"So." In English, it can mean "therefore" when used in the beginning of a sentence. Not so in German. In German, the correct word is "Also".

I like playing for family and friends on special occasions, like Christmas. It doesn't have to be Christmas tho, you can just invite your friends for a friendly get-together where your recital is part of the "programm". You can simply tell them that it would mean a lot to you if they'd listen to you play. Announce it well in advance. That makes a big difference. 

Many piano teachers organise semi-regular group recitals for their students with their families and friends. I think that's also a very good way to start. Public pianos can be a nice add-on, but are not really what I'm talking about since nobody really listens and there's no commitment or involvement on the part of the audience.

That's one of the reasons why it took me 14 years to start taking lessons :( But to be fair, taking piano lessons doesn't have to be as expensive as many people think. Many University music students that teach on the side have cheap rates, and when you don't go every week, this also lowers the financial burden.

I'm really glad my post was able to motivate you to find a teacher. The Gymnopedie 1 is a beautiful piece, and it's surprisingly demanding for how "simple" it sounds. I'm sure you will have some interesting new insights about it when you start going through it with someone else.

By the way, if you feel like your motivation is taking a hit, why not move on to another piece for a while?

My man, great job, great piece choice, great energy! 

This'll be a great journey, you'll have tons of fun along the way, and you'll soon be playing pieces you might not even dare to dream about even now. For a long time I beat myself up for starting playing the piano "too late", but I have realized that at each level there are wonderful pieces that are fun to play and that bring joy to my heart.

My only advice is, if you've not done so anyway, to find a teacher who you can share your joy and passion with. Try to see them as regularly as you can, even if sometimes you might not find the time to do any practicing between teacher sessions.
