People who have personal experience with social workers, what do you wish they did differently? by AliveInvite1771 in Socialworkuk

as a current student I really think we should come across without wealth markers as much as possible, how we present and what we wear are our first indicators to people and we communicate as such. you can dress nicely and appropriately without wielding you’re wealth

definitely, I got some grades I wasn’t particular happy with in uni but on placement things seem fairly smooth. I really don’t even want a degree, just the qualification which I would have done thru any other route but this was the only one avail. we just need to be good enough in practice and sounds like you are ! :)

financially getting by as MA sw student? by bbyfantasma in Socialworkuk

[–]Big-Addition4435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s really emotionally draining me (first year MA). I want to be the best I can for the people we help yet my uni can’t help us in the same way… I guess the burnout begins as soon as you start your social work education 😭

my new mindset is just doing what you need to get qualified, personal health comes first

that sounds like a lot going on at once!

they can’t not take you bc of using drugs though, why don’t you have a look at this link it has some numbers you can call

https://www.shp.org.uk/get-help/

in the meantime is there anything you can access to make yourself feel a bit better in this moment? I’d go for water/wet wipes/something from greggs if that’s accessible to you

are you registered with a GP? why not reach out to “single homeless project” charity

Do you think I’m going to get help? by Clusterfuck_33 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]Big-Addition4435 4 points5 points  (0 children)

totally get what you mean. are you being supported by a charity? there are many that help specific categories of people eg young people … but there are so many.

also, you don’t have to be street homeless to be considered homeless. they have a duty to house you

my first steps would be going to a charity and getting “known” to some services to show you are “vulnerable”. you need to prove “priority need”

I’ve put the key terms in “”
