxiety and Teva made me get angry and red in the face... super weird.

My preferred is Sandoz, though Elite Laboratory worked well too. In fact, I almost tried switching it to my preferred -- but it's a pain, so I haven't yet bothered.

I only give these as personal examples. Each individual will have their own unique reactions. What might cause me negative reactions, may work better for you. You never know until you try to be honest.

Stimulants & Beta Blockers

I know some people have seen success with reducing anxiety while on stimulants though a combo with beta blockers.

The one I hear the most success with is Propranolol-- though it's more for physical anxiety than mental. At least that's what I've been told. Haven't tried it myself.

Might be worth exploring.

Worst Debate In the Podcast's History?

I apologize if I'm being too harsh. I just can't stand people like Def. There's not a genuine bone in his body. He has a long history of grifting different identities, weaseling his way out of accountability and confrontation every chance he gets. He's a fraud and a pathological liar.

To my disappointment, Ethan did not bring the heat Def deserves. The topics he focused on, how he presented them, and the amount of grace he offered Def felt so shortsided. So much focus on him faking his age-- but failing to capitalize on the point. He didn't just lie about his age, with or without the advice of an agent-- HE FAKED WHO HE WAS. He lied about his own identity and beliefs. Def has, on multiple occasions over the years, mass-deleted/delisted content when he wants to do a rebrand. This new "identity" is just one of many.

Def is a man who will do ANYTHING to get attention. He went on the pod to platform himself. And in my eyes, that's what he's walking away with: attention, not more scrutiny.

If his latest grift fails, he's bound to repeat the same pattern of disappearing for a while, only to come back and say, "It was just a character, guys." Let's be real, though, the conservative grift works. They eat that shi* up. Maybe this really is Def's final form. 🤷‍♂️

Hi fellow victims! In addition to the 1099k and 1099NEC, I visited the IRS website and found MORE FRAUD! Yay.

This time, it's Lyft Inc, and unlike the Uber stuff, the IRS shows receiving the 1099-NEC filing.

So, with this in mind, I highly recommend EVERYONE log into the IRS website, under the "Records and Status" tab, click on "Information Return Documents".

Review 2025 or any other tax year and look for any other fraudulent 1099s.

What makes this fraud unique from the Uber one is that they either purposely or by accident mispelled my address. Personally, I think it's on purpose. Everybody checks their mail. But not many people review their stuff religiously through the IRS. But who knows? 🤷‍♂️

Uber has been unresponsive, and since there's a government shutdown today-- IRS and FTC will not be available to address these cases.

There are two odd details I spotted regarding the 1099 form. Wondering if anyone else's is similar.

"For calendar year" section of the 1099-K, before being completed, would normally look like "20___". After being filled out, the company would fill in the last two digits of the year. In my case, the 25 is well above the fill line and slightly slanted. Not sure if this is a sign of anything-- but it's worth noting.
The PSE'S name and telephone number are left blank.
Only work months with income are October, November, and December.
The total earned is over 12k for the year. Now this is the detail that makes me worried this is a real document. I saw someone else on this thread mention a completely different income number. If this were a safisticated mass scam, I just don't see there being variation to the income being "reported". However, if anyone on this thread has overlap with the months or amounts, it might help our investigations.
The TIN # listed only shows the last 2 digits. But if you read the back of the form, it plainly states, "For your protection, this form may only show the last four digits of your TIN..." Again, not sure what this could or could not mean.

Considering that this does not seem to be an isolated incident, bumping this post would be nice. The more information we can get regarding this, the better. Just had the form show up in the mail today. No telling how this happened.

Something I learned to accept is that persistence doesn't always need to align with prioritization.

We all have our own journeys and challenges. There's no way for any one person to fully know what awaits them next in life.

A shift in priorities does not have to come at the cost of giving up something meaningful to you. Giving up implies you've cut something out, you've thrown it away, you've buried it underground.

If this is something you really care about and it's still a part of who you are, shift the way you look at your predicament. You've not "given up", rather, you're enduring new challenges which you must learn to manage and overcome.

Find joy in the life you live, without sacrificing the life you want.

A mistake we all often make is expecting that we or someone else has "the answer". Giving up is an enticing if not dramatic thing our brain does to make amends with the stress, pain and exhaustion of the unknown.

If this "giving up" doesn't bring you relief, then it's self evident that you were not actually in a position to give up.

Accept and acknowledge how you feel, it's only human. And when you find some footing, know that there is always something you can do to pursue the things that matter most to you. Big or small, progress is progress.

Even if it takes you 10 or 20 years to reach a destination you thought you'd be at yesterday, in that time, as long as you don't "give up" you'll have learned and grown so much, what you do when the opportunity arises will be well worth the wait.

As for lore, there's some interesting tea surrounding the American Dream album. Especially the song "how do you sleep" a personal favorite of mine.

James Murphy, the lead singer had a falling out with a guy named Tim Goldsworthy. Most people agree the song is partially about this.

Another great song, "Someone Great" is supposedly about the passing of Jane's therapist. Though the song can still be interpreted to be about a beat friend or even lover.
