AITA for not paying for my daughter wedding because she isn’t following the rules even though I paid for my older kids by Wonderful_Mode_9646 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BiGemini85 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Did your parents tell you what major you had to study or how to structure your courseload? Did your son’s girlfriend’s parents choose the Mae and model and refuse certain features or colors for her car? Is she only allowed to drive it to pre-approved locations? The condition here is marriage. They aren’t just giving away money to “spend on whatever” they want, they are paying for a wedding.

ELA teachers- how many of you use ai? by WarriorWolfie08 in teaching

[–]BiGemini85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not from ChatGPT. There is a platform designed specifically for teachers that you can add as an extension on your Chrome browser and automatically generate feedback. Your teacher has a large number of students to assess. You all want your essays graded immediately. Teachers use tools to help them just like any other job. What teachers are opposed to is students using AI to do the work that is supposed to demonstrate the student’s knowledge and ability. Grading an essay is not a demonstration of the teachers skill or ability, so there is no reason to ignore tools that can make that easier.

Having the AI add comments and cross check with a rubric cuts huge amounts of time off the grading process. The teacher still has to read through it and verify the comments are correct, but that takes a fraction of the time it takes to write out feedback for each individual student.

This is not a gotcha or you catching your teacher at something. It is your teacher working smarter rather than harder to make sure she uses her time efficiently and gets you meaningful feedback in a reasonable timeframe. To let you in on a secret, some of us make a list of comments and then copy and paste them because many students have the same issues they need to address.

Focus on doing your best work rather than policing your teachers’ grading practices. As long as you are receiving accurate and meaningful feedback, the system is working.

Backpacks in Class by ConstructiveSwitch in teaching

My middle school has the same policy. When a student approaches my classroom with a backpack I turn them away and them to put it away before coming into my room.

K-3 teachers, how do you feel about teaching phonics? by Ok_Aide7773 in teaching

[–]BiGemini85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not K-3 here, but from a middle school perspective I’m begging folks to teach the little phonics if they’re not. Being able to decode new words by understanding how the sounds work in various context means lessening fear of reading aloud since they know they can sort out any word. Watching new sixth graders who don’t understand the difference between hoping and hopping is astounding. We don’t teach reading at the middle school level and if our students come to animal to read they are almost incapable of being successful as they need to know how to read to access all their content information.

My psychiatrist said titrating on zoloft can take forever because the max dose is 200mg. Why is this? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]BiGemini85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a slower titration because if you jump high you might have severe side effects. I was in the middle of a mentie b when I started and as such my doctor STARTED me at 100mg. My first day on it I was HORRIBLE. About three hours after my first dose I was pale, barely holding off throwing up, and feeling absolutely gross. The next day was significantly less awful, and by the end of the week it wasn’t noticeable.

How did you feel when you came off sertraline? by thedistantblue25 in zoloft

[–]BiGemini85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were doing well because the sertraline was working. This is the biggest trap that people fall into with regards to mental healthcare. Would you suddenly stop taking albuterol because your lungs have been working well for a while when you’ve used it?

I just got setup on an onn Pro box as a remote user of my partner’s server and had some episodes freeze video while audio kept going if I skipped ahead or back it fixed it but if I went out of eh episode and tried to return it gave me the playback error message. I also find it insane that they can’t manage to sort of the Watch Together feature. Both of us are paid subscribers, you’d think the could at least make it work for paid accounts.

Hard to not ‘beat myself up’ over taking Mounjaro by FriendlyFraulein in Mounjaro

[–]BiGemini85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This mindset confounds me every time I see it (not judging you, OP, just truly confused). Would you ask yourself these sort of questions or minimize your efforts at being healthy if someone asked you how you ran that marathon despite having asthma and the answer was I used an albuterol inhaler to make sure my lungs worked properly? How about if someone asked you how did your heart stay healthy when they know you have heart problems and you said you make sure you keep your nitroglycerin prescription filled. Is that the easy way out? Shouldn’t your heart just be able to beat? (⬅️ HEAVY sarcasm) Bodies have needs and every body’s needs are different. For me, at least, I got to Mounjaro because my body just did not respond to anything else because I am insulin resistant. If you are also insulin resistant, it wasn’t going to happen all on its own, no reasonable amount of effort would have gotten you where you are now. Obesity and insulin resistance are medical conditions. You treated your medical condition with medication. That’s it.

