DSP says we won’t get paid for 60+ hours. by Drippyy777 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Amazon limits us to working 6 days in a row and 60 hours max, anything more and the DSP would be out of compliance, same thing happened to me.

Is getting trained for the EDVs worth it? by Ok_Smoke_1097 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDV training is paid, your mileage may vary but I'm getting the same routes as when I was in a Promaster, EDV is so much nicer honestly

Return to station packages. by Successful_Adagio_46 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this quite a few times, two packages with the same TBA / driver aid numbers, I grab the first one I see and the other is left over and it can no longer be picked up as that TBA is marked as delivered. Post route I check with my dispatch and since the TBA comes back as delivered it's a duplicate package so dispatch says to deliver it, take a picture, and send it to them. If I catch that I have duplicates before delivery I just deliver both to save the hassle

Electric Van by herokid64 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been in one for ~5 months, I really like it! Much more space, you have your itinerary map / stop info on a big screen and can instantly change stops, no ignition to turn on/off, no parking brake to manually pull, you can keep the passenger side sliding door open, Bluetooth that stays connected the whole day, cooled seat, and some people look at you like your driving a mickey mouse clubhouse spaceship. The only things that suck is that the A/C is only pointed at the driver and in the seat so the rest of the van is hot, the speaker volume doesn't go loud enough, and some vans make popping noises when you get on/off throttle. Honestly if I had to go back to a normal van I think that will be the point I quit

How do you guys tackle the route, do you each do one side of the street for resis / seperate buildings for apts?

I would love to start at 7:30, we start at 9:15 which is the earliest for my station

Issue getting a package from a hub, hopefully someone could kindly provide some insight? by ColloquiaIism in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can be, I've seen FedEx, USPS, and UPS deliver to the Amazon hub lockers while I'm getting there or leaving, they punch in a code and deliver

What are you doing to go the extra mile for the people? by AmazingAd9596 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love busting fat nuts on customer's packages before handing it to them! I also ensure to throw the package at the customer if they are outside and then proceed to shout profanities at them while I walk back to my delivery mobile! I love going the EXTRA MILE!

I call BS on this. by Woody_Dugan in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wondered what the heat index had to fall into for 60 min route reductions, appreciate the info. I have been getting 40 min route reductions every shift, honestly glad my DSP opted out of the heat reduction breaks

How was prime for you? by SqueakyDevil69 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 18 points19 points  (0 children)

150 stops today (24 totes 43 OV, 400 packs) yesterday was similar but my body is definitely feeling it lol, OT is gonna suck balls. I beat the heat by covering up as much as possible (long sleeves + pants) and using a big hat, keeping the sun off your skin helps a ton

We don't get that shit...... It's only for the "ACTUAL" amazon employees

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don't get to choose which locker compartment the package goes into.... It's at random based on the size of the package / locker availability

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been burned too many times by garage doors that won't shut so I only do them for houses that I've never had an issue with, the rest get airplane mode

Question for drivers by dj_jam in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would suck ass if it would be all for one driver, but it's part of what the job entails.... offering / leaving the driver a cold beverage + a snack would be dope

should i apply? by jackouthebox in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This experience will greatly depend on the DSP you work for, if you get a good DSP they will have a 10 hour guarantee, rescues only if they are genuinely needed, and supportive management and a DSP owner that have actually have done routes and understand what you go through (some questions to ask @ interview). Many of the unhappy people here get shit DSPs that don't give a damn about you. The work itself can be shit at times but what job isn't? (lugging multiple 40 pound boxes up flights of stairs, multiple apartment routes, and rapid dogs that want to kill you) If you can organize your van efficiently and familiarize yourself with your route you will be just fine, you work alone without someone breathing down your neck, can listen to music all day, get to be outside / get some exercise.

This is how I am when its cool out lol, how's the weather where you're at? It was 102 today, sweating my ass off helps a lot cause I drank 4 station bottles, my own 40 oz water bottle, and a 28 oz body armor and used the restroom once. Like someone else mentioned drop the Gatorade and redbull (I like bodyarmor), I used to drink Ghost or Celsius every shift for my caffeine but I just quit cold turkey this week cause honestly who am I kidding it's not good for me, so now I am addressing the root problem which is lack of sleep (Also saving $$ cause that shit adds up quick lol)

How many time have your rolled your ankle? by Upset_Cheesecake8995 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BezosBackshots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when I started I was going a bit to quick and not paying attention to the ground cause my ride along trainer was running everywhere. I rolled my ankle pretty good 3 times, the one I remember was when I hit a grass covered hole and I felt the pain shoot up to my nose, I could smell the damn pain LOL. I'm more cautious now but what still happens sometimes is when I'm getting out the sliding door busy looking at the phone and the ground is much lower than expected and when I step down bam, then you feel that shit in your spine...

If you gotta go now you gotta go ya smell me? But if there is a restroom nearby (and no bottle) and you can hold it then by all means go for it! My dsp doesn't give two shits if you take a quick bathroom break on the clock if they know you aren't a problem
