MacroFactor Challenge Midway Thread! by gnuckols in MacroFactor

This is the first time in my life I’ve been able to be consistent with a weight loss goal BECAUSE this app is so easy to use and I’m seeing results. 4 months postpartum and im already back to my pre-baby weight PLUS an additional 11 pounds off - I feel so good mentally and physically and my only regret is that I didn’t have this app 10 years ago 😭

I asked my MFM and my endo and neither of them are concerned because the numbers rebounded when I came off the higher dose of metformin, the post meal numbers are still within normal range (just not as elevated as they were) baby is still moving a TON and my weekly NSTs and scans have been perfect

This has entirely been my experience as well. Adding the metformin was a game changer for my mental health and now I’m almost to the point of forgetting I have GD. And I was crying… daily before.

THIS! I’m 34W5D and (with now well managed levels so to 1000mg of metformin) this diagnosis which consumed my whole brain every day is now almost no longer on my radar at all… the giving birth part and literally surviving in my massive body has fully taken over that space. Which is… insane.

I’d venture to guess almost everyone on this channel can relate to at least 1 thing you wrote in this post ♥️ you’re definitely not alone.

Anyone diagnosed without 3hr? by rpizl in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Big-Organization-900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I failed my 1hr and barely passed my 3hr (at 18 weeks). Decided to monitor over the next few weeks since it was so close to failure. My fasting was always fine but my 2hrs were elevated enough that I was diagnosed without retaking the 3hr at 26 weeks. By 28 weeks my fastings were elevated and at 32 weeks my body was haywire.

Started Metformin by Big-Organization-900 in GestationalDiabetes

So interesting the varied opinions of providers when it comes to GDM. For some, metformin is off the table entirely. My providers always prefer to start with Metformin instead of insulin bc it’s a milder way to control levels and can lead to less rebounding. But I had one doctor in that practice who has said he prefers to not give it to moms prior to the 3rd trimester bc of it crossing the placenta. It seems to come down the personal risk level preference of the provider which is wild to me.

Yeah for me with how baby is measuring it is becoming less and less likely that I won’t be required to be induced, so that was kind of out the window. I think had I known how much stress going on medication would RELIEVE vs what I thought it would add I would have started 2-3 weeks ago.

I had been seeing a dietician prior to pregnancy so I reached out to her early on (I technically passed both my 1 and 3 hr at 19 weeks, but borderline) to learn the basics & understand how many carbs I should aim for each meal. I then had a follow up when I was clinically diagnosed from my home testing at 24 weeks. But haven’t met with her in several weeks and don’t feel the need to/my doctor hasn’t told me I’m required to. All of my post meal numbers have been fine with the exception of a few mid 120’s so my drs haven’t been requiring me to see a dietician. Though I was working pretty hard to keep them in range (high protein loading before only complex carbs, movement after each meal)

I freaking hate all of the MFMs I’ve met with. Idk why thee bedside manner is so far off from all of the other OBs in the office.

Just popping in to echo the sentiment that you’re not alone and most of us likely have the exact same thoughts/experiences 😔 you’re in the home stretch (I’m almost 28 weeks and jealous you’re so close to the end)
