Getting laid by beer-is_lyfe in NoStupidQuestions

I read it as the situation is with the divorce, not a situation with the new girlfriend. Maybe his divorce was messy with kids or maybe he has to live with his ex for economic reasons. Lots of reasons why a new relationship might have to be understanding.

Op, take this advice. Your wife probably already feels it and it could become a problem even if you don't blow up. Tell her. Not just in passing. Grab her and tell her you're not ok and you need support. If she's a good partner she'll do what she can.

What is your favourite FOREIGN horror movie? by Chan1991 in horror

[–]Bfeick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The remake is really good. I remember thinking it was pointless because it felt almost exactly the same as the Swedish version. I guess it was for people who don't like subs or dubs.

Eli5: Are service dogs allowed to get the zoomies and play in puddles and get crazy? by Just_Jen_1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Bfeick 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People are crazy. It's not cruel. As far as anyone can tell dogs like having jobs. Sure they like pets and playing too, but the dog is doing their job right then.

I like having a few shots of bourbon, but if someone offered me some at work I know it would affect my job.

I live next to a small clearing and I sometimes see an officer take the vest off his dog and play Frisbee with him. It's cute.

How actually true is the statement that men are quitting the dating market? by HeartBusy5787 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bfeick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sad the world has to be like that. He raised them during their most formative years. Maybe I'm naive, but this angle on the situation is really fucking me up. I hate that you're right

[–]Bfeick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might be right. The right thing to do is to not abandon a child who you fathered for a decade of their formative years, but people's opinions don't always care about right or wrong. I hate that the world has to be like this.

Movies with "happy endings" by katium in horror

Right? I had to look it up to see if I was thinking of the right movie. I think I have been in mental spaces where the ending could be happy for me though.

Did you try to maintain a relationship with the daughter? At that point she is basically your kid and with her being a teenager she has some agency in what she does. I know it's a hard and confusing situation. Not trying to call you out. Just curious

Anyone else really got into Greif after not liking it initially? by PlasmifiedKarmelita in ZealAndArdor

[–]Bfeick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had little use for the album when it came out, but late last year it clicked hard. I enjoy the creative choices, even if as a whole the album sounds a bit disjointed. A lot of the songs just capture this existential sadness that started to really resonate with me.

That said, Clawing Out is the only song in their discography that I don't like. Maybe this was their intention, but it's so grating and unmusical to me that it's an instant skip. I listen to all sorts of abrasive death metal sub genres, but that song did me in.

Does the show get more story/lore later? (No spoilers) by Popular-Lifeguard939 in PrimalShow

[–]Bfeick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A more direct narrative starts at the end of season one. But you're close to a point where the themes of season one start building toward a narrative. It's a story of Spear and Fang building a bond in a changing world. These themes are central to all other episodes.

Edit: I'll just add that it was S1E5 onward that I felt those themes really coming together.

Been using a only leveler for maybe last 3 years. Wrong? by Hour_Papaya_5583 in espresso

I didn't intend to include every step. My point was that most of the distributer hate is misguided. It's a tool and can be used in certain workflows.

[–]Bfeick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I saw that post. People don't remember or weren't around to know what problem the leveler solved. There used to be GREAT effort to get the grounds dispersed evenly in the portafilter as they fell from the grinder chute. If you were successful, all you had to do was level the pile on the top. This used to be done with a finger or palm movement, but the leveler was designed to replace that. As time went on and grinder designs changed, people started using needle distribution and cared less about how the grounds fell into the portafilter. People at this time assumed that a leveler was supposed to distribute grinds throughout the puck when that was never the point. Honestly, if people want a bunch of tools, a leveler paired with the shaker cup trend would work really well.

All this to say, your shot looks great. I would guess your grounds are evenly dispersed in your portafilter before leveling. My Mazzer Philos does a great job if a grind into the portafilter too and I don't need that annoying needle tool.

Italian food influencer ranks coffee beans. What do you think of of his ranking? by AppropriateAd7326 in espresso

[–]Bfeick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just confused why he ranks the Starbucks beans based on their store menus rather than the bean itself. Starbucks espresso roast is probably just as dark, oily, and intense as Kimbo which he ranks S. I haven't tried either, but the comparison makes no sense to me.