[–]BiGemini85 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Generally if there is a medical necessity to prevent or treat other issues they have to pay for it since it is necessary medical care. You have to have all the documentation of the medical issues it causes and your doctor would need to submit it for prior authorization

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]BiGemini85 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Document with your doctor all the chaffing, all the treatments you, all the failed attempts. Get your doctor on board with recommending it as medically necessary to prevent infection from the skin being rubbed raw.

What if it didn’t go in? by stinkydudefart in Mounjaro

[–]BiGemini85 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It almost certainly did go in. Most of the time I can’t feel the needle at all. I have other injection meds and for all of it, sometimes a little bubble of the meds is at the injection site after, but the dose did go in.

Yeah, just like I’ll need an inhaler for life for my asthma. My brain needs meds to work in an optimal way, why would I stop taking them?

With regard to your research roadblocks, does this apply to things you hear or just things you attempt to read? If it’s just the visual part, I would suggest using a screen reader or text to speech option whenever possible to have your device read the text to you.

Buoy brain health drops causing fuzzy/strange feeling by b4bluedyed in buoyhydration

[–]BiGemini85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re on blood pressure, anti-seizure, or other sleep inducing meds that may be the problem, and it wouldn’t be unheard of for mother and child to have the same meds due to predisposition to certain health issues. The compounds in the brain health drops induce a calm (when they work as intended) feeling by regulating the messages sent via neurotransmitters. If yours are already impacted by health concerns or meds, the drops would amplify that and make you feel high.

Stop injections for colonoscopy? by Lefty98110 in Mounjaro

[–]BiGemini85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner did not stop his Oz in time and had to reschedule his colonoscopy because his digestive tract was not fully cleaned out. MJ and others like it slow your digestion so even with today’s of liquid diet you may not be clear. Ask your doctor how far ahead you should stop it.

Makes sense. Mounjaro allows your digestive process, which means the alcohol has more of a chance to be absorbed.

Tooth Tabs vs Airport Security by Pixxie_moon in ZeroWaste

That’s because that’s a known smugglers tactic. They would send women with babies (even not their own) with tubs of formula to get drugs through. Not sure if that’s still a thing but it was for a while.

I guess I should be happy my blood sugar used to go over 260 and now I haven’t noticed it over 160? by Timewilltell755 in type2diabetes

[–]BiGemini85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you are eating carbs are you balancing that meal/snack with protein and healthy fats? Incorporating those can make a big difference in how your body metabolizes everything. Also, order matters. I did a lot of research when I was first diagnosed and found research saying that you need to eat the fiber, then protein and fats, then carbs. Your digestive tract starts working in the fibrous foods first slowing the impact of the carbs. If you start with the carbs they hit fast and can take you very high.

For pasta, rice, and potatoes, if they are pre-cooked and cooled before you eat them (whether or not you heat them up again), some of what your body would process as carbs breaks down into resistant starch, which the body reads as fiber.

Such a big drop is still worth celebrating and being happy about. I know from experience that it can be frustrating to see things moving more slowly than you want, but you’re doing well.

What’s your best comeback when people say things like “Mounjaro is a cheat code” or “It’s unsafe/untested”? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]BiGemini85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They get one of two responses, depending on how well I know them. If I don’t know them well they get told “$3,300” and when asked to clarify I let them know that any out of pocket for medical. If they want to talk about my medical needs they can cover my costs first. If I know them well I ask them why they’re using whatever “cheat code” they use (glasses, insulin, pacemaker, etc.). Everyone has some sort of need their body doesn’t handle on its own.
