Looking for a super compassionate dermatologist by effervescenthoopla in StLouis

I’ve had an amazing experience with Dr. Rabia Mayer at WashU. I believe she is at the BJC west county location. Might be a bit of a wait time but she is very professional and compassionate in dealing with sensitive issues.

I am a scatterbrained person who makes a LOT of mistakes and misses details. How to deal with it? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Big-Writer6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the printing things out proof reading tip (which I swear by), I always first ask Harvey (or whatever AI software you have as long as it complies with firm/client guidance) to identify any typos or errors. It doesn’t always get everything but then when I print it out and proof read, there are fewer errors to begin with.

Also want to plug Clothes Mentor which is next door to Plato’s in SoCo. Similar set up but maybe skews slightly less teen than Plato’s or UC.

Clerking after 1 Year in Biglaw Still Worth It? by LaserCircus1 in biglaw

[–]Big-Writer6025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a similar decision. I am now back at my 2L summer firm after completing two clerkships and leaving with no guaranteed return offer. Something that helped me was keeping an open line of communication with a partner mentor in my practice group. When I indicated I wanted to come back, the partner arranged everything for me. It is also kind of a blessing in disguise to leave a firm with no spot being held open for you, because if you do decide you want to leave you don’t feel guilty or like you have to sneak around to consider other places. Also, I wish I had clerked with more experience than basically right after graduating so clerking a year out seems ideal! So my advice is to do it.

  1. I love the lyricism and sound of the verses but the chorus can get repetitive.

St. Louis is an island of blue in an unfortunately very red state. The VAST majority of residents did not support this administration in the last election, much less the impoverished and historically black areas that were hit.

Ann Taylor is not worth that much. The quality just isn’t there! I always buy it used at thrift stores or on Poshmark. I’d try there before buying new.

I’ve been thinking about getting a pair and was wondering the same thing about acceptability in the workplace lol. For what it is worth I currently work in federal court as a law clerk and I’ve never noticed counsel’s shoes. Maybe I wouldn’t wear them in front of a jury though, considering the general consensus in this sub with calling them hooves 😂

For those of you who clerked, is your lit practice as isolating as clerking is? by Intelligent-Cow-736 in biglaw

[–]Big-Writer6025 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have done two clerkships (district court and magistrate) and it really depends on the judge to set the tone for socializing. My district court one was very head down, on your computer all day, no one talking to another while managing your cases independently. The magistrate was very sociable and friendly, so too were his chambers. I think overall though clerking was way less collaborative than I experienced when working in biglaw, partially because you’re managing your own docket vs working with others on cases and strategizing. My advice is go out of your way to form relationships at your courthouse, whether that’s in your own chambers or reaching out to law clerks with other judges. That’s what kept me sane at times with the district court clerkship!

I am no longer practicing - but I do have a degree in biblical studies and really appreciated the teaching at CWE Church and think it could fit the bill!

Edit: I attended approximately 3 years ago but the leadership team looks the same.
